Chapter 157: Let’s Not Get Divorced Yet

Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Let’s Not Get Divorced Yet

Zhou Lin didn’t know how to describe his current emotions, but he felt uncomfortable. However, thinking of the wrongs she had suffered, that discomfort faded away.

As he took the elevator down, Zhou Lin encountered Lin Yu at the entrance, followed by the locally renowned Lawyer Seo.

Seeing Zhou Lin, Lin Yu coldly announced, "Be prepared, I’ve enlisted Lawyer Seo to handle Zhiwei’s divorce case."

Lawyer Seo nodded slightly, greeting with courtesy, "Young President Zhou, hello."

Zhou Lin’s headache started; his mother really was a woman of action.

"Also, I want to ask you, did you know about Zhiwei’s pregnancy at the beginning?" Lin Yu asked.

Zhou Lin was silent for a few seconds, then said, "I only found out not long ago."

Lin Yu angrily cursed, "Your dad was a lover, how could he have fathered someone as heartless and ungrateful as you?"

Having scolded her son, Lin Yu prepared to enter the elevator with Lawyer Seo.

"Mom." Zhou Lin looked up at Lin Yu, "Please bring Cheng Zhiwei out, she wants a divorce, we’ll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau now."

Lin Yu was stunned for a moment, then said irritably, "Wait."

Cheng Zhiwei once again stood at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, looking up at Zhou Lin who had arrived ahead of her, her gaze slowly changing and finally settling into calmness.

She stepped inside, and Zhou Lin extinguished his cigarette butt on the ground and followed her in.

Both of them were now sufficiently calm and composed.

But just then, Zhou Lin’s phone rang.

He stood at the entrance, just one step away from entering.

On the phone, Secretary Zhang’s usually steady voice was as urgent as if the sky were falling, "Young President Zhou, you need to come to the hospital."

"I have something important right now."

"The Chairman went for a physical examination, and they found cancer."

A bolt from the blue!

Even the ever-steady Zhou Lin felt a moment of darkness before his eyes as he grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s wrist, who was just in front of him, holding it tightly, his expression turning frighteningly grim.

"Cheng Zhiwei, this marriage, we’re not divorcing for now."

As the group rushed to the hospital, Lin Yu had already cried herself into a mess.

But by the time they got out of the car, her tears were all hidden in her eyes, and apart from the redness around her eyes, she appeared normal.

Journalists, who had been waiting, rushed up frantically, blocked by bodyguards on the outside. Though the people were held back, their voices were unusually loud, as if they wanted the whole world to know that Zhou Chenyuan had cancer and was near death.

"It’s said that Chairman Zhou has been diagnosed with cancer, and it’s already in the late stage, is that true?"

"Madam Zhou, is the Zhou Group planning to formally hand over to President Zhou? Is he up to the task?"

"Madam Zhou, please, say a word."

"..."

Innumerable questions bombarded them, some even viciously asking how many months Zhou Chenyuan had left to live.

Cheng Zhiwei looked worriedly at Lin Yu, but saw only strength and courage on her face.

She stood at the hospital entrance, turned around to face all the journalists, and said clearly, "I’m sorry, everyone, whether or not my husband really has cancer, we need to wait for the hospital to confirm. So please leave this area, and we will inform you as soon as there’s any news."

With that said, Lin Yu turned and walked away.

The journalists were all held at bay by the bodyguards.

Cheng Zhiwei closely followed Lin Yu, worried she might suddenly not be able to cope, only hearing Zhou Lin’s cold voice from behind asking, "How did the journalists find out about this?"

Secretary Zhang quickly explained, "Miss Zhou Hui just opened a new medical center and insisted the Chairman go. The Chairman went symbolically and had a few tests done."

It was clear that Zhou Hui had told someone else the test results, and that’s how the news had leaked.

Zhou Lin narrowed his eyes, his voice low and slow, hiding endless anger, "A medical center that can’t even protect the privacy of its guests has no reason to exist."

"Yes, I understand what to do." Secretary Zhang took a step back and went out to make a phone call.

The group had already taken the elevator to the hospital room.

Zhou Chenyuan was putting on his coat when Lin Yu suddenly threw herself into his arms, sobbing, "Husband."

Zhou Chenyuan’s stern expression immediately softened as he wrapped her in his arms, "You came like this?"

The grand trail of people who had followed saw this scene and all retreated.

Cheng Zhiwei and Guo Cuihua sat on chairs outside while Zhou Lin closed the hospital room’s door, the atmosphere becoming somber and oppressive.

The silence was heartbreaking.

Zhou Lin took out a cigarette, probably intending to smoke to alleviate his mood, but his eyes fell on Cheng Zhiwei and he refrained, just turning it over in his fingers.

Guo Cuihua sighed internally, taking the initiative to comfort him, "Zhou Lin, don’t worry. Once the doctor has done a detailed examination, we’ll know what’s going on. It might be a mistake."

Zhou Lin responded with a hum, looking up at Cheng Zhiwei and slightly moving his lips to finally say an apology, "Sorry, I’ve delayed you again."

With such an incident, Cheng Zhiwei was saddened too, unable to say that she definitely needed to get a divorce certificate today, and could only comfort him, "It will be alright."

Zhou Lin pressed his lips together and chuckled bitterly, "Yeah."

Half an hour later, Zhang Yuanheng came with a stack of papers. Just as he was about to speak, Zhou Lin preempted him, "Cheng Zhiwei, can you stay here with my mom? I’ll be right back."

"Yes, go ahead." Cheng Zhiwei quickly agreed.

Just as Zhou Lin left, the hospital room door opened and Lin Yu came out. Her eyes redder, her face visibly wan, she looked around, not seeing Zhou Lin, and asked, "Where is Ah Lin?"

Cheng Zhiwei hurriedly stood up and walked over, "He went to Zhang Yuanheng’s office."

"I’m going too." Lin Yu gritted her teeth, wanting to know just how serious Zhou Chenyuan was ill—as his wife, she had the right to know.

"I’ll accompany you."

Cheng Zhiwei helped Lin Yu out, with Guo Cuihua on her other side, comforting her, "You and your husband have been through so much, and finally reached a moment of relief. Everything will be alright."

Tears streamed down Lin Yu’s face.

She hoped... that fate would not be so cruel.

Outside the office, they heard Zhang Yuanheng speaking, "At most six months, at least three. You better be mentally prepared."

An unbearable declaration.

Zhou Lin’s voice was full of bitterness and sorrow, "I understand, but for now, don’t tell my mom."

"Madam will find out sooner or later."

"We’ll see."

The sound had just ended when a "bang" came from outside.

As Zhou Lin’s face changed, he hurried out only to see Lin Yu weakly leaning against the wall, clutching her chest, silently crying.

The grief was so overwhelming that she couldn’t even make a sound.

"Mom." Zhou Lin helped Lin Yu up, holding her tightly in his arms as he comforted her in a deep voice, "It’s okay, I’m here. I’ll find the best doctors to treat dad. You need to be strong and stay by dad’s side."

Lin Yu, biting his clothes, finally cried aloud.

Cheng Zhiwei turned her back, wiping the tears hanging in her eyes. Zhou Chenyuan and Lin Yu had always been the couple she secretly admired countless times in her heart, their marriage was something she had often envied.

Oh God, it’s too cruel.
