Chapter 805: Chapter 805: The Fear of the Six Great Families
Shen Chong spoke to Jing Yan with an attitude that carried a subtle, implicit humility.
Though he was the Continent Saint Master, in control of the entire Heavenly Origin Continent, Jing Yan was a Saint Realm powerhouse. In this world, the strong were revered. Even a Saint Master had to maintain awe in front of a Saint Realm practitioner.
"When the Guardian arrives, I’ll have a good talk with him. If he insists that I must leave the Heavenly Origin Continent immediately, I will comply with his wishes," Jing Yan said thoughtfully.
He understood the implication behind Shen Chong’s words to him.
From what Shen Chong said, Jing Yan also discerned that this Guardian’s strength was formidable, probably among the top in the Saint Realm. Otherwise, how could he have been the one to facilitate a ceasefire between the Human Clan and the Divine Race in the previous Human-God War?
Hearing Jing Yan say this, Shen Chong felt relieved, and his entire demeanor relaxed considerably.
His worry had been that if Jing Yan showed no respect to the Guardian, the situation could spiral out of control. If Jing Yan and the Guardian really started clashing without coming to terms, that could be a great cause for concern.
Then, Shen Chong shared many secrets about the Continent with Jing Yan, holding nothing back.
Once the official matters were discussed, Shen Chong didn’t immediately take his leave but started to chat leisurely with Jing Yan.
"Hall Master Jing Yan, there is one thing I’d like to ask your advice on," Shen Chong hesitated.
He wanted to ask about advancing to the Saint Realm but felt asking directly might be presumptuous. Yet, if he didn’t ask, his curiosity would remain unsated.
Seeing Shen Chong’s expression, Jing Yan smiled.
"Saint Master, do you want to know how I entered the Saint Realm?" Jing Yan asked with a laugh.
Shen Chong nodded eagerly, his eyes shining brightly.
"Actually, although I successfully entered the Saint Realm, my understanding of this breakthrough is not extensive."
"I was in Flowing Light City, clashing with Gai Family’s Saint Realm Ancestor Gu Luoshui. I was nearly killed by Gu Luoshui when I suddenly had an epiphany, which allowed me to break through."
"Afterward, I did some reflection. To enter the Saint Realm, a martial artist first needs some comprehension and understanding of the Power of Laws. Ordinary Dao Emperor Realm practitioners normally don’t get the chance to come in contact with the Power of Laws directly. This requires aid from things like elixirs containing Power of Laws, such as ninth-level elixirs of Perfect Quality."
"Saint Master, are you familiar with Divine Crystals?" Jing Yan paused to ask.
"Divine Crystals?" Shen Chong’s gaze sharpened slightly before he extended his hand.
Above the palm of his hand, a few Divine Crystals appeared.
"I’ve obtained some Divine Crystals before and know that they are nurtured by the Heaven and Earth Laws. I’ve tried using some in my past cultivation, but it didn’t seem to have much effect. These few, I’ve specifically kept," Shen Chong told Jing Yan.
"Hmm, Divine Crystals contain abundant Power of Laws. To step into the Saint Realm, Divine Crystals are a useful auxiliary tool."
"However, relatively speaking, Divine Crystals and elixirs are external objects and can only be considered auxiliary measures. To break through to the Saint Realm, there must be another primary factor. I believe, different martial artists have different ways of entering the Saint Realm. The experiences of others might not be applicable to oneself. My breakthrough was a process of destruction and then establishment," Jing Yan slowly said.
Hearing Jing Yan’s words, Shen Chong was alternately puzzled and seemed to gain some understanding.
Indeed, to advance to the Saint Realm, one couldn’t succeed merely by studying others’ methods of ascension; one needed to forge their own path.
The experiences of others could, at most, serve as a primer.
Shen Chong spent several hours chatting with Jing Yan before finally getting up to take his leave.
...
The ancestors from the Six Great Families met at a predetermined location.
"What should we do?" the Lan Family Ancestor asked with a worried expression.
One of the Seven Great Families, the Gai Family, had been thoroughly destroyed. The family members were almost entirely wiped out, with the few survivors that slipped through the net now hiding, destined to scrape by for the rest of their lives.
Of the Continent’s Seven Great Families, now only the Six Great Families remained.
And in the battle between Jing Yan’s Glory Alliance and the Gai Family, each of the Six Great Families had secretly sent a team of Dao Emperor Realm practitioners to support the Gai Family.
It might have been done secretly, with no issues on the surface, but could Jing Yan be unaware of the support the Six Great Families provided to the Gai Family?
As for evidence...
Now that Jing Yan, a Saint Realm powerhouse, was convinced of something, did he still need concrete evidence?
"We must make arrangements as soon as possible, otherwise, once Jing Yan decides to take action against our families, it will already be too late to respond by then!" Wu Family Ancestor said gravely.
"Yes! Jing Yan is a Saint Realm powerhouse! Even Gu Luoshui was killed by him! If he were to visit the turf of our families, then..." Cheng Family Ancestor was somewhat panicked.
"Alright, let’s not dwell on this anymore. Even if Jing Yan were still at Dao Emperor Realm Cultivation, we couldn’t oppose him. And now, we don’t have a second option but to go forward and offer our apology, asking for forgiveness. We can only pray that Jing Yan will forgive us," another family’s Ancestor said.
"It seems that’s the only way!"
"Then, shall we... all go together to Holy City to see Alliance Leader Jing Yan?"
"I don’t care whether you go or not; I’ll be heading to Holy City shortly. The resources for the apology, I have them all with me."
"Actually, my Wu Family has also prepared."
"Brother Wu, how many resources is your Wu Family preparing to offer as an apology?" Cheng Family Ancestor asked.
"I’d rather not disclose the specifics, but it’s a significant amount!" Wu Family Ancestor said, feeling the pinch.
Offering up so many resources hurt, but it was necessary. If they offered less, would Jing Yan even pay them any mind? Jing Yan was a Saint Realm powerhouse! Minor resources would probably not even receive a glance, and ordinary resources wouldn’t suffice. It had to be rare resources that could interest Jing Yan.
"Are you sure you don’t want to go together? If not, I’ll head off on my own!" another family’s Ancestor looked around and said.
"Together, together!"
"Let’s go!"
"Gentlemen, once we arrive at Holy City, let’s first meet with the Holy Master. If the Holy Master can put in a good word for us, I think the problem will be much easier to solve."
"That makes sense!"
"Right, first meet the Holy Master. This time, we will probably have to demonstrate our loyalty. Henceforth, all our actions within the Six Great Families will likely be influenced by the Holy Master’s preferences."
The group set out together.
Clearly, they were all fearful of meeting Jing Yan alone. Going together, they could find some comfort in each other’s company.
Indeed, they were frightened and wary of Jing Yan.
Six figures flew towards Holy City together, knowing the sooner they made their apologies, the better, and so they traveled as quickly as they could.
