The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 307: You Know I Did It Not For The Child, But For You

Chapter 307: Chapter 307: You Know I Did It Not For The Child, But For You

Zhou Lin’s demand was something Cheng Zhiwei could not fulfill, but giving him their two children was even more impossible.

It seemed men were inherently despicable, using children to trap women.

Her eyes brimmed with redness; it had been three years, and once again she felt humiliated and powerless because of him.

"Zhou Lin, back then I didn’t hand the children over to you according to our agreement, but now that you already have a child, must you cruelly separate us?" Cheng Zhiwei’s voice carried a patience laced with a choked tone.

"Zhiwei, you know it’s not about the children for me, it’s about you," Zhou Lin grasped her shoulders forcefully, his intent had always been to keep her.

But she wouldn’t give him a chance.

He had no other choice.

Cheng Zhiwei felt an overwhelming sense of irony; it wasn’t about her at all, it was all for himself.

"If I agree to this, can you guarantee you’ll never bother the children and me again?" Cheng Zhiwei stared at him steadily, disgust and desperation swirling in her eyes.

"Yes."

"Fine, I agree."

Zhou Lin felt a piercing pain in his heart; he actually thought she wouldn’t agree, considering how much she despised him, how could she possibly accept such an unreasonable demand.

He thought he could then have a legitimate reason to be near her.

But she was only eager to set clear boundaries with him.

Zhou Lin didn’t feel happy at all, instead, his heart ached more than before.

Cheng Zhiwei took out her mobile phone, pulled up a recording app, and handed it to Zhou Lin, "Repeat what you just said."

She didn’t trust him.

Initially, he had said dinner, now it had changed to spending a night with him; she feared he would recant and make even more outrageous demands later.

Zhou Lin’s throat moved; he had really mellowed down over the years, forcefully suppressing his emotions while his gaze tightly focused on her face.

"You spend tonight with me, and I will never bother you and the children again."

Cheng Zhiwei saved the recording, "Then please remember what you said."

She put her phone in her bag and asked, "Where are we going?"

She had an air of having resigned herself to whatever would come since she had agreed.

Zhou Lin took her fingers and held them tightly in his own palm.

Naturally, Cheng Zhiwei was reluctant, scolding him in a low voice, "Let go."

Zhou Lin held on tighter, his voice low and slightly provocative, "You won’t even let me hold your hand, how do you plan to accept me later?"

"After all, we haven’t been together for three years, I don’t think you can be open with me all of a sudden."

"Shut up," Cheng Zhiwei’s cheeks flushed, unsure whether from anger or from being provoked by his shameless remarks.

Zhou Lin laughed softly, his mood finally lifting.

He settled Cheng Zhiwei in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and then drove off.

Cheng Zhiwei thought he would choose a nearby hotel, but he drove for over half an hour instead, the scenery outside becoming increasingly familiar.

Until the familiar villa appeared before her eyes.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fingers, but her expression remained indifferent, "Any hotel would have been fine."

"I am not that casual a person," Zhou Lin unlocked the car, "The code hasn’t changed; you go in first, I’ll park the car."

Cheng Zhiwei got out of the car, standing in front of the gate, the familiar numbers flashed through her mind, and after several seconds of hesitation, she pressed each familiar number.

"Ding."

The gate opened.

Walking inside, familiar feelings enveloped her.

Three years had passed, and the living room still looked the same as when she had left it.

Her eyes suddenly stung, Cheng Zhiwei lowered her gaze.

It wasn’t until the sound of keys clanging that Cheng Zhiwei was jolted awake, she instantly collected all her emotions, turned, and looked at Zhou Lin.

"I’m going to shower," she said, lifting her foot to head upstairs.

Zhou Lin gently embraced her as he held her wrist, his voice hoarse, "Okay, come down for dinner after you’ve had a bath."

Dinner?

Cheng Zhiwei felt somewhat irritable; she didn’t like this feeling.

If he wanted it, she might as well give it to him.

Quick battle, quick decision, and then never interact again.

"What do you want now?" she questioned him.

Her resistance was so evident.

Zhou Lin lifted his hand to touch her cheek, whispering with a smile, "Hmm, let’s eat first. I’m worried you’ll get hungry. After all, we have a long time ahead, and it would really spoil the mood if you had to stop because you were hungry."

He intentionally made it sound ambiguous, though he was actually very pained inside.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t bother responding to him and turned to go upstairs to bathe.

She stood in front of the wardrobe for a while and eventually persuaded herself; she was already here, there was no point in being pretentious.

She opened the door of the wardrobe and was stunned again by what she saw inside.

The clothes were hers from three years ago.

They were washed and pressed perfectly, still carrying a faint scent.

There were also a few new pieces next to them, still with the tags on, also in her size.

Seeing all this, Cheng Zhiwei didn’t feel warmth but rather irony.

Did he really think such small gestures would make her forgive him?

If that was all it took, then she, Cheng Zhiwei, was really pathetic.

She casually took a nightgown and robe and went to take her bath.

As for the fact that her usual body wash was set out in the bathroom, it no longer caused any fluctuation in her emotions.

Cheng Zhiwei took a long time to bathe, so long that Zhou Lin knocked on the bathroom door, "Are you alright?"

Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes, "I’ll be short."

"Hmm."

The sound of footsteps faded away.

Cheng Zhiwei turned off the shower; she actually wanted to delay time since she was reluctant to come in the first place. The longer she could stay out of bed later, the better.

After bathing, she went downstairs; the dining table was already full with a large spread of dishes.

Zhou Lin poured some red wine, his eyebrows lifting as he looked at her, his voice gentle, "It’s all Wang Mei’s cooking."

He had ordered the meal from Wang Mei’s restaurant.

Cheng Zhiwei casually chose a seat and sat down, her lips twitching faintly, "You went to the trouble."

Zhou Lin sat down across from her, his eyes smiling, his expression growing even more gentle and warm, as if they were a loving couple.

Cheng Zhiwei ate slowly. Occasionally, Zhou Lin offered her some dishes, but Cheng Zhiwei didn’t respond.

"Not to your taste?" Zhou Lin asked casually.

He could see her unwillingness and within that reluctance, a touch of nervousness.

"I’m not hungry." Cheng Zhiwei put down her chopsticks, grabbed the wine glass and drank the red wine in one gulp, her lips curling into a cool smile, "Why don’t we start now?"

She couldn’t stand his slow-boiling-frog approach.

It was just a transaction, no need for all the sentimentality.

Uninformed people might think there was deep affection between them.

Zhou Lin’s smile faded slightly; this was what he wanted, but Cheng Zhiwei’s unwillingness combined with her attitude of quick battle, quick decision made his mood not so good.

He got up crisply and walked over.

When his palm rested on Cheng Zhiwei’s shoulder, he didn’t miss her suddenly clenched fingers and her suddenly tensed body.

It was just a play of words; in reality, she was very timid.
