The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 452: Are you doing well abroad?

Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Are you doing well abroad?

Yu Man died tragically back then, and afterward, most of the Wen Family chose to move abroad, only maintaining the basic operations of their company. It’s only in the past few years that they’ve returned to develop further.

It was not long ago that Wen Yongan fully returned to reside here.

After Yu Man’s death, the Wen Family chose to escape.

Cheng Zhiwei respected their decision, after all, it involved Zhou Chenyan, who was ruthless by nature and had the backing of the Zhou Family.

It was only fair for the Wen Family to seek refuge.

But she couldn’t accept it.

So, she found it even more unacceptable to return to the Wen Family like this.

Wen Yongan wanted to say more but was stopped by Zhou Lin, "Uncle Wen, she just found out about this. Give her some time to process it; I’ll talk to her about the rest."

Wen Yongan could only stop, he stood up, walked a few steps, then turned back, "I know you hate us for not saving her. We wanted to, but we couldn’t contend with Zhou Chenyan."

He turned and left.

Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t control her emotions and cried.

Even though she had never met Yu Man, and her first twenty years at the Cheng Family had been smooth sailing.

But it still hurt.

"Zhiwei," Zhou Lin pulled a tissue, gently wiping her tears, "Aunt would definitely not want to see you saddened like this."

Cheng Zhiwei coldly pushed his hand away, asking him, "Did you know about this all along?"

Zhou Lin fell silent, then nodded, "Yes."

He paused, then simply recounted the events of the past, including how Yu Man saved Zhou Chenyan and how Zhou Chenyan ungratefully retaliated, sparing no details, everything he had uncovered.

"They went abroad to survive."

"Why did you decide to do this DNA test without consulting me?" Tears appeared in Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes, along with clear disgust.

Zhou Lin frowned, not understanding why she was angry about this.

"Uncle Wen wanted to do a paternity test, so I did it."

He thought since she wasn’t the Cheng Family’s daughter, she ought to have a family, and since the Wen Family’s reputation was not bad, with Wen Yongan being approachable, and sisters Wen Ya and Wen Yi having great characters and free from messy scandals.

Isn’t having such family members good for her and the child?

"If he wants to do it, then do it, why don’t you go stay with him?" Cheng Zhiwei pushed Zhou Lin out.

Zhou Lin pressed his lips together, his eyes deeply angry, "Zhiwei, they were powerless when it happened."

That was the truth.

"Powerless to help but could run abroad? When my mom was detained, did she ever hope for their rescue?" Cheng Zhiwei actually knew some of this.

She had had it investigated as well.

But it was very difficult.

"Maybe they did try to save her." Zhou Lin held Cheng Zhiwei’s hands tightly, restraining her movements, "Calm down, my mom said that Wen Yongning had been to Yucheng."

"By that time, she was already dead." How could Cheng Zhiwei calm down, "They went to collect her corpse?"

"Zhiwei, don’t get agitated," Zhou Lin kissed her forehead, hoping she could be more rational.

It was just a paternity test, not forcing her to return to the Wen Family.

"If you don’t want to return to the Wen Family, then we won’t go back." Zhou Lin conceded; he apologized and promised, "They won’t bother you either."

As he spoke, the door suddenly pushed open.

Wen Yongan had not closed the door tightly when he left.

He had returned, followed by a middle-aged man.

He looked sixty percent like Wen Yongan.

It was Wen Yongning.

When Wen Yongning saw Cheng Zhiwei, he moved forward excitedly, then hesitated and stopped, "Are you Zhiwei?"

Cheng Zhiwei almost went mad, pushing Zhou Lin aside, her gaze filled with sarcasm, "So much for your promise they wouldn’t disturb me?"

Zhou Lin’s expression turned grim, his jaw clenching tightly, "I didn’t know he would come back."

In the twenty plus years since Yu Man’s death, Wen Yongning had never returned to the country.

"It was me who asked him to come back," Wen Yongan explained, "After all, he is your father; you should meet."

Despite Wen Yongan asking Zhou Lin to conduct the paternity test, he couldn’t help but inform his brother abroad to make a trip back.

Wen Yongning had just rushed over.

But Cheng Zhiwei’s slight hope for family ties had vanished with Wen Yongan’s silence earlier.

She looked at her so-called father, feeling nothing inside.

"Met him, can he leave now?" She coldly dismissed.

"Zhiwei," Wen Yongning called her name, "I understand you can’t accept this momentarily, but that’s okay, we can take it slow."

Cheng Zhiwei stared at him for a long while before finally asking, "Did you live well abroad these years?"

Wen Yongning’s complexion was healthy, appearing quite young, obviously living comfortably.

"Zhiwei, she has been dead for many years; we all need to start new lives." Wen Yongan tried to calm her, "Your mom fought desperately to protect you, naturally hoping you could live well with your family."

Cheng Zhiwei became silent.

She thought, if they had been in Yucheng at the time, they should have known Yu Man had a child, even if they couldn’t save Yu Man, they could have taken her child.

But all signs indicated that they hadn’t been in Yucheng during that period.

She no longer wanted to argue about this.

She had been Cheng Zhiwei for over two decades, and she was still Cheng Zhiwei now; as for embracing the past and acknowledging Wen Yongning as her father, she could not do it.

Everyone has their own life and their own choices.

She respected theirs and her own.

She did not accept the so-called family.

"Please leave," she coldly ordered.

"Zhiwei."

"Mom..."

The bedroom door opened, and Cheng Yang came out, his little face worried, "Are you guys fighting?"

Before Cheng Zhiwei could respond, a small head peeked out from behind Cheng Yang, softly calling out "Mommy."

"That is..." Wen Yongning gasped softly.

His gaze intensified.

They really did look alike.

Cheng Zhiwei’s tone grew heavy, "Cheng Yang, take your sister inside."

"Got it," Cheng Yang immediately closed the door.

Wen Yongning, overwhelmed, said, "Zhiwei, that is..."

"I said leave," Cheng Zhiwei snapped, "Leave now or I’ll call the police."

"We can talk," Wen Yongning pleaded urgently, "I can explain what happened back then."

"Let’s talk tomorrow. Now, please leave and don’t disturb my children."

Wen Yongning knew that forcing the issue now would only make things worse, so he finally left.

Cheng Zhiwei stood by the door, watching Zhou Lin, and said expressionlessly, "You too, please leave."

Zhou Lin knew she was really angry, but leaving was not something he would do.

He headed to the children’s room.

Cheng Zhiwei watched as he closed the door, stomping her foot in frustration.

He truly was shameless, knowing she couldn’t argue with him in front of the children.

She was furious, so she simply locked the master bedroom’s door.
