Chapter 370: Chapter 370 My Mom Committed Suicide

Wen Yi found herself unable to speak, her gaze subconsciously seeking out Cheng Zhiwei.

"Cheng Zhiwei, don’t listen to her nonsense. I’m not planning to marry He Ye," she said with a cold laugh, "No matter what, I wouldn’t intrude on someone else’s relationship."

Cheng Zhiwei felt an intense chill in her heart. No wonder Wen Yi spoke of the importance of a good match last time; this was the reason.

He Mingzhu continued, "Cheng Zhiwei, go find another man with your child, you and He Ye are not suitable, nor would the He family accept you."

She was determined to pin the label of a desperate home-wrecker on Cheng Zhiwei’s forehead,

and to spread her infamy far and wide.

But as soon as the words left her mouth, something cold splashed He Mingzhu’s face.

Cheng Zhiwei grabbed a wine glass from the table, which belonged to who knows whom, and doused He Mingzhu with it.

Her voice was as cold as frost, "Since you came on He Ye’s behalf, then take this for him."

Cheng Zhiwei knew that He Mingzhu deliberately came here under He Ye’s guise to humiliate her, so she decided to let the misunderstanding stand.

Getting splashed in front of so many people was equivalent to a slap in the face for He Mingzhu.

Yet she wasn’t angry, instead gently wiping her face with a tissue, she said with feigned helplessness, "It’s understandable that you’re angry, although Xiao Ye had no plans to marry you, he should have clarified things with you instead of leaving you hanging here."

"Your two children are quite adorable. I believe someone would be willing to accept them."

"Accept who?" a cold voice interrupted, as Zhou Lin suddenly appeared.

His gaze, as heavy as substance itself, fixed on He Mingzhu.

He Mingzhu remained calm, showing no concern that Zhou Lin had heard her words, she gently said, "Xiao Ye left, Miss Cheng misunderstood, I was just trying to convince her to see the bigger picture, and she got upset."

Cheng Zhiwei bumped the glass and turned to leave.

Her wrist was grabbed.

Zhou Lin instead took her fingers in his, holding them firmly.

Cheng Zhiwei was about to struggle when she suddenly caught sight of He Mingzhu’s visibly contorted face.

So, she took the initiative to hold Zhou Lin’s hand, her smile beaming, "Thank you, Miss He, for the reminder. You’re right, my two children are adorable, I should find someone who is willing to accept them, and look, there is one right here."

"Cheng Zhiwei, you..." He Mingzhu hadn’t expected the flames to burn back on her, and it took all her restraint to prevent herself from turning hostile.

Cheng Zhiwei, with a challenging glance, said, "I also need to thank you for the reminder."

Although Zhou Lin hadn’t given his assent, Zhou Chenyuan had, and in He Mingzhu’s eyes, Zhou Chenyuan’s agreement meant Zhou Lin was her future husband.

What she thought was a done deal required at least some face from Zhou Lin.

But now, Zhou Lin was openly supporting Cheng Zhiwei.

Still, she always had deep schemes and could endure.

She even put on a generous front, "I’m glad if Miss Cheng is happy."

Cheng Zhiwei pulled Zhou Lin and left.

But as soon as they were outside, she immediately shook off Zhou Lin’s hand, her eyes brimming with unshed tears that she could hardly control.

"Zhiwei." Zhou Lin bent down to hug her.

But Cheng Zhiwei pushed him away, "Thank you."

She walked away quickly.

Zhou Lin followed, pulling her back.

Cheng Zhiwei turned around and glared at him fiercely, "Do you also think I’m damned and unwanted by anyone?"

Zhou Lin tenderly held her chin down, whispering gently, "I want."

Cheng Zhiwei snorted coldly, her heart exploding with discomfort.

That soothing tone from Zhou Lin was just the icing on the bitter cake.

"Zhou Lin, don’t be too much."

"How am I being excessive?" Zhou Lin frowned unhappily, "You said that no one wants you, yet I do. I want all of you."

That wasn’t what Cheng Zhiwei meant, and to continue arguing felt like she was being unreasonable.

She turned and ran outside.

But Zhou Lin, with his long strides, quickly caught up.

He pulled Cheng Zhiwei forcefully, turning her around.

Her tears suddenly fell into his heart.

Zhou Lin instinctively raised his hand, his fingertips touching her tears, burning all the way to his heart.

He had hurried over upon hearing of He Ye’s proposal, only to find He Ye wasn’t even present,

And Cheng Zhiwei was left ridiculed and bullied.

Unable to control her emotions, Cheng Zhiwei crouched in a corner against the wall, weeping loudly,

"Why does it have to be me?"

One thing after another had happened, and now she didn’t even have a home.

Her tears flowed unrestrained.

"Zhiwei." Zhou Lin knelt down, pressing her shoulders, looking her in the eyes, "I’m still here for you."

"And what does that mean? Weren’t you the first one to abandon me?" Cheng Zhiwei’s crying voice was full of resentment.

Zhou Lin clenched his palm, "It’s my fault, I’m sorry."

"If sorry were useful, I’d say it too," Cheng Zhiwei thought of Guo Cuihua who now refused to even see her face, her heart twisting like a knife.

The Cheng Family was no longer her home, and after He Ye proposed, he disappeared.

What had she done wrong to face such incidents one after another,

and to be abandoned over and over?

Zhou Lin pursed his lips and simply lifted Cheng Zhiwei up, took her to his car.

She cried bitterly, and no amount of words could help, so Zhou Lin quietly drove her downstairs and waited for her to stabilize emotionally.

Cheng Zhiwei said a hoarse thank you.

Zhou Lin’s voice was light and tender, "Zhiwei, you know my feelings for you, I was wrong about the past. But I have been trying hard to make it right."

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t listen, already pushing the door open and getting out of the car.

At ten o’clock that night, He Ye called.

He Ye’s exhausted voice came through, filled with remorse, "I’m sorry."

Cheng Zhiwei was stunned, "Sorry?"

He Ye’s voice went hoarse, "I’m sorry, Zhiwei, I had intended to propose to you, to give you a home."

When he found out that Cheng Zhiwei wasn’t Cheng Family’s biological child, he thought he should give her a home, to prevent her from doubting and negating herself.

But in his passionate foolishness, he forgot how cruel reality can be.

Cheng Zhiwei stared at the stark white wall, her eyes a hint of red, "Reason."

She didn’t need those vacuous words but a rational explanation.

He had made a decision, prepared everything, but left her here alone to face it.

"My mother committed suicide."

Immediately, Cheng Zhiwei understood, her lips tightened as she asked, "So you left me here by myself?"

"I’m sorry, Zhiwei, but I couldn’t ignore her."

What more could Cheng Zhiwei say? Surely, she couldn’t ask why Yu Shuhua had not died instead.

She laughed bitterly without speaking. Yu Shuhua had used her own life to stop things, sealing the fate of the matter.

"He Mingzhu said you went to H country?" Cheng Zhiwei asked.

"Yes, she took advantage of my mom’s suicide to put me on the plane, and I’ve just landed."

He immediately reached out to her.

But everything was too late.

"You should’ve discussed it with me beforehand," Cheng Zhiwei said, her voice carrying a complaint.

"I just wanted to give you a home, but I didn’t know they would do this to me," he sobbed in agony.

The hardest thing for him to accept was Yu Shuhua’s betrayal.
