The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 350: It’s Him

Chapter 350: Chapter 350: It’s Him

Cheng Zhiwei knew she couldn’t get anything out of him, and she was indeed exhausted, with several abrasions on her arms faintly aching.

She returned to her room, washed up briefly, and then lay down on the bed.

Her wounds kept hurting, but the thought of Zhou Ruoki made the emotional pain overshadow the physical.

Especially Zhou Ruoki’s last words, "I hate you," kept tearing at Cheng Zhiwei’s heart.

How could she win back that child?

After everyone had rested, Guo Cuihua sat in the living room for half an hour before returning to her room.

Cheng Shang was lying on the bed, but Guo Cuihua knew he wasn’t asleep.

After many years as a couple, they were the most familiar with each other.

Guo Cuihua asked softly, "Old Cheng, the death of Seo Zhenzhen isn’t Zhiwei’s fault. Don’t let outsiders disrupt our family’s peace."

Cheng Shang remained motionless, enveloped in an atmosphere of grief.

"Seo Zhenzhen was no good anyway, what she has done to Zhiwei over these six years..."

"Enough," Cheng Shang burst out coldly, mockingly saying, "She’s already dead, and you still have to gossip here. Don’t you feel guilty?"

Guo Cuihua paused. Cheng Shang was just as Cheng Zhiwei had said, losing control whenever Seo Zhenzhen was mentioned.

Could it really be that Cheng Shang had betrayed her?

Guo Cuihua felt a chill in her heart.

"You know how she harmed Zhiwei initially. Today’s car accident was because she wanted to hurt the child. What does that have to do with Zhiwei?"

"She’s already dead," Cheng Shang suddenly sat up from the bed.

Under the white light, his eyes were nearly bloodshot, his complexion gaunt and somber.

That version of Cheng Shang made Guo Cuihua feel like a stranger.

"She’s already gone. Why are you still clinging to her?" Cheng Shang grabbed at his hair in despair, his emotions on the verge of collapse.

Guo Cuihua stood still in shock.

What exactly was Cheng Shang hiding?

The next day, Cheng Shang still didn’t come out of his room during breakfast. Guo Cuihua knocked on his door only to find it locked from the inside.

Cheng Zhiwei watched coldly, her heart filled with mockery.

She didn’t care.

After breakfast, she took Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing to Sparkling Sky City.

She was going to meet Zhou Ruoki.

Zhou Lin was at home. He quietly instructed the servants to take Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing out to play while he pulled Cheng Zhiwei aside.

He gripped her wrist tightly. His lips parted several times, his expression unchanged, yet somehow Cheng Zhiwei detected his hesitation.

Her heart trembled, her voice firm yet slow, "Has the paternity test result come out?"

Zhou Lin pulled her tightly into his embrace, his arms holding her firmly, his hoarse voice filled with deep nasal tones, "It’s him."

Two words made Cheng Zhiwei’s body tremble.

Her hands clutched Zhou Lin’s shirt tightly, her knuckles turning white, "It really is him..."

"It’s him."

Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes tightly, tears rolling down, her muffled crying pressed against Zhou Lin’s chest, her every nerve entwined with regret and self-loathing.

Zhou Lin kissed her forehead, "He’s still around us."

"Where is he?" Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t wait to see Zhou Ruoki. She wanted to tell him that she was his mother.

She would definitely protect him in the future and ensure such incidents never happened again.

Zhou Lin let go of her and led her upstairs. When they reached Zhou Ruoki’s room door, he finally let go, whispering, "Go in."

Cheng Zhiwei nodded and walked in quietly.

In the pale blue children’s room, Zhou Ruoki was nowhere to be seen.

"Qiqi." Cheng Zhiwei’s heart leaped.

Zhou Lin frowned, glancing around, and immediately turned to order someone to search.

Cheng Zhiwei walked in, staring blankly around Zhou Ruoki’s room, the scent that uniquely belonged to him made her unable to hold back her tears again.

After staying in the room for a few minutes and about to leave, Cheng Zhiwei suddenly turned towards the wardrobe at the corner of the wall. The wardrobe door was ajar, and a piece of blue fabric was faintly visible.

Cheng Zhiwei squatted down, slowly pulling the wardrobe door open.

"Qiqi," Cheng Zhiwei called out, her voice choked.

Inside, Zhou Ruoki was hugging his knees, his expression vacant.

He was as if deaf to Cheng Zhiwei’s voice.

Cheng Zhiwei knelt in front of the wardrobe, cautiously reaching out to embrace Zhou Ruoki.

Just as she was about to touch him, Zhou Ruoki shifted away inside, resisting Cheng Zhiwei’s touch.

His pale little face was devoid of any expression.

"Qiqi," Cheng Zhiwei’s throat was blocked with a thousand words, all turning into a pleading gentleness, "what are you doing here?"

Zhou Ruoki buried his head back in his knees and became motionless again.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fingers, her eyes reddening, she softly pleaded, "Qiqi, I’m your mom, we have the DNA test results, I really am your mom. Won’t you come out, let Mom hug you?"

Zhou Ruoki remained motionless.

Cheng Zhiwei collapsed to the ground, Zhou Ruoki’s indifferent attitude was the greatest punishment for her.

"Zhiwei, let me do it," Zhou Lin forcefully helped Cheng Zhiwei up, the light fell on her tear-streaked face, looking wronged and pitiful.

Zhou Lin bent down close to her, his coarse fingertips gently wiping her cheeks, tenderly and deeply consoling her, "Seo Zhenzhen’s death hit him too hard, he needs time."

"But I am his mother," Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes, feeling terribly bitter inside.

"Zhiwei."

"I know, I just can’t quite accept it," Cheng Zhiwei moved aside willingly.

Zhou Lin crouched in front of the wardrobe, coaxing in a low voice, "Qiqi, come to Daddy."

Only then did Zhou Ruoki look up.

Zhou Lin effortlessly lifted Zhou Ruoki out of the wardrobe and went downstairs.

Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing were in the living room. Seeing Zhou Ruoki’s condition, Cheng Xing immediately ran up, asking concernedly, "Is Qiqi sick?"

Zhou Ruoki sat on the sofa as if he didn’t hear.

No matter how Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing played, he always sat like that, but when Cheng Zhiwei tried to get close, he would actively avoid her.

He allowed everyone else close to him, except for Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei felt unbearable pain inside, as if a large hand was gripping her heart, making breathing difficult.

She forced a smile, watching Zhou Ruoki from a distance all day.

Zhou Lin couldn’t stand it anymore, he dragged Cheng Zhiwei to the balcony, and looked down frowning, "Are you planning to cry yourself blind?"

Cheng Zhiwei bit her lip, turning her face away, tears uncontrollably streaming down.

"I’m sorry to him."

He hated her.

Zhou Lin wrapped her in his arms, his chin resting on her head, his heart tenderly aching, "Zhiwei, we’ve found him, haven’t we? There’s plenty of time to be with him in the future, he will eventually get through this."

"I know."

Cheng Zhiwei understood the logic, but her heart just couldn’t get past that hurdle.

Dinner was cooked by Zhou Lin; Zhou Ruoki ate very little, Cheng Zhiwei was equally tasteless, the atmosphere heavy.

Zhou Lin’s brows never relaxed, his expression becoming severe as he looked at Zhou Ruoki.
