Chapter 437: Chapter 437: About our relationship, I need to think about it more
Zhou Chenyan received the news just as the girl in the white dress was barely breathing when dragged out of his room.
He was suited and booted, immaculately dressed from head to toe, in stark contrast to the messy room.
"Zhou Lin has gone to Sea City, do we need to send someone to kill him?" Zhou Jinzhong looked around the wrecked room, barely finding a place to step, and couldn’t help but say, "Chenyan, you are now the chairman, you should pay more attention to your private life, don’t go too far."
Zhou Chenyan, nonchalant, swished his wine glass, watching the amber liquid ripple with subtle curves inside.
"Mind your own business."
He became more and more brazen and reckless.
Zhou Jinzhong frowned, his tone admonishing, "If you really hate her, she’s lying in the hospital right now, you can torment her all you want, why bully those girls?"
It wasn’t that he felt much sympathy for the girls, it was just that he didn’t want the Zhou Family to be embroiled in negative publicity again.
But he didn’t know that his words had infuriated Zhou Chenyan.
Zhou Chenyan laughed darkly, quite creepily, "Zhou Jinzhong, do you really think you’re someone important?"
He called him by his full name.
Zhou Jinzhong’s face turned a steely blue, "Zhou Chenyan."
Zhou Chenyan’s lips curled meaningfully as he looked at him, "If you’re old, just stay at home and enjoy your life, mind your own business."
"You... you dare threaten me?" Zhou Jinzhong became angry, "Zhou Chenyan, don’t forget who brought you back."
"Was it you?" Zhou Chenyan sized up Zhou Jinzhong with scorn, "Third Uncle, with that pathetic ability of yours, don’t flatter yourself."
Zhou Jinzhong nearly fainted from anger.
"Also, stop spreading rumors behind Ah Yu’s back, whoever gossips, I’ll pull out their tongue."
He could toy with various girls at will, but about his impotence, if Lin Yu found out, it would be trampling his dignity into the ground.
So Lin Yu must never find out.
...
When Zhou Lin arrived in Sea City, it was already one o’clock in the morning.
Cheng Zhiwei saw him standing at the door with his suitcase, his face showing deep fatigue and an undisguised relief.
Cheng Zhiwei didn’t ask much and tidied up the guest room.
Zhou Lin followed her step by step, couldn’t help but lean in and embrace her from behind as she was holding the blanket, kissing her earlobe, "I want to stay in the master bedroom."
Cheng Zhiwei was silent for a few seconds, "Then I’ll go sleep in the guest room."
Zhou Lin held her tighter, "I mean, Zhiwei, we can share a room."
Such an obvious hint, Cheng Zhiwei understood.
Her facial expression faded a bit, and she said calmly, "Zhou Lin, I still need to think about our relationship."
She didn’t outright refuse, but she didn’t agree either.
Zhou Lin’s heart sank immediately, and it was somewhat chilly as well.
He let go of her and looked steadily at her indifferent face; she wasn’t someone to say such things offhandedly. It was after careful consideration.
Cheng Zhiwei looked up at him seriously, this man she had liked for a very long time, having also experienced hurt and despair, no matter how much she had given up before, there was always a bit of unwillingness in her heart.
But after coming to Sea City and living a calm life for a while, she suddenly seemed to have realized.
She didn’t actually need a man, not really.
"You can stay here, as the father of the children, nothing more," Cheng Zhiwei said, carrying the blanket to the guest room.
She made the bed, then went to the master bedroom to tidy up.
Zhou Lin still hadn’t moved.
Cheng Zhiwei sighed to herself and then said, "If you want to stay in the master bedroom, then stay there. I’ll tidy up the rest tomorrow, it’s too late now, let’s rest."
She turned around to head to the guest room.
"No need." Zhou Lin walked over, his tone somewhat cold and slightly sarcastic, "I’ll go to the guest room."
The door closed silently.
He was very angry, but he also remembered that it was deep into the night, and the two children were sleeping next door; he couldn’t wake them.
Cheng Zhiwei touched her own arm, sat on the edge of the bed for a while, not sure whether her decision was right or wrong, but at least she didn’t regret it at the moment.
The alarm clock rang promptly at six o’clock.
Cheng Zhiwei got up on time, got ready, and then went to make breakfast.
But she hadn’t expected Zhou Lin to be up earlier.
Boiled eggs were already in the pot, and he wore her small floral apron, which appeared somewhat amusing.
"You’re up so early?" Zhou Lin said in a neutral tone.
His demeanor was normal as if the discomfort at midnight hadn’t happened.
He was polite, so Cheng Zhiwei naturally wouldn’t stir trouble.
She pointed to where he was standing in the kitchen, "Shall I?"
Zhou Lin handed the apron to Cheng Zhiwei, watching her neatly prepare breakfast with crossed arms.
The children had breakfast at kindergarten, so what Cheng Zhiwei made was for herself and Zhou Lin, very simple.
It was seven o’clock just after breakfast, and Cheng Zhiwei went to wake up the two children, with Zhou Lin helping by her side.
Cheng Yang bounced out of bed and looked at Zhou Lin with sleepy eyes, "Uncle Zhou?"
Cheng Zhiwei patted his head and tried to smooth down his tousled hair, "Call him dad."
The off-handed remark was what Zhou Lin had longed for, but his face betrayed little joy.
Cheng Yang tilted his head, "Daddy?"
Zhou Lin simply hummed in response, helping him get dressed.
Cheng Xing was silent, still in a dazed state.
After dressing the children, the doorbell rang.
Wen Yi came with a woman in her forties, saying to Cheng Zhiwei, "Sister Zhiwei, I’ve brought her for you."
The woman looked average, but appeared honest and dependable.
Cheng Zhiwei was pleased and smiled, "Thank you, Wen Yi. Let’s try for a couple of days to see how it goes, and we’ll keep her if she’s suitable."
The middle-aged woman quickly said, "Sure."
Zhou Lin was carrying one child in each arm when he saw the unfamiliar woman, arching an eyebrow, "What’s this about?"
Wen Yi looked surprised to see Zhou Lin and then winked at Cheng Zhiwei with a hint of gossip, as if asking why he was here.
Cheng Zhiwei gave her an annoyed glance and explained to Zhou Lin, "I have things to do and can’t pick up and drop off the children in time, so I found them a nanny to look after them."
Zhou Lin put Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing down, straightening their clothes, "I’m free these days, I’ll take care of the kids."
He would take care of them?
Cheng Zhiwei thought of Zhou Ruoki and felt this was unreliable.
She said, "Let auntie do it; she’s experienced, and it’s better that way."
The middle-aged woman also quickly said, "Yes, sir, let me handle the kids, you must be busy with work, and there might be times when you can’t be there."
Zhou Lin, without a blush or a skip in his heartbeat, said in a steady voice, "I have nothing to do anyway, staying at home all day with plenty of time."
The nanny gave an "oh" and looked at Zhou Lin skeptically. This man looked decent enough; how come he seemed to live off a woman?
