Chapter 449: Don’t Bother Yourself

Chapter 449: Chapter 449: Don’t Bother Yourself

Bai Xue frowned, her expression somewhat impatient, "Ding Kun, just give the resources to her."

Ding Kun’s eyes reddened, and he stared at Bai Xue intently, "What did you say?"

He was unable to see that the woman deliberately took advantage of him, but instead, she spoke first about giving away the resources he had struggled so hard to secure.

She really had a cruel heart.

Bai Xue’s expression changed slightly, her tone softened a bit, "Ding Kun, you know I’m in a difficult position right now."

Just then, another man got out of the car and put his hand on Bai Xue’s shoulder without any hesitation, "Xuexue, what’s wrong?"

"Isn’t this your classmate? Is there a problem? Do you need my help?"

Classmate?

Ding Kun almost gnashed his teeth as he looked down, "No."

The man patted Ding Kun on the shoulder, "How about this, I’ll talk to the director and arrange someone else to lead you, that Cheng Zhiwei isn’t worth your efforts. Otherwise, you might end up working for nothing and get nothing in the end, she’s also older, you two are not suitable."

It was just an ordinary relationship, but the man insisted on making it sound ambiguous as if there was something between Ding Kun and Cheng Zhiwei.

"How am I not worth it?" Cheng Zhiwei had had enough of watching the drama, moreover, that man even dared to spread rumors, she stepped forward, smirked and looked at them, "What is my relationship with him? How are we not suitable?"

Caught in the act of spreading rumors, the man’s face turned slightly unpleasant, but it was only for a moment, and he recovered his smile, "So you are Cheng Zhiwei?"

"I am." Cheng Zhiwei pushed away the woman clinging to Ding Kun, "Get lost."

"You..." The woman almost fell, stomping her foot angrily, "I am a senior in the company, how dare you treat me like this."

"Cheng Zhiwei, you’ve gone too far." The man started lecturing with an air of superiority, "This is right in front of the company entrance. You’re just a newcomer and yet you dare to be so arrogant, be careful, I might have someone kick you out."

"Try me." Cheng Zhiwei could not care less.

"Sister, let it go," Ding Kun sniffled guiltily, "It’s my fault for being useless."

Cheng Zhiwei frowned at him, said nothing further, "Let’s go inside."

She respected his decision.

After they left, the man beside Bai Xue scoffed, "Ding Kun is becoming more and more pathetic, hiding behind a woman. Of all people, he had to choose Cheng Zhiwei, a nobody, is it because Cheng Zhiwei is still somewhat pretty?"

"Enough, stop talking," Bai Xue’s face was unsightly as she kept her gaze on the company entrance, "Let’s go, we’ll be late otherwise."

The man looked at her half-smiling, "Feeling sorry for your ex-boyfriend?"

Bai Xue’s expression stiffened, then softened into a gentle look, she gave him a reproachful glance, "Ah Jie, although he and I have broken up, we are still classmates, and there’s some camaraderie left. If I felt sorry for him, would I have told him to give up the resources?"

Wen Jie touched her cheek, "I knew you are the kindest. Let’s go inside."

Blushing, Bai Xue leaned on his shoulder as they entered together.

Cheng Zhiwei sat opposite Ding Kun, fiddling with her phone. The resources Ding Kun fought for had just been reassigned to someone else.

Ding Kun’s face turned red with anger, on the verge of exploding, "Why do they have the right to do this?"

Cheng Zhiwei remained calm, simply curious, she asked: "Things didn’t end well between you and Bai Xue, did you do something to wrong her?"

Otherwise, why would Bai Xue be so indifferent?

Ding Kun sighed miserably, "I didn’t."

"Then why did you follow her here?"

"I just couldn’t accept it." He rubbed his hair in frustration.

At another company, they had both started from scratch, but he genuinely worked hard to secure resources for her. Yet, she still wasn’t satisfied, and after their three-year contract expired, she decisively decided to come here.

And he could only abandon the job that was just beginning to improve over there to follow her here.

But before he even started the job, she broke up with him.

Now he had joined this company, but because of that person’s status, no one was willing to work with him for so long.

"It’s my fault, sister."

Cheng Zhiwei patted his shoulder, "It’s okay."

She wasn’t exactly desperate for the resources now; her collaboration with Wen Ya was sufficient and besides, she wasn’t lacking money. But Wen Ya meant that joining the company would be useful for her future development.

Probably Wen Ya didn’t expect she would be in such a situation now either.

Just then, someone came over to call Cheng Zhiwei, his eyes unusually complex, "Cheng Zhiwei, someone is looking for you."

Cheng Zhiwei followed him out, and what met her was a large bouquet of roses, the bright red petals still dripping with dew, looking lusciously tempting.

He Ye smiled brightly, his light gray suit making him look as gentle as jade.

"Zhiwei, congratulations on joining."

Surrounded by a curious crowd, Cheng Zhiwei accepted the roses unflustered, smiling, "Senior, how did you find time to come here?"

He Ye took a contract from his assistant, "There’s an event at the company, and we’re looking to invite some guests, I wanted to invite you."

Gossip-hungry eyes all blazed up, either envious or jealous.

"Thank you, senior, but you’ll have to talk to my manager about these matters." Cheng Zhiwei pulled Ding Kun out from the crowd, "Ding Kun, what do you think?"

Ding Kun, dizzied by the surprising turn of events—just a moment ago he was upset about the stolen resources, and now a bigger surprise awaited him.

He hurriedly responded, "Sister, don’t worry, I’ll handle it well."

He Ye signaled his assistant to go over, then said to Cheng Zhiwei, "They’ll discuss it, shall we go for a cup of coffee?"

"Okay," Cheng Zhiwei agreed.

The two found a nearby café and sat down.

He Ye frowned slightly, a bit regretful, "Your manager seems quite young, his face looks tender, do you want me to introduce someone experienced?"

Since she wouldn’t join his studio, he could only find other ways to help her.

Cheng Zhiwei gently stirred her coffee, her smile calm and serene, "Everyone grows up from being young, I trust him."

He Ye didn’t say anything further, "Since you think highly of him, that’s fine."

"What brought you here?" Cheng Zhiwei casually asked.

He Ye’s lips curled, "I’ve got a collaboration here, I’ve been busy with that these days, and thought I’d come and see you."

Cheng Zhiwei frowned, "But Mr. Wen said before that we wouldn’t collaborate anymore?"

Without He Ye being explicit, she knew he was here for her.

Cheng Zhiwei considered, then added, "If reconciliation is possible, that would be best."

Not just for herself, but for He Ye’s future as well.

"I know."

After a few minutes of silence, He Ye finally said, "Zhou Lin went to Yucheng, there..."

"Don’t bother yourself about it." Her cool voice fell beside Cheng Zhiwei.

Speaking of the devil, and he shows up.
