Chapter 253: Chapter 253: A Useless Person Who Only Sheds Tears When Something Goes Wrong

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t want to say anything anymore, she just got into the car and turned her head to look out the window on the other side.

Even though she had no feelings for him anymore, she still felt extremely bitter and uncomfortable when he spoke for Seo Zhenzhen.

Zhou Lin got into the car and didn’t try to coax Cheng Zhiwei like he used to. These days, besides giving Seo Zhenzhen resources, he hadn’t met her face to face; Cheng Zhiwei was just too sensitive about Seo Zhenzhen’s matters.

It was only a moment before soft sobbing could be heard.

Zhou Lin couldn’t keep up his facade and turned his head to comfort her in a low voice, "It’s my fault, don’t cry."

Cheng Zhiwei shoved his hand away, "Go find your Seo Zhenzhen."

"You are my wife, why would I go looking for her?" Zhou Lin hugged her to soothe her, "Don’t be upset."

Cheng Zhiwei pushed his hand away, "Don’t talk to me."

Zhou Lin still held her without letting go, "Alright, I won’t talk."

Just then, his phone rang. He answered the call, and He Lanzhi’s voice came through, "Ah Lin, come to the hospital."

Half an hour earlier, at the He family’s place.

He Lanzhi was kneeling in the study, and Father He’s whip was raised, falling hard on He Lanzhi’s body, "How did I give birth to such a curse like you? Are you happy only when you have killed me with anger?"

Mother He’s eyes brimmed with tears, "That Seo Zhenzhen is no good, why don’t you ever listen?"

"If she’s no good, is Xu Tian good? Marrying such a bastard child, who knows how many people are laughing at me behind my back."

Moreover, Xu Tian always disagreed with him, and marrying someone like that really aggravated him.

"If it weren’t for your debauchery, with no woman willing to marry you, our family would never have sought a marriage alliance with the Xu family," Father He said, his tone full of disappointment in his son, blaming He Lanzhi’s playboy lifestyle for the situation.

"And what if Xu Tian is a bastard child? Her birth wasn’t her choice, and she’s far more capable than you are."

"Do you want me to eat under her gaze? That’s our family’s company," He Lanzhi suddenly stood up, unable to accept it.

"Shut your mouth. If you were capable, you could marry the woman you want to marry. If you’re not, then shut up and behave," Father He, clutching his chest, struggled to breathe.

"I’ve already said I would never marry her, and if you force me, well, I’m telling you, I will never share a bed with her."

"You... you..."

Father He fainted with rage.

When Zhou Lin arrived at the hospital with Cheng Zhiwei, Father He was still in emergency care. Xu Tian hadn’t even had time to change out of her clothes, simply donning a coat over her dress, keeping Mother He company.

She whispered comfortingly, "Dad will be okay."

Xu Tian was just a stranger who had recently married He Lanzhi; she even knew to comfort Mother He. Meanwhile, He Lanzhi, the son, just stood aside, head lowered, lost in his thoughts.

Zhou Lin saw him looking dejected and frowned, stepping forward to ask, "What happened?"

He Lanzhi, now sober, glared at Zhou Lin with red eyes, "I didn’t mean to provoke him."

Cheng Zhiwei rolled her eyes disdainfully and walked over to Xu Tian’s side, "Zhou Lin is here, it’ll be fine."

Mother He shook her head and whispered lowly, "His high blood pressure is very serious, and being angered like this again, I’m very worried."

Before she could finish speaking, the doctor came out, speaking regretfully, "Moderate cerebral infarction, the family should be prepared mentally, there’s a high likelihood he’ll be paralyzed."

Mother He’s vision darkened, but thankfully Xu Tian was there to support her.

He Lanzhi clenched his fists tightly, his voice filled with disbelief, "How could he... it’s not possible..."

Xu Tian knew she couldn’t count on him, didn’t bother with him, and made a call instructing the housekeeper and assistant to arrange everything properly in an orderly manner.

Her competence made He Lanzhi look like a useless waste.

With everything in place, He Lanzhi still looked incredulous.

Xu Tian frowned, walked up to him, "If you’re fine, then help mom go rest."

A flash of anger crossed He Lanzhi’s eyes, and he almost roared at Xu Tian, "It’s all because of you. If you hadn’t insisted on marrying into our family, my dad would never have fainted."

He blamed everything on Xu Tian.

Xu Tian laughed out of anger. In the whole of Yucheng, apart from her willingness to marry him, where else could he find a girl willing to marry him?

That he was a waste and still had the audacity to blame her.

"If you had the ability to marry Seo Zhenzhen, none of this would have happened." Xu Tian retorted unkindly, her eyes sweeping over him full of disdain and contempt, "Look at yourself, a waste who only knows how to cry when things go wrong."

In front of Mother He, her words were ugly.

But Mother He wasn’t angry; instead, she took Xu Tian’s side and said coldly to He Lanzhi, "Get out."

With his head lowered and not speaking, He Lanzhi’s eyes were especially filled with resentment, "Mom, do you blame me too? I’m your own son, and you’re siding with her?"

He couldn’t understand. It was Xu Tian who had schemed to marry into the He family. It was her malicious intentions that brought such disaster to the He family.

"He Lanzhi, do you still not realize what you’ve done wrong?" Xu Tian derided. He Lanzhi really was the epitome of impotent fury.

"What did I do wrong?" He Lanzhi questioned loudly, "This is my house, not yours, Xu Tian. You’re the one who should leave."

It looked like they were about to start arguing.

Zhou Lin spoke up expressionlessly, "After uncle is settled, then you can discuss these issues."

Mother He turned away with a sad face to wipe her tears.

After spending over an hour in the hospital, and Father He was rescued from the operation room, Zhou Lin left with Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei was clearly not in a good mood and didn’t even let Zhou Lin into the master bedroom. Zhou Lin was at a loss, "Why are you taking out someone else’s problems on me?"

Standing at the bedroom door, Cheng Zhiwei half-closed it, blocking him from entering, and said expressionlessly without blinking, "I don’t know, I just feel uncomfortable."

Zhou Lin understood that the moodiness of a pregnant woman could be baffling, but this was the first time she wanted to sleep separately, and he wouldn’t allow it.

He reached out to touch her cheek, and as he lowered his head, his warm breath brushed her face, his voice tender and deep, "Zhiwei, it was Lanzhi who was in the wrong this time, I know that."

What he meant was, he wouldn’t support He Lanzhi.

Cheng Zhiwei thought for a moment, her lips pressed slightly as she looked at him, "You and He Lanzhi are close brothers. If he’s that kind of person, you’re probably not much different."

Zhou Lin was amused by this remark, "Just because I’m close to him means I’m the same type of person?"

"Birds of a feather flock together. I always feel that he must have hurt me, and you were on his side," Cheng Zwei’s tone was cool, "That’s why I don’t want to see you right now."

Zhou Lin’s eyes darkened. He couldn’t refute Cheng Zhiwei’s words because it was true.

He Lanzhi had indeed done something very excessive, and he had taken He Lanzhi’s side. It was during that incident that her ears became damaged.

He remained silent.

Confusion swirled in Cheng Zhiwei’s clearly defined eyes, and almost subconsciously, she murmured, "So it’s true. He hurt me, and you really helped him."
