Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Bullying Your Wife Means Disrespecting You

"If that mouth of yours is useless, donate it to someone who can use it," Xu Tian was equally furious as she pointed at He Lanzhi and cursed, "Everyone, come and see, this bar owner is really something. When a patron gets harassed here, he actually defends the harasser, even blames the woman for how she’s dressed. Why don’t you put up a ’No Women Allowed’ sign at the door?"

He Lanzhi’s piercing gaze instantly fell upon Xu Tian, and he ground his teeth, "Quit your alarmist talk right here."

Seeing He Lanzhi look somewhat anxious, Xu Tian knew that he cared about this matter and immediately spared no effort to shout loudly, "Everyone here, aside from you two who are obviously blind, can see quite clearly, especially you sisters in tank tops and shorts, you should be careful. Don’t get bullied here and then dismissed by the owner with a flippant ’misunderstanding.’ You’ll have nowhere to cry when it happens."

"Xu Tian, shut your mouth," He Lanzhi glared at Xu Tian darkly, foreseeing that the bar’s business would suffer after today.

Although he didn’t care about whether a bar made money or not, he was still upset about it.

Xu Tian wanted to say more, but Cheng Zhiwei pulled her back and looked at Zhou Lin expressionlessly, "Let’s wait for the police to handle this."

He Lanzhi resumed his light and breezy smile but deliberately let out a sneer in his speech, "Ah Lin is here. Even if Miss Cheng does call the police, the most that will happen is mediation. What could I possibly lose?"

He was certain that Zhou Lin would take his side.

Because everyone knew that Zhou Lin detested Cheng Zhiwei.

Seo Mao puffed himself up with support and became even more sarcastic, "Miss Cheng, I’ve already apologized to you. What more do you want? Besides, you’ve come here dressed like this, why keep up pretenses? Making more friends is a good thing, right?"

"You..." Xu Tian was so angry her fists clenched, and she wanted to hit someone.

Cheng Zhiwei pulled her back again and said coolly and clearly, "I have the right to call the police. And as for how the police handle it, that’s their business. Since none of you are afraid, then just wait for the police to arrive."

Throughout all of this, she never glanced at Zhou Lin again.

This person could stand by Bai Zhuzhu’s side, could back He Lanzhi up, but would never be the support that Cheng Zhiwei could rely on.

So she might as well act as if he didn’t exist.

The pain of disappointment had been felt so many times that it had become numb, even disappointment had turned into a habit.

The police arrived quickly, and then they all went to the police station.

The Police Chief was an old classmate of Lin Yu. On seeing that the person who called the police was Cheng Zhiwei, the chief immediately phoned Lin Yu. In his mind, it was just a petty squabble between a couple, no need for a formal investigation. A word of caution from the elders should suffice.

Lin Yu arrived swiftly and was taken aback by Cheng Zhiwei’s attire.

Zhou Lin noticed this and smiled coldly. In front of his mother, Cheng Zhiwei was always obedient and appropriately dressed, feigning decorum which won her his mother’s favor.

"Dressed like this in a bar, will overturn his mother’s perception, and she won’t be so fond of Cheng Zhiwei anymore," he thought.

With this in mind, Zhou Lin felt rather pleased.

Lin Yu suppressed the strangeness in her heart and after speaking a few words with the Chief on the side and making a phone call, she then approached.

At that moment, the driver came in and handed a bag to Lin Yu, "Madam."

Lin Yu took out a shawl from the bag and draped it over Cheng Zhiwei, saying gently, "It’s late, don’t catch cold. Are you hurt anywhere?"

Cheng Zhiwei wrapped the shawl tightly around herself and said softly, "Thank you, Mom. I’m fine."

She shared Zhou Lin’s sentiments and thought that Lin Yu would probably have some objections to her now.

Lin Yu’s gentle and soft concern made her appear staggered in response.

Lin Yu chuckled and handed another shawl to Xu Tian.

Xu Tian was pleasantly surprised. She knew Lin Yu was a good person, so she graciously thanked her and playfully said, "Though our Zhiwei married the wrong man, she is fortunate to have such a beautiful and kind-hearted mother-in-law."

Lin Yu smiled, her eyebrows betraying no hint of displeasure, "Miss Xu, just like your name, you’ve sweetened my heart."

The scene was unimaginably harmonious.

Zhou Lin felt a chill in his heart. Even seeing Cheng Zhiwei like this, how could his mother not be the slightest bit angry?

Cheng Zhiwei’s antics at the bar had damaged the Zhou Family’s image.

That was something a responsible Young Madam Zhou would not have done.

He Lanzhi was also puzzled and whispered, "Cheng Zhiwei must be your mother’s biological daughter, right?"

Still defending her after all this.

After pacifying Cheng Zhiwei, Lin Yu finally turned her full attention to Zhou Lin. Her gaze was icy cold, a stark contrast to the warmth she showed towards Cheng Zhiwei—at Zhou Lin, she only had a disdainful look, even bordering on frosty.

The chief waited for her to come over, chuckling, "When two people live together, bumps in the road are inevitable. Just communicate more. It’s late; you should head back early."

Lin Yu smiled slightly and looked toward Seo Mao standing next to He Lanzhi, "You are Seo Mao?"

Seo Mao didn’t take the matter to heart and sat nonchalantly, legs crossed, "I am."

Lin Yu scoffed disdainfully, looking at the chief, "This man has harassed Zhiwei, causing her significant mental stress and even psychological trauma. He should be dealt with according to the rules."

All three men’s expressions changed.

Turning her face away, Cheng Zhiwei suppressed the bitterness in her heart, while Xu Tian whispered enviously, "Auntie is just too good."

"Auntie," He Lanzhi stepped forward anxiously, "This really is a misunderstanding."

"Little He, this is our family matter," Lin Yu rebuked sharply.

"Mom, Cheng Zhiwei is also at fault. Please be reasonable," Zhou Lin finally spoke up.

"Oh? Where did Zhiwei go wrong?" Lin Yu counter-questioned.

Zhou Lin glanced at Cheng Zhiwei, his eyes filled with evident disgust, "Her dressing like that when going out is what caused the misunderstanding."

"Dressing like that? Isn’t it that this Seo Mao has filthy and lecherous thoughts?" Lin Yu’s tone became severe, and she rebuked bluntly, "It seems your brain is addled. Your own wife is humiliated, and you’re still eager to trample on her some more. You’re brainless."

Unashamed even after being exposed, He Lanzhi replied with a complacent smile, "Auntie, it’s just a misunderstanding."

Zhou Lin frowned, glanced at He Lanzhi, and knowing their close relationship and mutual understanding, how could Zhou Lin not know that this was He Lanzhi’s deliberate attempt to humiliate Cheng Zhiwei? But what of it? Had Cheng Zhiwei not gone to that kind of place, not dressed like that, she wouldn’t have given people the chance.

That’s why he said they were both at fault.

Lin Yu sneered with overwhelming presence, her voice cold, "Zhou Lin, Seo Mao bullies your wife, meaning he doesn’t respect you at all, and here you are, foolishly pleased with yourself, pig-headed."

After scolding him, she left with Cheng Zhiwei and Xu Tian.

Zhou Lin’s face turned unsightly after being scolded. He lit a cigarette, the smoke pale and ethereal, as if fading into nothingness.
