Chapter 85: Chapter 85 I told you to scram

Guo Cuihua was startled, "What?"

Zhou Lin’s harshness was something Cheng Zhiwei had experienced, and in disbelief yet compelled, she spoke out to stop him, "Zhou Lin, don’t say anymore."

But Zhou Lin’s words had already come out, "By being so biased towards Cheng Zhiwei, have you ever thought that, three years ago, the shameless thing Cheng Zhiwei did could have been spurred on by your favoritism, that it was an issue with your upbringing?"

Guo Cuihua’s face turned pale, and she swayed unsteadily, "Is... it my fault?"

Her eyes closed, and she collapsed to the ground.

"Mom."

Outside the operating room, Cheng Zhiwei leaned against the wall, her long hair completely hiding her expression, fists clenched and resting on her knees, tightly gripping.

The bitterness inside her was about to burst out of her body.

She could never have imagined that a mere morning quarrel at home would result in such swift retaliation.

Not far away, Seo Zhenzhen pursed her lips tightly, looking uneasily at Zhou Lin, "Ah Lin, I didn’t expect... that Auntie would have such an accident..."

Zhou Lin furrowed his brows, not speaking, his gaze fixed on Cheng Zhiwei, watching her sit dazed in the chair, enveloped by a gray mood.

He knew his words had been too harsh then, but he had not expected Guo Cuihua to faint.

"Ah Lin, you should check on Zhiwei," Seo Zhenzhen murmured, persuading softly, "Auntie fainted due to emotional agitation, she must be very worried."

"I know," Zhou Lin walked over.

But upon reaching her, he suddenly didn’t know what to say, unable to muster the superior air he usually held before her.

"Cheng Zhiwei, don’t worry, with Zhang Yuanheng here, Mom will be fine," was all he could muster up to say.

Before his words could settle, Cheng Zhiwei suddenly looked up, her eyes red and swollen, with bone-chilling hatred, unabashed and scorching.

Stabbed deep by that look, Zhou Lin said, "Cheng Zhiwei."

"Please, take Seo Zhenzhen and get lost," Cheng Zhiwei said expressionlessly, lips barely moving, her light voice delivering the harshest words.

Zhou Lin stood while Cheng Zhiwei sat, yet at that moment, her erupting aura yielded nothing to his.

Or maybe it was the hate, she had thrown caution to the wind.

"You..."

"I said, get lost," Cheng Zhiwei suddenly stood up, her sharp voice cutting through the air, her pale cheeks covered in frost, "She is innocent, does my mother deserve this? My mother, at least, took care of her for so many years, in your eyes, she deserves this for showing favoritism, Zhou Lin, you both truly have hearts of wolves and lungs of dogs."

"Zhiwei, I’m sorry," Seo Zhenzhen came over to apologize, tears streaming down.

Cheng Zhiwei’s gaze landed on her legs and she scornfully said, "Those legs of yours, what a worthwhile break."

Seo Zhenzhen’s face immediately turned ugly as she tugged on the blanket over her legs.

Any guilt Zhou Lin had felt before turned into dissatisfaction, "Cheng Zhiwei, that’s enough, why do you need to uncover her scars."

"After all, it’s my mother’s fault for the poor upbringing, I’m the one without manners," Cheng Zhiwei sneered, "Isn’t that what you’ve always thought?"

"That was an unintentional remark," Zhou Lin explained.

Cheng Zhiwei coldly responded, "What a coincidence, so was mine."

Seo Zhenzhen tugged at Zhou Lin’s clothes, whispering, "Ah Lin, don’t argue with Zhiwei over me, it’s my fault, I was only thinking of Zhuzhu, I’m sorry."

"Seo Zhenzhen, if one day your sister commits murder, I suppose with those legs you’ll kneel on the ground, and the whole world will have to forgive her," said Cheng Zhiwei.

"Zhiwei, I... am truly sorry."

At that moment, Zhang Yuanheng came out, wiping the sweat from his forehead, "She’s fine now."

Cheng Zhiwei’s body went limp and she nearly fell.

Zhou Lin, standing by her side, caught her instinctively.

Cheng Zhiwei briskly brushed aside his hand and hurriedly asked, "Is she really okay now?"

Zhang Yuanheng nodded, then admonished, "However, the toxins in her body haven’t been cleared, so you mustn’t agitate her again in the future."

"Yes, thank you." Cheng Zhiwei nodded gratefully and entered the ward.

Zhou Lin watched her figure disappear behind the door and patted Zhang Yuanheng on the shoulder, "You’ve worked hard."

Zhang Yuanheng offered a wry smile, "It’s not me who’s worked hard, it’s just that you two should stop tormenting each other. Madam Cheng could turn danger into safety this time because the snake venom in her body was already minimal. If the level of snake venom in her body had been any higher, even I would’ve been powerless."

Zhou Lin was silent for a few seconds before he nodded, "I understand."

Zhang Yuanheng went to rest.

Seo Zhenzhen whispered, "I’ll go check on Auntie."

"Don’t go in, I’ll have the driver take you home." Zhou Lin took over the wheelchair and pushed her out.

At the parking lot, after settling Seo Zhenzhen into the car, Zhou Lin suddenly said, "I will let the police handle Bai Zhuzhu’s matter, you should be prepared for that."

Seo Zhenzhen’s expression stiffened for two seconds, "Ah Lin, Zhuzhu she..."

"She never learns her lesson," Zhou Lin said calmly, "It’s time she faced some consequences."

He never had much fondness for Bai Zhuzhu in the first place. Initially, because of Seo Zhenzhen’s entrusting, and his prejudice against Cheng Zhiwei, he had been indulgent towards her every demand, but Bai Zhuzhu was becoming increasingly excessive.

He could tolerate her harmless mischief, but he couldn’t tolerate her reckless misbehavior.

Seo Zhenzhen’s complexion changed slightly, and she sighed softly, "But Zhuzhu is still young."

"She’s already of age."

"She’s my only sister."

"I will arrange for someone to take care of you," Zhou Lin blocked every one of Seo Zhenzhen’s arguments, "I know you’re worried about her, but if she doesn’t face consequences, she’ll become even more unbridled."

Seo Zhenzhen knew Zhou Lin’s character, sighed, and reluctantly smiled, "I understand what you’re saying, but I really can’t bring myself to be that cruel."

"That’s why I’ll handle it," Zhou Lin patted her head, "You’re not well, don’t travel such long distances in the future."

"Okay." Seo Zhenzhen agreed submissively.

After pacifying Seo Zhenzhen, Zhou Lin stood straight and looked coldly at the nanny, "You are fired."

The nanny panicked, "Why does Young President Zhou want to fire me?"

Zhou Lin’s face was expressionless, "Your responsibility is to take good care of Zhenzhen. She was bullied, and what were you doing?"

"But it was Miss Cheng..."

"I’ve told you that if Zhenzhen goes out, she must inform me. If you can’t even handle this simple task, what use is it to keep you?"

The nanny looked at Seo Zhenzhen pitifully, "Miss Seo."

Seo Zhenzhen spoke up for her, "Ah Lin, it was my request not to tell you about coming to the hospital, I didn’t want to disturb your work. Please don’t send her away. I’m used to her care."

Zhou Lin, however, was adamant, soothing Seo Zhenzhen gently, "When you get home, a new nanny will be there, don’t worry."

"But..."

"Be good."

Zhou Lin returned to the ward where Cheng Zhiwei was sitting beside the bed, lost in her thoughts.

He watched for a moment before pushing the door open and entering.

Upon hearing the noise, Cheng Zhiwei looked back with an extremely cold tone, "What are you doing here?"

Her voice was full of resentment.
