Chapter 327: Chapter 327: Unethical Behavior, Acting Recklessly
Xu Tian was resolute, convinced that, with her abilities, divorce would not lead to starvation.
Moreover, even without working, the money her father left her at his deathbed was more than enough to raise He Yuming into adulthood.
She would no longer stay with the He family.
"Xiao Tian, what kind of angry words are you saying?" Mother He started to panic, aware of Xu Tian’s importance to the company. It was often said that the company’s improvement was largely due to Xu Tian’s efforts, and even Father He had privately praised her for her exceptional abilities.
Her insistence on He Lanzhi’s return was simply because he was her son, and she had to support him, with no other intentions and certainly not to drive Xu Tian out.
Xu Tian patted He Yuming’s shoulder, signaling him to go to Cheng Zhiwei, then she straightened her dress and formed a cold smile on her lips, "When I first came to the He family, I brought nothing with me, and now that I leave, I will not ask for anything. However, He Yuming is my son, and he can only belong to me."
After saying this, she gave Cheng Zhiwei a look, indicating for her to take He Yuming away.
"Xu Tian, isn’t it nice for a family to live together in harmony? Do you really want to make He Yuming grow up without a father?" He Lanzhi suddenly softened her tone, "I’ll treat you well in the future."
"I don’t need it, keep Seo Zhenzhen for yourself," Xu Tian had never expected to be a loving and close-knit family with He Lanzhi from the start.
He Lanzhi let out a sinister laugh, "Seo Zhenzhen, she’s already left, didn’t you know?"
"What do you mean?" Cheng Zhiwei stopped all actions at once and looked at He Lanzhi.
He Lanzhi laughed maliciously, "You really thought Seo Zhenzhen could be imprisoned? You’re too naive, Cheng Zhiwei."
Cheng Zhiwei felt a sudden tension in her brain, overwhelming her with a sensation of oxygen deprivation that darkened her vision.
Xu Tian was also shocked, momentarily forgetting her own predicament and demanding sternly, "Was it you?"
He Lanzhi clenched her fists and laughed coldly, "It has nothing to do with me. Who in Yucheng has such power that I need to spell it out for you?"
"Zhiwei," Xu Tian, worried, clutched Cheng Zhiwei’s arm, "Don’t panic, I’ll ask someone to inquire at the police station."
"Who else but him." Cheng Zhiwei ground her teeth and murmured, then laughed again, "He really hasn’t changed, still so blind."
Taking a deep breath, she held onto Xu Tian’s hand tightly, "Let’s leave this place first."
He Lanzhi wouldn’t let them leave, but Xu Tian was prepared; she had brought bodyguards with her, six in total.
The He family’s servants were no match for the bodyguards, quickly getting battered and bruised. Yet since the servants refused to stand down, the bodyguards had to forcefully push past them.
Xu Tian led He Yuming outside. As she passed by Mother He, her steps faltered for a moment and her voice was icy, "I’m sorry, I cannot let my son live with someone of deplorable character. I will no longer attend the company, and for the matter of divorce, I will have my lawyer come to discuss it with you tomorrow."
"Xiao Tian." Mother He sounded somewhat heartbroken.
She truly hadn’t anticipated such an outcome.
He Lanzhi frowned in displeasure, watching Xu Tian, "You really think our family can’t do without you?"
Xu Tian raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "I never harbored such a thought, I simply cannot stand the sight of you, let alone live under the same roof. You disgust me."
"You..." He Lanzhi couldn’t maintain her facade of gentleness any longer.
In fact, he never truly liked Xu Tian; his only wish was to confine her here, to slowly torment her as compensation for the debt incurred by his current state.
"Let her go," an aging, muffled voice commanded.
It was Father He, who, leaning on a cane and trembling, came over with the butler’s support. Due to paralysis on one side, he could barely stand and had difficulty speaking clearly, but no one dared to ignore his words, so the servants quickly made way for him.
Xu Tian turned to look over and reined in her prideful demeanor, "Dad."
He Lanzhi had the servants wheel over the wheelchair, voicing her discontent, "She is my wife, He Yuming is my son—where could they possibly go? It’s better for them to stay at home."
Father He didn’t even glance at her but glared fiercely at Mother He, "Foolish woman."
Mother He, embarrassed, attempted to explain, "I was just..."
"Just what? Don’t you know he’s a waste?" He took a moment to catch his breath after speaking so much before continuing, "The reason we had him marry was to have a descendant. Xiao Tian isn’t his wife; she is the mother of our family’s heir."
Cheng Zhiwei felt the naked disdain from his own father, and it whitened his face with anger.
He clenched his fists, yet could only swallow his pride and apologize, "Dad, I know I was wrong."
He thought, it was all Seo Zhenzhen’s fault for making him stay away from home for so long, becoming estranged from his parents.
Father He paid him no mind and gestured to He Yuming, "Come here."
He Yuming looked at Xu Tian and, receiving her nod, obediently went over, "Grandpa."
Father He gently touched He Yuming’s hair, his demeanor softening, "Study hard."
He was old now, and having become half-disabled, he couldn’t stop his wife from bringing back that rebellious son, but while he still could move, he had to look after his grandson.
He Yuming nodded obediently, "Got it, Grandpa."
"Let’s go." Father He waved them away. With him there, Xu Tian could easily take He Yuming away.
Mother He hastily took a few steps after them and turned to complain, "What are you doing?"
Father He’s cane hit the ground with a startling sound, "Xu Tian is capable and can guide and teach him well. In the future, no one else will meddle in his affairs, and neither will you go see him at will."
Mother He became angry, protesting, "He’s my grandson; why shouldn’t I be able to see him?"
"It’s precisely because you fished out that scourge from the police station." Father He looked coldly at Cheng Zhiwei; there wasn’t a trace of father-son affection in his eyes.
"He’s our son; could you really just watch him go to prison?"
"Exactly, he is our son, and naturally, I can’t let him spend his life in prison, but you shouldn’t have brought He Yuming here." Father He enunciated firmly, as that was his valued heir, growing up—how could he allow Cheng Zhiwei to ruin him.
"He Yuming is my son," Cheng Zhiwei argued, "He should grow up in the He family."
"Silence." Father He lost his patience and swung his cane, "Disgraceful in conduct, presumptuous in action."
Outside the gates of the He family home, a car was already waiting.
Xu Tian thanked Cheng Zhi before taking her hand, reassuringly holding her cold fingers, "Don’t worry too much about Seo Zhenzhen. I’ve already had someone look into it."
Cheng Zhiwei was in a daze, feeling that a peaceful life was so hard to come by; after all, she was no longer competing for anything.
"Let’s head back," Cheng Zhiwei said with a headache.
Having caught a cold already, and after such a commotion, she felt exhausted.
