Chapter 210: Fine, when I die, you’ll be free.

Chapter 210: Chapter 210: Fine, when I die, you’ll be free.

Zhou Lin’s face turned white, but his large hand grasped Cheng Zhiwei’s hand, prying open her fingers inch by inch. He pulled out the scissors and threw them onto the floor.

With his other arm, he wrapped around Cheng Zhiwei’s shoulders and pulled her into his embrace. Zhou Lin’s voice suddenly became fierce, "You want to die, but did I agree to it?"

Cheng Zhiwei merely lowered her head slightly and whispered into his ear with a very low voice, "Zhou Lin, you’ll die with me."

She wanted to die, but the thought of what he might do to her family after her death stopped her.

So, it was better to drag him down with her.

Zhou Lin’s pupils shook violently, disbelieving yet somehow feeling it made sense, "So, you want my life?"

"Yes, your life and Seo Zhenzhen’s life, I want them both." Cheng Zhiwei didn’t restrain her hatred as she laughed out loud, her eyes turning red, "You two are indeed a perfect match, equally cruel and selfish. I should have brought you together earlier."

The commotion the two were causing was so great that Wang Mei had already run up. She was stunned by the scene in the room.

"Go start the car," Zhou Lin ordered coldly.

Wang Mei hurried downstairs to call the driver.

Cheng Zhiwei was dragged downstairs by Zhou Lin, and even though the front of her sweater was soaked red, he still clutched her wrist tightly, almost dragging her to the car.

But Cheng Zhiwei refused to get into the car, provokingly watching him, her eyes and brows filled with contempt.

Zhou Lin also refused to back down, and the two of them continued their standoff beside the car.

Wang Mei watched, her heart almost leaping out, "Young Master, please let go and go to the hospital first."

Zhou Lin, having lost a lot of blood, was already unsteady, but his hand was like a clamp, refusing to let go.

Cheng Zhiwei was uncompromising as well, just staring coldly at Zhou Lin. That look seemed to say that even if Zhou Lin were to die in front of her at that moment, she wouldn’t show any change in emotion.

Wang Mei had no choice but to try and persuade, "Miss Zhiwei, please have mercy and go with him."

"I’m not going," Cheng Zhiwei coldly and indifferently spat out the two words, devoid of the ingratiating naivety she had shown over the past few days.

Wang Mei was stunned for a moment, then muttered, "Young Madam, have you remembered everything?"

Cheng Zhiwei’s eyelashes trembled, "The injury was caused by me; I wanted his life. Wouldn’t it be good if he just died here?"

Utterly indifferent.

Wang Mei stomped her feet in frustration, "Both of you are adults, playing these childish games here, really..."

Yet she couldn’t persuade either of them, and could only fret.

Zhou Lin’s face was getting whiter and whiter. He leaned against the car door, his deep gaze fixed on Cheng Zhiwei, a careless smile on his thin lips, "Fine, when I’m dead, you’ll be free."

"Then just die," she retorted.

"Stop arguing, Young Master, Young Madam, can we please go to the hospital first?" Wang Mei attempted to pull Zhou Lin’s hand away, but when her palm touched Cheng Zhiwei’s skin, she realized her temperature was frighteningly high.

"Young Madam, do you have a fever?"

She suddenly understood why Zhou Lin was unwilling to let go; in Cheng Zhiwei’s current state, she wouldn’t take medication on her own if they didn’t go to the hospital.

Zhou Lin was determined to take Cheng Zhiwei to the hospital for her own good.

But Cheng Zhiwei seemed intent on wearing Zhou Lin down right there.

Wang Mei was about to call an ambulance when Lin Yu arrived.

Wang Mei quickly explained the situation, and as Lin Yu looked at these two stubborn people, she could hardly suppress her anger. She scolded Zhou Lin, "Let go at once and go to the hospital, I will take Zhiwei to the hospital."

Zhou Lin finally began to loosen his grip little by little. He had no choice as he had no strength left at all. His vision went black in waves, and when Lin Yu told him to let go, he did, then collapsed to the ground.

"Ah Lin," Lin Yu cried out in shock and immediately instructed the driver to rush him to the hospital.

She then grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s hand and dragged her into her own car. Cheng Zhiwei didn’t want to go and after scolding her and struggling with Wang Mei, she was forcibly pushed into the vehicle.

Zhou Lin was taken directly to the emergency room, while Cheng Zhiwei received familiar and efficient care at the hands of Zhang Yuanheng, who arranged for her to be admitted to a ward and given an antipyretic injection.

After such commotion, Cheng Zhiwei was so exhausted she felt like collapsing, lying on the bed, she sank into a series of bizarre dreams. When she awoke, she was drenched in sweat and her throat was terribly dry.

As she tried to sit up with the support of her hands, someone had already helped her up from behind and then propped a pillow behind her back.

Cheng Zhiwei weakly looked up into Lin Yu’s calm gaze.

Lin Yu gently placed a hand on her forehead with a soft voice, "The fever is gone."

Cheng Zhiwei was dazed for a moment before recognizing Lin Yu, "Auntie Lin?"

Lin Yu looked at her with scrutiny, saw a familiar emotion, and knew that she still retained her memories at the moment.

"Zhiwei, I’m sorry, while you were ill, I made a deal with Ah Lin behind your back. He agreed to release Zhiyin, but in exchange, you must stay by his side. I agreed to it."

"So, my sister was really released?" Cheng Zhiwei’s face showed a relieved expression, "Thank you."

"I’m glad you don’t blame me," Lin Yu said with guilt, "It’s my fault for not raising Ah Lin properly."

Cheng Zhiwei shook her head, "No, you’ve done very well."

"There’s something else I must tell you." Lin Yu tightly grasped her hand as if it took a great deal of determination, "About Ah Lin’s father’s illness, it’s not serious. Originally, they staged this whole scene to remove Zhou Jinzhong’s influence; our family owes you an apology."

Lin Yu had not spoken to Zhou Chenyuan for days over this matter. Of course, it would be best if Zhou Chenyuan could be cured, but they shouldn’t have kept it from her and even involved Zhiwei...

She was filled with guilt and, after a lot of thought, decided to tell Cheng Zhiwei the whole truth.

Cheng Zhiwei had the right to know the truth.

Cheng Zhiwei was silent for a long time, then withdrew her hand, her gaze dropping faintly, "It’s good that uncle is fine."

"He’s not fine, he indeed has cancer, but it’s in the early stage. He can live for a few more years," Lin Yu said with a bitter smile, "Zhiwei, I’m sorry."

"It’s okay," Cheng Zhiwei’s face paled as she turned her eyes away, "It’s really okay."

She curled up under the covers, hiding her head, and turned to her side, "I would like to rest now, could you please leave first?"

Other than guiltily apologizing, Lin Yu could do nothing else. What had happened could not be undone, and she only regretted not being more careful in the past, never allowing Zhou Lin and Zhou Chenyuan to do such a thing.

"Then rest well, I’ll come back to check on you later," Lin Yu sighed. She paused, then added, "Ah Lin is out of life-threatening danger now, Zhiwei, you stabbed him once, and although he was lucky to survive, can you consider the two matters even and let it go, please?"

"Sure," Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes.

Lin Yu then quietly left the room.

Cheng Zhiwei reopened her eyes, she hadn’t been crying, just staring blankly out the window. Winter was really cold, and despite being wrapped tightly in blankets, the chill still seemed to invade her bones, making her shiver.

She thought, she had stabbed Zhou Lin in the chest with scissors, by all reason it was attempted murder, and if the Zhou Family decided to pursue it, she would be in prison for life.

To consider it even, she had gotten an incredibly good deal. Should she still be grateful to them?

But, she too was a living, breathing person with emotions...
