Chapter 363: Chapter 363: If It Weren’t for Cheng Zhiwei Refusing to Let Go of Your Mom
Zhou Ruoki ran very fast, and by the time Cheng Zhiwei gave chase, his figure had already disappeared.
She stood anxiously in the corridor.
Zhou Lin had already walked over to her side and, seeing her concern, soothed her, "Let him have some quiet time."
Cheng Zhiwei hung her head, lost and distraught, "He still won’t forgive me."
Tears filled her eyes.
Zhou Lin looked towards the end of the hallway with a cold expression on his face; he knew where Zhou Ruoki might hide but figured that if the boy didn’t want to see Cheng Zhiwei, then so be it.
Why bother looking for him.
"Are you really okay?" Cheng Zhiwei was still worried, wanting to find Zhou Ruoki, yet looking left and right, she didn’t know where to start.
"All the exits on this floor are guarded; he won’t be able to run away, don’t worry."
Zhou Lin reached out to take her hand but thought better of it, settling for holding her wrist and pulling her back the way they had come.
Zhou Ruoki peered out from the crack of the door, his distinct black and white eyes sliding over with a sense of loss.
He bit his lip, feeling a bit heartbroken.
After a moment, he opened the door and walked out silently.
"Qiqi?" A gentle female voice called out.
Zhou Ruoki turned to look, a trace of wariness on his little face.
He Mingzhu walked over, squatting in front of him, reaching out to touch his cheek but he dodged her hand.
He Mingzhu’s mouth lifted slightly, keeping her gentle demeanor, "Why are you alone in the corridor? Where’s your dad?"
Zhou Ruoki hung his head and didn’t speak.
He Mingzhu looked at his simple and sad appearance, feelings mixed. When she had found out that Cheng Zhiwei had lost another child, she tried to find that child to control Cheng Zhiwei, but to no avail.
And now here he was, right under her nose.
Fortunately, there had been a car accident.
To this day, Zhou Ruoki still wouldn’t forgive Cheng Zhiwei.
When she asked Zhou Ruoki why he was here, she actually knew Cheng Zhiwei had arrived.
She had made the trip here on purpose.
She sighed deliberately, patting Zhou Ruoki’s shoulder, "Is it that person you hate the most who has come?"
Zhou Ruoki retreated a few steps then turned, intending to run away, paying no attention to He Mingzhu.
He was wary of all strangers.
He Mingzhu grabbed him back, her smile beaming, her tone utterly gentle, "Qiqi, why are you running? Don’t you recognize me? I was by your side when your mother died."
Mentioning Seo Zhenzhen’s death, Zhou Ruoki paled, the scene becoming a psychological shadow for him.
He Mingzhu forced herself to tousle his hair, sighing, "Your mother’s death was so tragic, hit so hard by that car."
Zhou Ruoki clenched his fists.
"If it hadn’t been for Cheng Zhiwei’s unwillingness to let go of your mom, delaying for the police, she wouldn’t have died. Good child, she’s dead, don’t you want to avenge her?"
He Mingzhu grew moved as she spoke, "You are already three years old."
A three-year-old child was capable of many things.
So she purposefully mentioned those words repeatedly, reminding Zhou Ruoki that Seo Zhenzhen died because of Cheng Zhiwei.
"Your dad, to be with the murderer who killed your mom, claimed you were her child. But really, can you acknowledge your mother’s killer as your mom?"
"Qiqi, you’re a good child. You must get justice for your mom."
Zhou Ruoki pursed his lips tightly. He didn’t speak, and no one knew what he truly thought.
He Mingzhu stood up, taking his hand and walking toward the hospital room, "There’s a very good way, which is to become family with her, and then deal her a heavy blow, understand?"
She stood at the door of the hospital room, looking in, and then picked up Zhou Ruoki.
From the window, one could see the lively and adorable Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing, Zhou Lin and Cheng Zhiwei standing together, a perfect match in talent and appearance.
An utterly irritating scene.
"Zhou Ruoki, your mother has already been killed by Cheng Zhiwei; you must take revenge." He Mingzhu’s voice was soft as she whispered the most malicious words, bewitching Zhou Ruoki’s heart.
Zhou Ruoki looked on intently.
"Look at Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing; your dad really likes them," He Mingzhu smiled lightly, "you wouldn’t want to hurt them, right?"
Zhou Ruoki hesitated then nodded, "Mhm."
"They are Cheng Zhiwei’s precious treasures. So we’ll just give Cheng Zhiwei a little punishment, make her suffer but not make your dad dislike you."
"What punishment?"
"Become friends with those two children, then take them away from here."
Zhou Ruoki finally snapped out of it, biting his lip, "We can’t hurt them."
"We’re just taking them away to make Cheng Zhiwei feel what pain is, not to hurt them. After a while, we’ll send them back, just a small punishment compared to your mom’s death; it’s nothing."
...
Cheng Zhiwei was in the hospital room, but her heart was still outside, worried about Zhou Ruoki.
While her mind was in turmoil, someone pushed the door open and came in.
"I just bumped into Qiqi outside," He Mingzhu said as she led Zhou Ruoki in, her tone gentle.
Cheng Zhiwei’s expression changed, and she walked over immediately, "Qiqi."
Zhou Ruoki wouldn’t look at Cheng Zhiwei and shook off He Mingzhu’s hand to run to Lin Yu’s side, settling down next to her.
Cheng Zhiwei bit her lip, deeply upset.
He Mingzhu glanced at her, a graceful greeting, "Zhiwei, are you here to see Uncle Zhou?"
In front of the Zhou family, she didn’t mention that Cheng Zhiwei was He Ye’s girlfriend, showing enough grace and generosity.
Cheng Zhiwei nodded, "Miss He."
He Mingzhu sat down on her own, a shallow smile on her face, "The children are all so cute."
Zhou Lin frowned.
Lin Yu felt awkward, as the arranged marriage hadn’t yet been brought up with Cheng Zhiwei, and she hadn’t expected He Mingzhu to come.
Cheng Zhiwei called Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing over to her, "Say goodbye to grandpa and grandma; we should be heading back."
Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing obediently said goodbye.
Cheng Xing then ran to Zhou Ruoki, whispering, "Qiqi, you’ll go to kindergarten soon, okay?"
Zhou Ruoki hesitated before nodding.
Cheng Xing smiled happily and made a pinky promise with Zhou Ruoki.
He Mingzhu’s subtle smile betrayed a hint of triumph.
Zhou Lin grabbed the car keys, "I’ll take you."
Zhou Chenyuan coughed lightly, in a muted tone, "Zhiwei drove here; there’s no need for you. Xiao Yu, you go see them off."
Lin Yu stood up quickly, taking Cheng Xing lovingly, "I’ll take you down."
Zhou Lin decisively picked up Cheng Xing, his expression inscrutable, "I just so happen to have business at the company; let’s go together."
Without waiting for any response, he left carrying Cheng Xing.
Cheng Zhiwei left with Cheng Yang.
Zhou Chenyuan rubbed his brow, saying to He Mingzhu, "Mingzhu, you’ve seen it, Ah Lin really likes those two kids. If you..."
"Uncle," He Mingzhu smiled, interrupting him, "Ah Lin’s kindness to the children shows he’s a sentimental person, a quality that is truly rare and valuable. Besides, the kids are cute; I like them too."
