Chapter 234: Chapter 234: After the old master’s centennial, the Li mansion will probably cease to exist.

Ignatius Leclair had been raised by his biological mother since childhood. It was said that Mrs. Leclair, born into the Howard Family, was a gentle and delicate soul, wholly devoted to the arts, living a life untouched by worldly concerns.

She was completely different from the ambitious and calculating Stone Leclair. The fact that the two eventually parted ways was hardly surprising.

Delphine lowered her eyes and didn’t ask further. Since his mother’s death was involved, any possibility of reconciliation between him and Stone Leclair was utterly out of the question.

The internal strife within the Leclair Family, even if not fully erupting now, would likely leave the Leclair estate in ruins after the old master passed away.

Ignatius Leclair spoke softly, "Leah Squire’s treatment is now nearing its conclusion. If all goes well, she should be able to return to Nanyang soon."

Delphine was startled by his words, her clouded mood suddenly lifted, and she was overjoyed—Leah was coming back.

Leah returned to Nanyang five days later. On the day of her return, Delphine brought two plump Ragdoll cats she had been raising to Squire Manor.

Dongzi had suffered a gunshot wound. Though his life was no longer in danger, he was under strict orders to stay in bed and not get up. As a result, the driver’s duties fell to Maximilian.

"Miss Delphine, no need to worry about Dongzi. That guy’s as strong as an ox; he’ll be fine," Maximilian said cheerfully, seemingly pleased to have taken on the driver’s role, finding it a rare chance for some leisure amidst busyness.

"Make sure he rests well. You know what they say about injuries to muscles and bones taking a hundred days to heal," Delphine said with a soft smile. She had initially wanted to visit the hospital to check on him, but given the recent unrest in Nanyang, Ignatius Leclair had forbidden her from leaving the house.

"Got it. That guy’s as lucky as he is thickheaded; nothing to worry about." Two gunshot wounds and he still survived—Dongzi would likely become someone Miss Delphine could truly count on in the future.

By the time Delphine arrived at Squire Manor, dusk had already fallen. Leah was seated in the living room, surrounded by five or six servants and an accompanying physician, treated as though she were a fragile doll.

At the sight of Leah’s mix of impatience and aggrieved helplessness, Delphine couldn’t help but laugh.

"You look much better than I had imagined." Delphine handed the round, plump Ragdoll cats to a servant.

"You can all leave now. I want to talk with Delphine for a while." Leah, seated with a thick cashmere blanket draped over her knees, didn’t even dare to hold the chubby Ragdoll cats. After dismissing the servants, she grabbed Delphine’s hand and said with a grin, "This past month nearly drove me crazy. Everywhere I went, there was a herd of people dogging my footsteps. My brother’s practically turned into a mother hen."

"Given how weak your health is, you still dared to ride horses? And now you’ve got the nerve to complain?" Delphine snorted coldly.

Leah immediately clung to Delphine’s arm, pouting and whining like a child. "No, please, don’t lecture me! I can’t bear to see you looking so stern; it spoils your beautiful, delicate face."

As Leah spoke, she pinched Delphine’s smooth, supple cheeks. Her peach blossom-shaped eyes crinkled into playful crescents as she laughed.

Delphine had spent the entire trip here on edge. She remembered all too well just how critical Leah’s condition had been back then. This recent trip to Switzerland for a month-long treatment underscored the severity of it. Seeing her now—apart from looking a bit pale, her spirit was lively, and she could still joke around—Delphine finally felt a weight lifted from her heart.

"I’m fine; I was just fattened up like a pig during that month in Switzerland. I’ve even gained a few extra pounds," Leah said with a dramatic sigh, throwing in a few sharp complaints about Griffith Squire for good measure.

The siblings relied solely on each other. With Griffith being older, he had naturally taken on the role of both father and mother, keeping her on a very short leash.

"As long as you’re okay. Did Aiden mention when the final treatment would take place?" Delphine asked.

"It’ll take a year of recovery first. Once my body is in peak condition, the final surgery can be done," Leah said. Lowering her voice, she leaned closer and asked softly, "My brother told me about your situation. When I got back, something happened with the Wade Family. Did you know about it?"
