Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Is This the Man You Chose?
"Explanation? You don’t need to explain, I can see for myself," Cheng Zhiyin said coldly. "Stop following me, the bodyguard won’t let you in."
Guan Ming tugged at her, "Zhiyin, it really was a misunderstanding. You know how I feel about you, would I still lie to you?"
"My sister is hospitalized here, keep your voice down," Cheng Zhiyin said irritably.
"I’m here anyway, I’ll go see her."
"No need."
"Zhiyin, with your temperament and in that situation, who else would want you but me?"
Hearing these words, Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t bear it anymore. She was about to go over when Cheng Zhiyin already said, "Guan Ming, I will never marry in my life, I don’t need someone like you."
Cheng Zhiyin was usually gentle in nature; the fact that she insulted Guan Ming like this showed just how unbearable he was.
Footsteps approached.
Followed by the sound of Guan Ming stamping his feet, "Cheng Zhiyin, I’ll go see what’s wrong with my sister..."
Cheng Zhiwei had already grabbed Cheng Zhiyin, "Who is that man outside?"
Cheng Zhiyin steadied her, "What are you doing out here?"
"I came to pick you up. Who is that man exactly?" Cheng Zhiwei pressed on, wasn’t Cheng Zhiyin seeing Huo Xuan? How did Guan Ming pop up?
Cheng Zhiyin’s eyes were slightly red as she turned her face away, "He’s irrelevant, don’t worry about him."
"Then I’ll ask Huo Xuan."
"Don’t."
Afraid that Cheng Zhiwei would really go ask Huo Xuan, Cheng Zhiyin could only approximately explain the situation.
Huo Xuan was from a good background, and Cheng Zhiyin dared not accept his advances, but Huo Xuan pursued relentlessly, with romantic and gentle methods, and Cheng Zhiyin was moved. It was then that he took her to a party.
She overheard Huo Xuan’s sister telling another woman that Huo Xuan was just playing with her, seeking inspiration from her, since she couldn’t get pregnant and there was no worry of a tragedy occurring.
She didn’t believe in these words, but when she turned to ask Huo Xuan, she found him kissing another woman.
Cheng Zhiyin couldn’t bear such betrayal and immediately left. Huo Xuan followed her persistently afterward, even trailing her to school.
With so many people at the school, it was a bad influence, and in a moment of impulsive thinking, Cheng Zhiyin grabbed Guan Ming who had come to see her, using him as a shield and introduced him as her boyfriend.
Guan Ming was someone her colleagues had introduced her for blind dating.
Any ordinary man would know Cheng Zhiyin was merely using him, and she did apologize and explain to him afterward.
But Guan Ming clung to her, assuming the role of her boyfriend.
After somehow learning about her health condition, he intensified his entanglements, seeming conceited as if being with her was a favor.
Cheng Zhiyin, annoyed, blocked him, but he resorted to changing numbers to harass her.
All in all, he was like clingy plaster, impossible to shake off.
"Should I ask Zhou Lin to help?" Cheng Zhiwei felt pity for Cheng Zhiyin having to deal with such a man, powerless though they were, Zhou Lin surely had a way.
Cheng Zhiyin shook her head, "Forget it, summer vacation is almost here, I’ll return to my hometown and stay a bit longer, he probably won’t come then."
She didn’t want to trouble Zhou Lin, especially since their relationship had just improved slightly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Cheng Zhiwei said nothing else but kept the matter in her heart. Cheng Zhiyin hadn’t mentioned it while she was here, but once she left, Cheng Zhiwei went to ask Zhou Lin.
"What’s up with Huo Xuan? Turns out he’s a scumbag?" At the time, Cheng Zhiwei thought he was quite good: good-looking, patient, and importantly, he was a DINK.
He was perfect for Cheng Zhiyin.
Zhou Lin looked up from his documents, "A scumbag?"
Cheng Zhiwei explained about the party.
Zhou Lin frowned, "Could there be a misunderstanding?"
"Sister saw it with her own eyes," Cheng Zhiwei retorted irritably. "Do you guys always like to have your options open, continuously restless about what you can’t have, but then take for granted what you do have?"
If that’s the case, why bother troubling ordinary people like them.
Zhou Lin put down the document, pinched Cheng Zhiwei’s chin, and innocently leaned close, his breath warming her cheeks.
"Who are you scolding?" Zhou Lin lightly defended himself. "I’m a dutiful husband now; don’t lump me together with them."
He boasted shamelessly.
Cheng Zhiwei rolled her eyes and pushed Zhou Lin away, "Think of a way to get that Guan Ming to stay away from my sister. Where did that toad even come from, dreaming of swan meat, huh."
"Alright, I’ll handle it."
Zhou Lin went out to make a call and came back after a while to report it was arranged.
Cheng Zhiwei didn’t think too much of it.
Meanwhile, Cheng Zhiyin returned home, only to be doggedly followed by Guan Ming.
Annoyed, Cheng Zhiyin warned, "Stop it, or I’ll call the police."
Guan Ming grabbed her, "Cheng Zhiyin, I admit I was a bit harsh, but I spoke the truth. You’ve lost your reproductive value, who would want you? Besides, you dated Huo Xuan, and I don’t even mind."
Cheng Zhiyin laughed in frustration. Did she need him to mind?
"You don’t think Young Master Huo would marry you, do you? Stop dreaming; his kind of family would never want you, especially since you can’t even have children."
"None of your business." A suave male voice responded.
Then Guan Ming’s face received a punch.
Punch after punch, each landing solidly.
"I haven’t even used harsh words, what are you?"
Guan Ming was beaten without the power to retaliate.
Pretending to be in a hurry, Cheng Zhiyin moved to intervene, stepping on Guan Ming in the process. It was really the first time in her life she saw such an ordinary yet overly confident man.
Even audaciously speaking about her reproductive value.
What was he anyway?
Seeing it was about enough, Cheng Zhiyin hurriedly held back Huo Xuan, "Enough, stop hitting him."
Huo Xuan ceased, then turned a menacing gaze on Cheng Zhiyin, "Is this the man you chose over me?"
His mocking tone was no different from calling her blind.
Cheng Zhiyin bit her lip and looked at him, offering no explanation, but said to Guan Ming, "I’ll say it once more, I have no thoughts about you and certainly won’t marry you."
Guan Ming’s face was filled with resentment, "You’ve cuckolded me, just you wait."
Cheng Zhiyin: "..."
Blind dates weren’t the same as handing out wives. Was it necessary for him?
Guan Ming left, and Cheng Zhiyin glanced at Huo Xuan, then brushed past him.
Her wrist was forcefully gripped.
"Is there something?" Cheng Zhiyin turned around, her tone not particularly pleasant.
"Cheng Zhiyin, haven’t I always said that we need to communicate whatever the issue?" Huo Xuan’s handsome face carried a hint of harshness.
Cheng Zhiyin shook off his hand and stepped back, a shadow covering her face, she said unhurriedly, "Huo Xuan, we’re not suitable."
"That day in the private room, I didn’t kiss anyone." Huo Xuan was explaining, his tone serious and sincere.
