Chapter 175: Zhou Lin, Do You Also Think I Pushed Her?

Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Zhou Lin, Do You Also Think I Pushed Her?

"Zhenzhen."

"I didn’t push her." Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fingers, her face pale as she struggled to remain calm, countering Seo Zhenzhen’s framing and entrapment.

She had never expected that Bai Zhuzhu would suddenly fall backward and roll onto the road.

Seo Zhenzhen had initially been crying, but upon hearing Cheng Zhiwei’s voice, she seemed to break down completely, her voice becoming shattered and hoarse, "I saw you push her, Cheng Zhiwei... I always thought you were a good person, so I encouraged Zhuzhu to find you and admit her wrongdoings. I thought you would be kind enough to forgive her, but I never imagined you were a devil who actually killed her."

"She did hurt you, but she truly intended to repent. It’s fine if you don’t forgive her, but why did you have to hurt her?" Seo Zhenzhen’s grief caused her to scream, and if Zhou Lin hadn’t been supporting her, she would have fallen out of her wheelchair in her agitation.

Cheng Zhiwei gazed steadily at Seo Zhenzhen and, in her grief-stricken expression, saw a trace of provocation.

Watching Seo Zhenzhen, who was still frantically accusing her, Cheng Zhiwei found it ridiculous, "Seo Zhenzhen, the car accident was your arrangement, wasn’t it?"

"Cheng Zhiwei, do you have no humanity?" Seo Zhenzhen trembled, tears covering her whole face, looking genuinely heartbroken, "She’s already dead, yet you still slander me like this. Do the deaths of both of us sisters make you happy?"

Cheng Zhiwei finally understood; Bai Zhuzhu was dead, and Seo Zhenzhen was pinning it on her, a blatant entrapment.

But that was her sister, how could she be so cold-blooded?

"I didn’t push her, how she was involved in the traffic accident, you know full well," Cheng Zhiwei said, her clear eyes devoid of warmth, filled only with scorn.

Seo Zhenzhen’s fingers trembled as if she wanted to curse Cheng Zhiwei, but suddenly she covered her chest and fainted.

Zhou Lin quickly picked her up and hurried out.

In the emergency room, only Cheng Zhiwei and the cold Bai Zhuzhu remained.

After standing for half an hour, Cheng Zhiwei finally moved, walking to the bedside and pulling back the white cloth to reveal Bai Zhuzhu’s still-open eyes.

She died with her eyes open.

"In your next life, don’t be Seo Zhenzhen’s sister anymore, and don’t fall for Zhou Lin; he isn’t worth it," Cheng Zhiwei said as she covered her again with the cloth, then turned and saw Zhou Lin at the doorway.

Against the light, she couldn’t make out Zhou Lin’s expression.

As Cheng Zhiwei walked to the door, Zhou Lin suddenly turned and looked over, his voice cool and low, "The police have arrived."

Cheng Zhiwei lowered her eyes and walked out without saying a word.

Zhou Lin, unable to bear it any longer, grabbed her to stop her, looking directly at her with a calm yet somewhat cold voice, "Don’t you regret anything? If you had stood up for her when she was being cyberbullied, she might not have died today."

Cheng Zhiwei’s already tense emotions nearly broke as she retorted, "Zhou Lin, don’t you know what she did to me initially? How could you even say that I should have stood up for her—and her death was Seo Zhenzhen’s doing, it has nothing to do with me."

"Cheng Zhiwei, enough," Zhou Lin sternly questioned her, that look almost the same as if he hadn’t directly called her nonsensical, "Bai Zhuzhu is dead, and you still want to push Zhenzhen to her death? Bai Zhuzhu was her sister; how could she deliberately kill her own sister?"

Cheng Zhiwei turned her head towards a dark corner, thinking how dark Seo Zhenzhen’s heart could be.

Designing everything step by step, even capable of harming her own sister to death

"If you believe her, I have nothing to say," Cheng Zhiwei said as she pulled away from his grasp and walked away.

Zhou Lin remained silent for a few seconds, then followed and stopped Cheng Zhiwei again, a frown marked with a trace of coldness, "Don’t say anything in front of the police; Secretary Zhang will handle it."

His words implied... he also believed that Bai Zhuzhu was pushed by her.

Cheng Zhiwei gave him a cold look and walked away without looking back.

Cheng Zhiwei was taken to the police station, followed by Secretary Zhang the whole time, and soon a lawyer arrived, claiming to be Cheng Zhiwei’s defense attorney.

Cheng Zhiwei knew that he was Zhou Lin’s man.

She silently listened as the lawyer and the police negotiated, her mind as clear as a mirror.

Zhou Lin had Secretary Zhang and the lawyer come here not out of consideration for her, but because the Zhou Family was facing turbulent times, and her issue added insult to injury; he needed to ensure Cheng Zhiwei was exonerated.

"However, judging from this video, Madam Cheng is under heavy suspicion," a police officer said, playing a clip.

In the video, Cheng Zhiwei and Bai Zhuzhu were scuffling, and just as Bai Zhuzhu fell backward, Cheng Zhiwei was reaching out her hand, making it look like she had pushed Bai Zhuzhu out.

"At that moment when she was falling back, I was trying to hold her," Cheng Zhiwei explained.

"But the victim’s sister was present at the scene and insists she saw you push the victim into the road," the officer continued. "We interviewed eyewitnesses and found that the victim had knelt down to you before..."

"Moreover, the driver mentioned that he indeed saw someone suddenly fall in front of the car, and he couldn’t stop in time."

The police questioning started with minor details and repeated over and over, causing Cheng Zhiwei’s head to hurt more and more, and her complexion grew even paler, appearing extremely weak.

Unable to tell how much time had passed, Cheng Zhiwei only knew the harsh fluorescent light was hurting her eyes, blinking felt like tears would flow, when finally Secretary Zhang’s voice slowly came through, "Young Madam, you can go home now."

She nodded, her palm supporting her as she got up from the table, but somehow lacking the strength, she fell back down heavily.

"Young Madam," Secretary Zhang exclaimed, startled, reaching out to help.

Yet another pair of hands were quicker, lifting Cheng Zhiwei up.

Secretary Zhang frowned, "Doctor Meng."

Meng Qiancheng rubbed Cheng Zhiwei’s hair, his tone both pained and helpless as he scolded, "Are you foolish? Not calling me when such a big incident occurred?"

Cheng Zhiwei’s dizziness subsided a bit, she stood steadily, tried to speak, but her throat was too hoarse to make a sound.

Meng Qiancheng held one of her hands, "I’ll take you out."

Cheng Zhiwei numbly nodded, "Okay."

Secretary Zhang could only reluctantly intercept, "Young Madam, Young President Zhou is still waiting for you."

Meng Qiancheng pushed Secretary Zhang aside with a cold laugh, "Tell Zhou Lin that Weiwei could never do such a thing."

Cheng Zhiwei felt a pang in her heart, realizing that some people still believed in her.

Stepping outside the police station, the sky had already darkened completely, and the streetlights cast a dim, bleak light on the cold autumn wind.

The chill of the autumn wind seeped into the bones.

Zhou Lin stood at the entrance, his gaze falling on Cheng Zhiwei’s face, then shifting to Meng Qiancheng, dark shadows fluctuating in his moody eyes.

"Cheng Zhiwei, let’s go home," he said.

Cheng Zhiwei walked up to Zhou Lin, looked up at him quietly, her tone flat, "Do you also think that I pushed Bai Zhuzhu?"

The dim light in his eyes concealed all emotion, Zhou Lin’s lips pressed into a thin line, and he said nothing.

That was an implicit affirmation.

Cheng Zhiwei let out a sarcastic laugh, Seo Zhenzhen was bold enough to speak the whole truth because she was convinced that even if Zhou Lin knew, he wouldn’t believe it.

Just like now, he believed she had pushed Bai Zhuzhu, leading to Bai Zhuzhu’s death in a car accident.

"Let’s talk at home," Zhou Lin said slowly, reaching out to take Cheng Zhiwei’s hand.

The hand clasped in his palm was incredibly cold, Zhou Lin tightened his grip bit by bit.
