Chapter 24: Chapter 24 You Don’t Like Me, I Don’t Like You Anymore
Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t contain her snicker.
Zhou Lin’s face grew even darker, and after giving her a deep look, he swore, "Scram."
Wu Chengshuang immediately scurried away with alacrity.
Cheng Zhiwei laughed even louder, her whole body was tilted, leaning limply against the car, "How interesting, even though I’m your wife, I’m treated as someone you’re trying to exploit. Young President Zhou really has a way."
Zhou Lin frowned and strode over, grabbed her wrist, and pinned her against the car body, almost gnashing his teeth as he coldly sneered, "Cheng Zhiwei, it’s all your own doing, asking for humiliation like this."
Cheng Zhiwei looked at the handsome face so close to hers, her vision blurred with intoxication. She reached out to hook his neck, pulling him closer to her, "Zhou Lin, what are you doing here?"
She was dizzy and lacked any real sense of judgment.
His breath, heavy with the scent of alcohol, was on her face. Zhou Lin slightly turned his head away, annoyed, "Don’t pretend to be dumb."
She had known who he was just a moment ago, and now she didn’t recognize him?
As soon as he finished speaking, his face was slapped. Before he could get angry, Cheng Zhiwei had already forcefully pushed him away, "Stay away from me, I hate that face."
After pushing him away, she staggered towards him, leaning against the car, her gaze blurry as she attempted to snuggle into his embrace. Her voice was soft and whimpering, "Zhou Lin, why don’t you like me? I like you so much, I’ve liked you since we were little..."
A litany of confessions.
Her whole body burrowed into his embrace as if driven by some compulsion, "I feel so terrible, Zhou Lin."
"I wish you’d suffocate," Zhou Lin said irritably, trying to pry her off him while he spoke.
But the frail woman, her strength bolstered by alcohol, clung stubbornly to his waist, and he couldn’t immediately peel her off. Anger seeped into his dark eyes, "Cheng Zhiwei, let go."
"I won’t," Cheng Zhiwei stubbornly refused like a child, looking up at him with a hazy expression, "Zhou Lin, I like you too, can’t you... like me back a bit?"
Zhou Lin scoffed. Did she think by spouting these words while drunk, he would go soft on her?
Just as he was about to start hurling insults, he was suddenly pushed hard. Had he not reacted quickly, he would have embarrassingly tumbled to the ground.
"Cheng Zhiwei." Zhou Lin growled her name through clenched teeth, "Are you sick?"
The coquettishness in Cheng Zhiwei’s expression was replaced by sadness, her gaze unfocused, showing she was still not sober, but her speech was clear, "I don’t like you anymore, Zhou Lin. I want a divorce."
Zhou Lin’s temples throbbed. Was she having a drunken fit?
"You don’t like me, and I don’t like you anymore either." Cheng Zhiwei wobbled as she walked out, "That’s right, I don’t like you anymore, I want a divorce, a divorce."
She muttered as she staggered out, lurching and looking as though she might fall any second.
Zhou Lin’s brow was furrowed into a deep frown. He didn’t want to interfere, but if he didn’t, with Cheng Zhiwei looking like this, she might end up being taken home by some stranger. Tomorrow’s headline could very well read ’Young Madam Zhou doesn’t return home at night.’
What a hassle.
He quickly caught up to Cheng Zhiwei, "I’ll take you home."
Cheng Zhiwei swatted his hand away, shouting, "Stay away from me."
"Cheng Zhiwei."
Fueled by alcohol, Cheng Zhiwei squinted at Zhou Lin. All the grievances stored in her heart, the words she dared not say, all rushed to her throat at that moment, "That’s not my home, I’m going back to my own home."
"Zhou Lin, you’re such a bastard. I’ve liked you for so many years, and yet you like someone else. If I had known, I wouldn’t have talked to you. I shouldn’t have cared about you."
"You cared about me?" Zhou Lin responded with a mocking laugh, then picked her up on his shoulder.
Cheng Zhiwei felt a sudden loss of balance, her head hanging down, and she let out a sharp scream, pounding Zhou Lin’s back with her fists. "You bastard, put me down."
The commotion was quite something.
Zhou Lin almost lost his grip, his face darkening as he slapped her buttocks twice, "Be quiet."
He knew which floor she lived on, so he went straight to her room.
Tossing her on the bed, he turned to leave.
"Zhou Lin?" Cheng Zhiwei sat up on the bed, lunged forward with all her might, and Zhou Lin, turning around unexpectedly, fell forward. His head hit the ground with a "thud," and everything went dark before his eyes.
A chill on his lips, the familiar soft touch assaulted him.
Zhou Lin stiffened, then angrily threw off Cheng Zhiwei as if he had just suffered a great humiliation. His eyes dark as ink, he truly regretted worrying about her safety and bringing her back.
The door slammed shut with a bang.
Cheng Zhiwei lay on the floor, dazed and unaware of anything.
The next morning, she got up from the floor, feeling uncomfortable all over, especially her head, which was as heavy as a thousand pounds. Looking around, she shook her head helplessly, wondering who Xu Tian had found. Whoever it was had been utterly unreliable, just leaving her on the floor like that.
She remembered drinking the night before, but after that, nothing at all. She thought she must have been brought back by someone arranged by Xu Tian, so she had no recollection of the incident where she had almost forced herself on Zhou Lin.
After getting up, taking a bath, and changing clothes, Cheng Zhiwei felt a bit clearer and finally went to get her phone. She had drunk quite a bit last night; Wu Chengshuang should have kept his promise.
Before she could make a call, He Ye’s call came through. He had taken the earliest flight from Yucheng and was already outside her door.
He had called because no one answered his knocks on the door.
Cheng Zhiwei opened the door, and He Ye looked her up and down. Seeing that besides the dark circles under her eyes, she appeared fine, he breathed a sigh of relief, "I heard about what happened."
Cheng Zhiwei felt ashamed, "I’m sorry, senior. I let you down."
"It’s not your fault. I’ve already spoken with Shopping Guide Wen, and she would prefer to choose you," He Ye reassured her heart, "Let’s go there one more time."
Getting the opportunity back would be great, so Cheng Zhiwei quickly agreed and went with He Ye to the place where they had auditioned.
Upon entering the conference room, Cheng Zhiwei found Zhou Lin and Bai Zhuzhu were also there.
Bai Zhuzhu greeted her with feigned surprise, "Sister Zhiwei, you’re here! Were you okay last night? I was so worried about you, I wanted to send you a message but was afraid you were still angry with me."
She purposely brought up last night in front of He Ye, wanting him to look down on Cheng Zhiwei.
Zhou Lin’s expression had turned stormy the moment Cheng Zhiwei walked in with He Ye, his gaze icy cold.
Cheng Zhiwei simply ignored him.
He Ye asked in a low voice, "What happened last night?"
"Nothing," said Cheng Zhiwei, not wanting him to worry.
"Sister Zhiwei had to drink fifty shots of baijiu with Producer Wu for the theme song yesterday," Bai Zhuzhu relished the misfortune, deliberately making it sound ambiguous, "Last night must have been tough for Sister Zhiwei."
