Chapter 151: She’s becoming more and more extreme

Chapter 151: Chapter 151: She’s becoming more and more extreme

Seo Zhenzhen’s eyes turned red with some agitation, "Ah Lin, we used to be really good friends too, why must things turn out this way?"

Her words were filled with a heartbreaking sentiment.

Apart from feeling disgusted, Cheng Zhiwei still felt disgusted. Clearly, she hated Seo Zhenzhen immensely, yet Seo Zhenzhen had to put on this act, making it seem as if she, Zhenzhen, was very magnanimous and Zhiwei was the petty one.

Her tactics were indeed much more sophisticated compared to Bai Zhuzhu’s.

"Zhiwei, I really miss the times when we were studying, when we were the best of friends," she said, as tears started streaming down from the corner of her eyes.

"Could you please not disgust me, you stole the person I liked, deliberately flaunted your affection in front of me, Seo Zhenzhen, are you the cheapest person in this world?" Cheng Zhiwei’s emotions violently surged as insults spilled out without restraint.

Seo Zhenzhen seemed shocked, frozen in her wheelchair while tears fell freely, "Zhiwei, do you really hate me that much? Back then I knew you liked Ah Lin, but I thought of bringing you along to meet some new friends, maybe you would find the love of your life, so you wouldn’t be so heartbroken. You’ve really misunderstood me."

"Knowing you is the most disgusting thing in my life," Cheng Zhiwei retorted as she suddenly grabbed Seo Zhenzhen’s wheelchair.

"Cheng Zhiwei, what are you doing?" Zhou Lin’s anxious voice rang out. He had already gotten down from the hospital bed, his dark eyes instantly filled with a cold ruthlessness, void of warmth.

Cheng Zhiwei just dragged Seo Zhenzhen’s wheelchair to the side, intending to leave that place.

She didn’t exert much force, but Seo Zhenzhen’s wheelchair tipped over when it was pushed, causing Seo Zhenzhen to scream in pain, her face turning pale.

As Cheng Zhiwei opened the door of the ward, she looked back and saw Zhou Lin had already picked Seo Zhenzhen up with one arm, his piercing gaze directed towards her, "Cheng Zhiwei, you’ve gone too far. This whole affair started because of Zhenzhen, but she was unaware of it. She even brought you ointment. If you don’t want it, just leave it be. Why do you have to hurt her like this?"

The stern and icy question was like a knife thrusting into Cheng Zhiwei’s heart.

Even though she told herself not to be affected anymore, her heart couldn’t help but ache uncontrollably. That blatant partiality was infuriating.

She clenched the doorknob tightly, her eyes devoid of any warmth as she stared at Zhou Lin, "I said earlier that I wanted to leave, she was the one blocking my way. What, are you blind and can’t see?"

"Cheng Zhiwei." Zhou Lin’s complexion darkened.

It was obviously she who’d knocked Zhenzhen over, yet she was still talking back so sharply.

"I’m the victim here," Cheng Zhiwei took a deep breath, opened the door slightly, and turned her head, "And I, will never forgive those who have hurt me and been violent towards me."

She left without looking back.

Just as she reached the corridor, the soft voice of Seo Zhenzhen came from behind, "Ah Lin, you and Zhiwei... you guys..."

She halted, apparently without that pitiful sobbing, as Cheng Zhiwei instinctively stopped her steps.

Zhou Lin’s indifferent voice reached her, "Are you still comfortable living at home?"

"It’s pretty good."

Cheng Zhiwei was about to walk away when Seo Zhenzhen’s voice reached her again, "That day Zhiwei claimed I had schemed for you and her to spend the night at the hotel, and now she’s saying this, blaming everything on me... Ah Lin. I don’t know why she suddenly started saying such things, but you know what kind of person I am, I..."

Zhou Lin said, "I know, you’re not in the wrong, it’s her who’s becoming more and more extreme."

A scornful smile emerged on Cheng Zhiwei’s face. Extreme?

If this was considered being extreme, then what were the things that He Lanzhi and Seo Zhenzhen had done to her?

She should have known better than to come.

She thought Zhou Lin had actively saved her because there were still some feelings left. Now it seems, it was all her own illusion.

Ha.

She didn’t stay any longer and left without hesitation.

Returning home, despite her emotional restraint, she couldn’t hide the traces of distress on her face.

Cheng Zhiyin pulled her aside and asked, "Did you argue with Zhou Lin?"

"No," Cheng Zhiwei took a sip of water, "You know my foot hasn’t healed yet. I made a trip to the hospital, and my foot hurts."

Cheng Zhiyin knew something unpleasant must have happened, but since Cheng Zhiwei chose not to divulge details, she didn’t press further, simply saying, "Zhou Lin saved you, and you’ve already visited him. The gratitude has been conveyed. From now on, just stay at home and recover."

Cheng Zhiwei bowed her head, forcing back the moisture in her eyes, and smiled, "Okay."

"Your mother and I are going back home to fetch some things this afternoon. You rest well, and if you get bored, you can watch TV," Cheng Zhiyin instructed.

"Got it. Oh, and sister, if you’re going out with mom, remember to buy me a new phone. My old one’s broken," Cheng Zhiwei said.

"Alright."

Cheng Zhiwei slept for the entire afternoon and felt much better when she woke up.

Not long after, Cheng Zhiyin and Guo Cuihua returned, Guo Cuihua bringing plenty of things with her. It looked like she was here to stay for a while.

Cheng Zhiyin handed a box to Cheng Zhiwei, "Your secret, I’ve brought it to you."

Clutching the box, Cheng Zhiwei pursed her lips and murmured thanks before returning to her room.

Upon opening the box, there were the religious texts that Cheng Zhiwei had once begged Zhou Lin for, with several of his photos tucked inside.

As her fingers gently brushed over them, her heart felt a severe, stinging pain. This was the affection of her youth.

Even the memories were so hurtful.

She took out the scriptures one by one, thinking that once she got better and her face was fit to be seen in public, she would return them.

Those things no longer served any purpose to her; it was better to give them to someone else who was destined for them.

Cheng Zhiwei briefly flipped through the texts and then paused, stunned. The photos were still there, but the diary she’d placed inside was gone.

After a thorough search, the diary was indeed missing.

Sitting in her chair, clutching the box, Cheng Zhiwei’s heart ached with sadness.

That notebook recorded her minutest feelings for Zhou Lin from her younger days: what he liked to eat, do, his interests, and daily activities—all meticulously noted.

Was this the universe’s way of telling her that their relationship was truly over, leaving not even a single token of remembrance?

"Zhiwei, why are you daydreaming again?" Cheng Zhiyin entered, asking gently.

Cheng Zhiwei snapped back to reality, placing the scriptures back into the box, "Just these things, reminding me of the past."

As for the diary, so be it if it was gone.

After all, she no longer harbored feelings for Zhou Lin. Such an object, if kept, would likely end up burned or thrown away in the end.

Forget it.

"Are you still unable to let go?" Cheng Zhiyin asked, understanding that kind of feeling. However, now that Gao Wei was in prison, she had her revenge.

But Cheng Zhiwei was different.

"There’s nothing to let go of," Cheng Zhiwei said with a smile, closing the box and changing the topic, "What about the phone, did you get it?"

"Got it, and the SIM card is topped up," Cheng Zhiyin handed the new phone to Cheng Zhiwei, hugging her tenderly, "Zhiwei, we all need to look forward."
