Chapter 472: What Kind of Sister is One with No Blood Relation?

Chapter 472: Chapter 472: What Kind of Sister is One with No Blood Relation?

Cheng Zhiyin: "My classes for this semester aren’t over yet. Leaving now would be irresponsible towards the students."

"Miss Cheng, I can compensate you for your losses. Just say the word, and any amount of money is possible."

Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t listen anymore. She forcefully pushed open the door of the office, and the jarring "bang" echoed within the office.

Cheng Zhiyin said with surprise, "Zhiwei, you’re back."

Cheng Zhiwei threw the thermos onto the desk with force, her sharp gaze landing on Madam Huo’s face, carrying a hint of scrutiny, "Madam Huo comes to trouble someone else’s daughter because she can’t discipline her own. Is this what a scholarly family teaches?"

Madam Huo felt very embarrassed.

She had no other choice but to make this trip, after all, in the past few days, Huo Yaya had been threatening suicide various times.

"I’m sorry," Madam Huo sincerely apologized. "Miss Cheng, I know I have put you in a difficult position, but our Yaya..."

"Madam Huo, that’s your Huo Family’s Yaya, not related to us. We’re not saints required to give up everything for a stranger," Cheng Zhiwei bluntly cut Madam Huo off.

The Huo Family wasn’t around when Huo Yaya was bullying Cheng Zhiyin.

To protect her own daughter, she was willing to harm the interests of others; her heart was truly vile.

Madam Huo was left speechless by Cheng Zhiwei’s retort, tears welling up in her eyes, making her appear particularly vulnerable.

"I do understand, but Yaya is facing the loss of life, while you, Miss Cheng, are only facing the loss of a job. Moreover, we will provide you with ample compensation."

Naturally, Madam Huo considered life the most important.

And Cheng Zhiyin was a teacher; she should understand this principle.

Unfortunately for her, Cheng Zhiwei was there.

Having gone through so much, she knew that there are times when a person must be selfish.

Without morals, one cannot be held hostage by them.

Yaya’s life was important, but if she didn’t value her own life, why should others have to pay for it?

"Madam Huo, please leave if there’s nothing else. My sister should be getting off work," Cheng Zhiwei said, unapologetically shooing her away.

Madam Huo looked somewhat mortified but still picked up her bag and left.

Cheng Zhiyin’s tense expression relaxed, and she asked, "Why are you here?"

"If you’re not coming home for dinner, I’ll bring it to you. I thought you were working overtime. I didn’t expect it to be the Huo Family," Cheng Zhiwei said, her brows furrowed with a poor impression of the Huo Family.

And Huo Xuan not handling his own family affairs well, making Cheng Zhiyin suffer too.

Cheng Zhiyin opened the thermos, the appealing scent of the meals clearing her frustration as she said, "Madam Huo probably had no choice but to come find me."

Though she proposed that I leave, her attitude was still okay.

Cheng Zhiwei, propping her chin with one hand, sat across from her sister. Thinking how Cheng Zhiyin’s current predicament was all because of her, she felt especially guilty.

Then thinking about Huo Yaya’s situation, she frowned, "If Yaya doesn’t like you, does she need to threaten suicide?"

And they are siblings, no less.

Even if she couldn’t accept her brother getting married, wasn’t this reaction a bit too extreme?

It made it seem like the relationship between her and Huo Xuan was not sibling love but a romantic one.

Cheng Zhiyin hadn’t really been in contact nor intentionally inquired about the Huo Family since clarifying things with Huo Xuan, so she wasn’t aware of the details.

Cheng Zhiwei thought about what Guo Cuihua had explained, asking Cheng Zhiyin if the decision to resign was because of Huo Yaya.

Cheng Zhiyin was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "It’s not entirely because of that; I want to move to a new place to live."

Although many years had passed, the events of the past still troubled her. With some money in hand, she wanted to resign and travel to unwind and take a break before deciding on her next steps.

Cheng Zhiwei could guess that part of the reason Cheng Zhiyin was bullied was due to everyone believing Zhou Lin had fallen from power.

"We’re back now; nobody is going to drive you away," she said.

Cheng Zhiyin’s eyes warmed with emotion, "Is he coming back to take over the Zhou Family? But the Zhou Group is in such a state now; wouldn’t he have to start from scratch?"

"That’s his business," Cheng Zhiwei said. "I won’t interfere."

But with Zhou Lin’s capabilities, that wasn’t a problem.

"Let’s talk about it later."

She still wanted to resign.

After dinner, the two left the school.

Under the orange glow of the streetlights, a black car sat quietly, the window halfway down, revealing Zhou Lin’s stern features.

He had come to pick Cheng Zhiwei up.

Cheng Zhiyin embraced her younger sister, telling her to go home.

"I’ll come to see Yangyang and Xingxing after I get a couple of days off," she said.

Cheng Zhiwei smiled and agreed.

"Cheng Zhiyin." Huo Yaya’s sharp, cutting voice rang out; she appeared pale, dressed in a hospital gown.

She rushed in front of Cheng Zhiyin, raised her hand high, and viciously slapped her.

Cheng Zhiwei caught her wrist, her face cold as she pushed her away.

Huo Yaya fell to the ground, her palm scraping and bleeding. She gasped in pain, "You dare lay hands on me."

Zhou Lin had already gotten out of the car and approached.

And finally, the Huo Family arrived, fashionably late.

Madam Huo hurriedly helped Huo Yaya up, her expression filled with concern as she looked at her daughter’s hand, "Does it hurt, Yaya?"

"Mom." Huo Yaya whined petulantly, extra spoiled, "Didn’t you promise to make her leave? Why is she still here?"

Huo Xuan’s complexion turned from pale to ashen, "What do you mean ’make her leave’?"

He had been on his way home when he received a call from Madam Huo telling him that Huo Yaya had gone to find Cheng Zhiyin, and he drove straight there.

He was unaware of what had happened earlier.

Huo Yaya bit her lip, intentionally or not, showing the bandage on her wrist, feigning tears, "Brother, my hand hurts so much."

Huo Xuan gave her no mind, only looking at Cheng Zhiyin with some pain, before finally grabbing Huo Yaya, "Have you made enough of a scene?"

Madam Huo exclaimed, "Huo Xuan, you’re hurting her."

Huo Yaya struggled, crying out, "I want her to get out of Yucheng. I won’t let her appear in front of my brother again."

Cheng Zhiyin’s complexion whitened.

Zhou Lin stood beside Cheng Zhiwei, the night breeze brushing his expressionless face, "Is it the Huo Family that calls the shots in Yucheng now?"

Madam Huo’s complexion became slightly unpleasant, "Zhou Lin..."

She was quite friendly with Lin Yu, so she considered herself a senior to Zhou Lin.

But Zhou Lin didn’t give her any face.

"Madam Huo, if you can’t discipline your daughter, I can do it for you," Zhou Lin said coolly. "If I hear even a single word about my family being mistreated, the Huo Family’s fate might not be so good."

"Ah Lin." Huo Xuan shook his head at him, asking him to stop.

Zhou Lin scoffed, "Huo Xuan, I’ve said before that she’s a lunatic who should be sent to a mental hospital, but you wouldn’t."

Otherwise, none of this would have happened.

"She’s my sister," Huo Xuan emphasized.

"What kind of sister is one without any blood relation?" Zhou Lin said with a hint of sarcasm.

Perhaps reflecting on his own past actions, Zhou Lin only felt extreme disgust at the current scene.

He despised those women with impure motives.
