Chapter 142: Is His Wife’s Position a Golden Throne?

Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Is His Wife’s Position a Golden Throne?

"Seo Zhenzhen, stop right there." Guo Cuihua stepped out of the hospital room, her expression severe, "Clarify your words—how did Zhiwei slander you?"

Seo Zhenzhen bit her lip, her eyes brimming with tears, "Auntie..."

Guo Cuihua’s tone was harsh, "I don’t know what you said to Cheng Shang that made him throw a temper tantrum while both my daughters lie injured in bed. I don’t want to pursue it, but I do hope you’ll try to stay away from my family from now on."

The atmosphere plummeted to freezing point.

Cheng Shang expressed his dissatisfaction with Guo Cuihua’s words: "What do you mean by that? If Cheng Zhiwei has done something wrong, she’s in the wrong. Why are you blaming Zhenzhen?"

Guo Cuihua took a deep breath; she had always been gentle, and had been accommodating Cheng Shang’s temper throughout their many years of marriage.

This was the first time she stood up to Cheng Shang with a cold eye.

"I don’t know about right or wrong. All I know is that my two daughters were almost beaten to death because of her."

"That’s because Cheng Zhiwei..."

Guo Cuihua completely ignored Cheng Shang and only looked at Seo Zhenzhen, "Don’t come near our family again. I dislike people who sow discord in front of my family."

"Auntie." Seo Zhenzhen was extremely aggrieved, "I didn’t sow discord. You know me. I’ve always considered you my mother, I..."

"Please leave this place." Guo Cuihua’s face took on an ugly expression.

"Cuihua, what are you doing?"

"Say one more word, and you’ll be leaving with her. And if you dare to bring her home, we’re getting a divorce," Guo Cuihua said viciously, even uttering the word ’divorce’.

Cheng Shang’s expression turned completely dark, "You... you actually dare to say such a thing."

His gentle and virtuous wife, how could she say such things.

It was all Cheng Zhiwei’s influence.

He looked at Cheng Zhiwei with an even colder gaze: "Cheng Zhiwei, if you aren’t willing to admit your mistakes, then I am formally notifying you now, that from this day forth, you will have nothing to do with the Cheng Family."

Cheng Zhiwei turned sharply, her gaze piercingly cold as she looked directly at Cheng Shang, "So what you’re saying is, you’re ready to cut ties with me?"

"You know it’s true. Cheng Zhiwei, time and again you cause trouble, even spawning such photographs, causing your sister to miscarry, her marriage to fall apart, and still, you refuse to repent," Cheng Shang roared angrily.

Cheng Zhiwei’s heart clenched with suppressed rage, her voice icy, "Then let’s sever ties. After all, having a father like you is no different from not having one at all. ’Aunt Wang, let’s go.’"

Guo Cuihua burst into tears with frustration, "All of you shut up."

"Cheng Zhiwei, don’t say things in anger," Zhou Lin interjected in a disapproving whisper, "Dad is just worried about you."

Seo Zhenzhen chimed in from behind to support his statement, "Yes, Zhiwei, Uncle is just concerned about you. Saying such things now really hurts his feelings."

Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes briefly, barely able to contain her fury.

She looked at Zhou Lin with biting sarcasm, her voice neither loud nor soft, but just enough for everyone present to hear, "Zhou Lin, Seo Zhenzhen told me that she set us up at the hotel three years ago. What do you have to say about that?"

Seo Zhenzhen had claimed Zhou Lin wouldn’t reply, certain that Cheng Zhiwei knew just as well that Zhou Lin wouldn’t believe her, and she wouldn’t embarrass herself.

But why wouldn’t Cheng Zhiwei speak up? Whether Zhou Lin believed her was one thing, choosing to speak up was another matter entirely.

Seo Zhenzhen’s face paled, her lips trembling as she raised an incredulous voice, "Zhiwei, you’re talking about what happened three years ago, you... you think it was me who set you up?"

Guo Cuihua gripped Cheng Zhiwei’s hand tightly, inquiring with her eyes.

Cheng Zhiwei nodded.

Guo Cuihua’s expression immediately turned deeply sorrowful; she believed Cheng Zhiwei.

But aside from her, others did not.

Disappointment and disgust surfaced on Cheng Shang’s face, "Cheng Zhiwei, even now you’re still framing Zhenzhen over something from three years ago. Have you ever thought about the fact that she and Ah Lin are boyfriend and girlfriend, why would she scheme against her own boyfriend?"

The question was completely logical and a normal reaction.

But Cheng Zhiwei wasn’t waiting for Cheng Shang’s answer, but Zhou Lin’s.

Zhou Lin’s face looked rather unpleasant as he narrowed his eyes at Cheng Zhiwei, "You should go rest, Cheng Zhiwei."

With that one sentence, his stance was made crystal clear.

Cheng Zhiwei looked down at her own palms and left without any hesitation this time.

Guo Cuihua glared fiercely at Cheng Shang and followed her out.

Back in the ward, Cheng Zhiwei looked at the gentle sunlight outside the window and a bitter smile appeared on her lips.

Guo Cuihua rushed in and asked, "Zhiwei, what did you mean by what you said just now? Was it Zhenzhen who schemed against you three years ago when you and Zhou Lin got together?"

With Wang Mei’s help, Cheng Zhiwei sat on the bed and replied in a helpless low voice, "Yes, she told me herself, she was jealous of me for having a perfect family, having parents and an elder sister, so she envied me and wanted to ruin me."

Cheng Zhiwei really thought this reason was ridiculous; after all, it wasn’t her fault that Zhenzhen became an orphan, and the Cheng Family had provided Zhenzhen with meticulous care. Yet in Zhenzhen’s eyes, all this care didn’t elicit the slightest bit of gratitude but was filled with envy instead.

It was outrageous.

Guo Cuihua sat down on a chair, her eyes reddening, "She actually thought that way."

It left her feeling very cold.

Cheng Zhiwei sighed slowly, "Don’t be angry, after all, that kind of person is capable of anything."

How could Guo Cuihua not be heartbroken? She had sincerely treated Zhenzhen like her third daughter. Whatever Cheng Zhiwei had, Zhenzhen also definitely got, never biased.

Yet she had stirred up her family over such a reason, which was just excessive and detestable.

"You go see your sister first. If possible, don’t let Dad come to the hospital," said Cheng Zhiwei, who truly didn’t acknowledge this man as her father.

Yet genetically, he was precisely that.

Guo Cuihua became angry at the mention of this matter and stood up abruptly, "I need to talk to your dad and see what kind of love potion Zhenzhen has given him, to see if he values Zhenzhen over his own family."

She hadn’t taken in a word of what Cheng Zhiwei had just said.

Guo Cuihua left in a huff.

Just as Cheng Zhiwei was about to lie down, Zhou Lin entered. His gaze fell on her pale cheeks and he said quietly, "If you don’t want a divorce, I can still keep the promise I made before and respect you as my wife."

Cheng Zhiwei looked up at him, a mocking sneer emerging in her eyes, "Do you think it’s because I don’t want a divorce that I told you about Zhenzhen scheming against me three years ago?"

Was the position of his wife some golden throne that she yearned to return to?

Zhou Lin didn’t like the yin-yang tone of Cheng Zhiwei, his eyebrows furrowing tightly, "Dad is right. She is my girlfriend, and if our relationship goes well we might even get married. Why would she scheme against both of us, even causing a car accident that injured her leg?"

No one would be that foolish.
