Chapter 165: Chapter 165: What’s wrong with your eyes, fancying such trash?
He Ye ungraciously stopped him, "Mr. Chen, I’ve already called the police."
"Called the police? That’s hilarious." Mr. Chen didn’t care, and even sneered, "You must be new to society, kid. Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson."
He gestured with his hand, and immediately a bodyguard came forward to lay hands on He Ye.
Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t stand it anymore, stepped forward proactively, and said coolly, "Stop."
"Have you thought it through?" Mr. Chen’s eyebrows lifted in pleasure.
Cheng Zhiwei moved slightly, straightened herself, "Mr. Chen, isn’t it? I’m not just some little girl. Look carefully, my last name is Cheng, I’m Zhou Lin’s wife."
She boldly revealed her identity, no longer having the concern she had before. Previously, she thought that after the divorce there would be no more involvement, and wondered why she should continue to bear such an identity, thus always preferring to keep her relationship with Zhou Lin hidden from outsiders.
But now she had come to a realization, her identity as Young Madam Zhou was not something to abandon freely. It was only a matter of months, so why should she suffer any humiliation?
Onlookers around her all widened their eyes, surprised as they sized up Cheng Zhiwei.
Mr. Chen, however, didn’t believe it. He belched, saying drunkenly, "Zhou Lin’s wife? You? The Zhou Family is the leading wealthy family in Yucheng, and Young President Zhou is a dragon among men. How could he fancy someone like you?"
Someone whispered a few words into Mr. Chen’s ear.
Mr. Chen suddenly seemed to understand and scrutinized Cheng Zhiwei more carefully, touching his chin with a licentious smile, "It seems Young President Zhou wouldn’t like a vicious woman like you. By helping him out, he should thank me."
With that, he made another move to grab Cheng Zhiwei.
However, before his hand could touch Cheng Zhiwei, it was grabbed and forcefully twisted, eliciting a blood-curdling scream from him as his face rapidly turned pale.
Zhou Lin broke Mr. Chen’s arm, then viciously kicked him, his thin lips curving into a scornful arc, "I should thank you? Who do you think you are, touching my people?"
Mr. Chen, who had been so arrogant just moments ago, now laid on the ground kicked down by Zhou Lin, not daring to utter a sound. He got up from the ground, groveling in apology, "Young President Zhou, I was blind and failed to recognize a great person, offended Young Madam, my fault, my fault."
With that, his palm fell heavily on his own face, slapping several times, reddening his cheek.
Cheng Zhiwei watched coldly, "Haven’t you released the person yet?"
"Yes, yes, right away." He promptly agreed, his earlier drunkenness nowhere to be seen. It seemed he had only been using the pretense of being drunk to bully a woman.
Meng Qiancheng was let go, he moved his shoulders and gave Zhou Lin a cold look before walking to the side.
"Get lost," Zhou Lin said with disgust.
Mr. Chen hurriedly took his men and left.
Zhou Lin’s cold gaze swept over Meng Qiancheng and finally landed on Cheng Zhiwei, still with a chill, "You go out without bringing more people with you? If it hadn’t been for Zhang Chao mentioning it to me, and since I happened to be here for dinner, were you planning to rely on those two for protection?"
Zhang Chao was Secretary Zhang, the one discussing investments with He Ye. No wonder he had asked He Ye why he had brought a female companion, as he had recognized Cheng Zhiwei.
Cheng Zhiwei tugged at her lips, murmured a thank you.
Zhou Lin glanced at Meng Qiancheng again, his tone sarcastic and taunting, "Especially certain people, they talk nicely, but when real trouble comes, they can only bow and scrape for mercy. I don’t know how you see things, fancying such a loser."
Meng Qiancheng’s face turned sour, Zhou Lin was taunting him.
Saying he was a loser, only capable of kowtowing to others.
Yet Zhou Lin, leveraged his venerable birth in the Zhou Family. If he had grown up in an orphanage like himself, he might have turned out even worse.
Cheng Zhiwei didn’t like Zhou Lin, and she didn’t care for his lofty attitude. She cut to the chase, "I have other matters to attend to, I’m leaving first."
Zhou Lin frowned, clearly impatient, "Let’s go back together."
"I have other matters to attend to," Cheng Zhiwei said impatiently, tossing out the words.
Zhou Lin sneered, "Cheng Zhiwei, shouldn’t you clarify to your two friends that you are a married woman who should not be staying out all night?"
Cheng Zhiwei’s temper flared instantly, "Don’t assume everyone is as disgusting as you are."
Zhou Lin snorted coldly and looked toward He Ye beside her. Unlike his disdain for Meng Qiancheng, he was a bit more patient this time, "He Ye?"
He Ye nodded indifferently, "Young President Zhou."
Zhou Lin gestured for Secretary Zhang to come over and ordered in a calm voice, "Draft an investment agreement according to Mr. He’s terms."
Everyone was taken aback. Secretary Zhang, reacting quickly and stealing a glance at Cheng Zhiwei, asked, "Are you going to invest in Mr. He’s studio?"
"Hmm," Zhou Lin said, looking down at Cheng Zhiwei with a hint of helplessness that came from a place of disappointment, yet he addressed He Ye, "Do well with your studio, and don’t bring her out to seek investments."
The implication was that he was willing to generously finance Cheng Zhiwei.
He simply decided to crudely invest in He Ye’s studio.
He Ye did not immediately agree; he waited for Cheng Zhiwei’s opinion.
Meng Qiancheng, feeling bitterly stifled, couldn’t help but mock, "Young President Zhou is truly generous with his investments."
Zhou Lin raised his eyebrows, his look one of amusement as he watched him, "What can I do, I’m rich."
Meng Qiancheng’s face turned from red to pale, then from pale to green—overall, it was exceptionally gloomy and unattractive.
He Ye took a long time to think and intended to reject Zhou Lin’s investment, not wanting to make things difficult for Cheng Zhiwei.
But Cheng Zhiwei stopped him, instead speaking coolly, "Senior, since Young President Zhou wants to invest in you, then go ahead and discuss the terms properly with Secretary Zhang."
Zhou Lin was a businessman; if He Ye’s studio were worthless, he wouldn’t be pouring money into it for nothing. After all, the fact that He Ye’s studio could collaborate with the esteemed Director Wen Ya was proof enough of its strength.
An investment from Zhou Lin would be better than the previous one from Director Zhang.
His money was not to be turned down.
Seeing that Cheng Zhiwei was unfazed, He Ye nodded in agreement and went off with Secretary Zhang to discuss the details.
Cheng Zhiwei spoke matter-of-factly and added a word of thanks.
Zhou Lin casually curled his lips, "I really wouldn’t want people to ridicule me, saying that Zhou Lin’s wife had to personally seek investments. I can’t afford to lose that face."
Cheng Zhiwei rolled her eyes inwardly; he was obviously investing for profit, yet now it seemed as if he was doing it for her, forcing her to owe him a favor.
Without a word from her, Zhou Lin’s expression turned colder as he spoke expressionlessly, "I’m leaving the driver for you, get back early."
Having said that, he walked straight away.
Once Zhou Lin left, Meng Qiancheng looked upset and asked eagerly, "Aren’t you two getting a divorce? What’s happening? Have you moved back in?"
Cheng Zhiwei could not explain the reasons to him and vaguely responded, "We’ve decided not to divorce for the time being."
Meng Qiancheng’s temper exploded like a balloon stretched to its limit, "Not getting a divorce?"
Cheng Zhiwei’s ears hurt from his loud voice. She wore a hearing aid in her left ear, which was hidden by her hair and had not yet been noticed; at this moment, Meng Qiancheng was on her left, his voice suddenly too loud for her to bear.
After easing the buzzing in her ears, she replied, "Yes, we’re not divorcing for now."
