The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 439: Bear the Consequences Yourself

Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Bear the Consequences Yourself

In just a short month, the Zhou Family had completely fallen from grace.

Various investigative departments moved in, and the Zhou Family was almost in a desperate situation.

When Zhou Jinzhong came to the door, Zhou Lin had just sent his child and Cheng Zhiwei back home.

He looked at the elder before him, who was on the verge of death, finding it hard to imagine how spirited he had been just a month ago.

With a disdainful curl of his lip, he said indifferently, "Third Uncle, do you need something?"

Zhou Jinzhong’s turbid eyes stared tightly at Zhou Lin, filled with hatred: "You knew he would destroy the Zhou Family. You did it on purpose; deliberately taken away by the police, deliberately breaking away from the Zhou Family."

Zhou Lin’s disdain turned into tangible mockery, and he didn’t bother to hide his contempt any longer.

"It was you who said that I deliberately killed someone and got taken away by the police. It was also you who publicly disowned me from the Zhou Family. What does this have to do with me?"

"You..." Zhou Jinzhong was so angry that he couldn’t speak, probably because the recent blows were too heavy, and he started gasping for breath when agitated.

After gasping a few times, he began to cough tremendously.

Zhou Lin sat steadily, not even bothering to pour him a glass of water, just pursing his lips in disgust, thinking that after the visitor left, he needed to disinfect the house.

Who knew how many viruses there were.

It was Zhou Jinzhong’s attendant who quickly fetched a thermos, poured some water, and took out a few pills, barely managing to stop his cough.

After a severe coughing fit, when Zhou Jinzhong spoke again, his voice had gone hoarse.

"Zhou Lin, your father just passed away recently. Can you really just watch Zhou Chenyan ruin the Zhou Family?"

Zhou Lin found it laughable and didn’t hide his laughter, "You also know my father has only just passed away."

Zhou Jinzhong’s chest heaved violently, and then he apologized with his head down, "I did wrong in this matter. Zhou Lin, I can apologize to you, but you have to go back and support the Group. Everyone is waiting for you to return."

The Group was in turmoil, with many resignations; it was now barely maintaining basic operations. But if Zhou Chenyan continued to wreak havoc, it might not last even a week.

"You know what kind of person Zhou Chenyan is, yet you still brought him back for that ridiculous inheritance," Zhou Lin said calmly, "So naturally, you should bear the consequences."

"But..."

"No buts." Zhou Lin began to push him out. If he didn’t leave, there wouldn’t be enough time to disinfect.

Right, he still had to pick up the child.

"Since you always believed your grandfather underestimated you by not giving you the company, now is the perfect opportunity. Drive Zhou Chenyan away and easily seat yourself as the chairman."

Zhou Lin glanced at the time, "As for me, I have nothing to do with the Zhou Family anymore. I’m busy, so I won’t keep Third Uncle any longer. Please leave."

Zhou Jinzhong had no choice but to find Zhou Lin; if it was as simple as Zhou Lin said, to easily become chairman, he wouldn’t have come here.

Zhou Chenyan had really gone too far.

As Zhou Jinzhong stood up, his fingers clenched around the dragon-head cane, still in disbelief, "Can you truly just watch Zhou Chenyan destroy the Zhou Family?"

How could he bear it.

"Of course... I can," Zhou Lin answered without hesitation.

From the moment he left the Zhou’s, he never thought of returning.

No trace of insincerity could be seen on Zhou Lin’s face by Zhou Jinzhong.

He genuinely didn’t care if the Zhou Family failed.

"Zhou Lin."

"Third Uncle, if I were you, I wouldn’t have made this trip," Zhou Lin said, his tone cooling as Zhou Jinzhong refused to leave, his patience waning.

"Zhou Chenyan is the type to hold grudges. If he finds out you came to ask me to return, he won’t let you go," Zhou Lin warned him kindly.

As his words fell, Zhou Jinzhong’s phone rang.

About half a minute later, his face turned pale as he stared at Zhou Lin in shock.

"Zhou Chenyan has kidnapped my great-grandson." He had a look of desperation, as if he could pass out any moment.

Zhou Lin merely frowned, "Then you should hurry back."

"Zhou Lin, save the child for me, and I won’t want anything to do with the Zhou Family," Zhou Jinzhong pleaded.

The biggest regret in Zhou Jinzhong’s life, aside from the inheritance, was that his own son was not as good as the old patriarch.

Fortunately, his daughter-in-law bore a child with high potential, who at five years old was already very smart.

Zhou Jinzhong had always groomed him as the heir.

By taking this child, Zhou Chenyan had gotten a stranglehold on Zhou Jinzhong.

Zhou Lin looked at him indifferently, "I’m sorry, I can’t help."

"Zhou Lin," Zhou Jinzhong raised his voice suddenly, not knowing whether it was out of anger or plea.

Zhou Lin scoffed, the simple home attire unable to hide his serene composure, "I have no people, no money; how could I compete with Zhou Chenyan?"

"Instead of wasting time here, you’d be better off going back to find a way," Zhou Lin said and then went to open the door, ushering the visitor out.

Then he immediately arranged for someone to come and disinfect.

Sitting in the car on the way to the airport, Zhou Jinzhong’s face was ashen.

The person serving him remarked, "He really dodged a bullet."

No matter how Zhou Chenyan messed up the company, it was no longer Zhou Lin’s concern.

Zhou Jinzhong’s head hurt, his vision darkening, nearly gritting his teeth as he forced out a few words.

"At first, I was wondering how Zhou Lin was so easily schemed against, but now it seems he knew everything all along."

He probably even knew they would use that person to frame him.

In joining the scheme, Zhou Lin managed to detach himself cleanly and legitimately, leaving no room for criticism.

From then on, how the Zhou Family fared had nothing to do with him, and if anyone else mentioned it, they would only curse the Zhou Family for not recognizing his value.

"What about Yucheng? I don’t know who exposed Zhou Chenyan’s deeds, but now it’s getting worse. It seems like the Zhou Group is going to be finished along with him."

Zhou Jinzhong leaned back exhausted, "It’s us who are finished, not him, Zhou Chenyan."

And it was Zhou Chenyan who had played them to their end.

"What do we do now?"

"Leave it to fate."

After all, Zhou Jinzhong’s grandson was still in Zhou Chenyan’s hands; he had no choice but to obey.

The moment Zhou Jinzhong returned to Yucheng, he looked for Zhou Chenyan.

Zhou Chenyan, wearing a bathrobe and with an unhealthily pale skin tone, said, "I heard Third Uncle went to find Zhou Lin. So, did you persuade him to come back?"

He indeed knew.

Sweating profusely but still enduring, Zhou Jinzhong said, "Chenyan, let’s talk things out. Don’t hurt the child."

Zhou Chenyan picked up the remote and turned on the TV.

The screen flickered twice, not showing any TV program, but surveillance footage.

In the footage, a boy around five or six years old sat on the ground crying, while not far away lay a huge...

Zhou Jinzhong thought it was a wolf-dog, but it also seemed like a wolf.
