The Sword God of the Universe -
Chapter 704
Chapter 704: 704
It took merely a month to find a suitable location, which was much faster than Jing Yan had anticipated.
After all, the amount of land he needed was quite substantial. If it were just a small piece, it would have been easier to find.
This also showed that Chang Huan was indeed putting a great deal of effort into this matter.
"Hall Master Jing Yan, this piece of land is currently owned by the Yan Family of Holy City. The Old Clan Leader of the Yan Family has an old acquaintance with me," Chang Huan told Jing Yan.
"Ah, the Yan Family must be considering my face to transfer this land," Jing Yan nodded.
"That’s nothing, I am honored to assist you, Hall Master," Chang Huan replied with a smile.
Jing Yan also smiled.
"Grand Steward, how much will it cost in Spirit Stones to transfer this land? Spirit Stones are negotiable, and I will certainly offer a price that satisfies the Yan Family," Jing Yan asked.
"Hall Master Jing Yan, I haven’t specifically discussed this with the Ancestor Yan Chao of the Yan Family. However, the Old Ancestor wanted to meet you, and since I wasn’t sure of your intentions, I didn’t bring him directly here," Chang Huan said, frowning slightly.
"It’s good to meet, and I should thank the Yan Family for transferring this land to me," Jing Yan replied nonchalantly. "Grand Steward, why don’t we go to the Yan Family now?"
Knowing that the land for the venue was nearly settled, Jing Yan became somewhat impatient.
If his father were not imprisoned by the Gai Family, Jing Yan wouldn’t be so anxious to deal with them. But with his father still in the hands of the Gai Family, Jing Yan certainly couldn’t afford to prepare leisurely.
"We don’t need to go to the Yan Family. The Yan Family’s Ancestor is currently at the land in question; we can go there directly to meet him. Alternatively, I could bring him here to meet you," Chang Huan suggested with a smile.
"No need for the trouble, let’s go meet him!" Jing Yan naturally didn’t care about who went to meet whom or where the meeting took place, as direct negotiations with the Yan Family’s Ancestor was preferable.
Soon after, before a huge dilapidated mansion, Jing Yan and Chang Huan arrived.
The mansion, evidently very rundown and lifeless, seemed to have been deserted for a long time. Most of its structures were quite mottled, showing signs of lengthy neglect.
The location was indeed not bad, and the area was sizable, definitely sufficient for setting up a venue.
When Jing Yan and Chang Huan arrived, numerous people were already waiting there in front of the main entrance of the mansion.
The person in the lead, dressed in a white robe, with white, thinning hair, and a somewhat stooped body, seemed very aged.
Without needing an introduction from Chang Huan, Jing Yan could guess that this white-haired elder was Yan Chao, the Ancestor of the Yan Family.
Seeing Jing Yan and Chang Huan appear, Yan Chao hastily smiled and, along with a group of people, came forward to greet them.
"Hall Master Jing Yan, this is Yan Chao," Chang Huan introduced Yan Chao to Jing Yan.
"Old friend, this is Hall Master Jing Yan of our Holy Palace," Chang Huan then introduced Jing Yan to Yan Chao.
"A pleasure to meet you, Hall Master," Yan Chao said, bending respectfully toward Jing Yan.
"Please, Old Brother Yan Chao, there’s no need for formalities," Jing Yan replied quickly.
Next, Yan Chao welcomed Jing Yan and Chang Huan into a house within the mansion.
This house had clearly been freshly cleaned. Like the outside, it was mottled but clean and tidy inside.
Just as Jing Yan had thought, the mansion indeed had been abandoned for some time. Decades ago, the Yan Family still used this mansion, but several decades ago, they acquired a new mansion and moved the family there, leaving this old mansion unoccupied until now.
Jing Yan also expressed his gratitude.
"Old Brother Yan Chao, I am very satisfied with this land. Just name your price in Spirit Stones," Jing Yan said, cutting to the chase after some pleasantries, asking about the price.
Jing Yan wasn’t worried about Yan Chao demanding an excessive amount. Given Chang Huan’s acquaintance with Yan Chao and Chang Huan’s relationship with him, Chang Huan wouldn’t let Yan Chao take advantage of him.
If the price was reasonable, Jing Yan wouldn’t mind much. At his level, ordinary resources mattered little to him, and ordinary Spirit Stones were merely stones.
Hearing Jing Yan’s inquiry, Chang Huan hesitated.
"Old friend, just name your price. Hall Master does not lack Spirit Stones. But, of course, you must adhere to the market price. If it’s too much, I won’t agree," Chang Huan said, smiling while urging him.
Yan Chao chuckled dryly, glanced at Chang Huan, then at Jing Yan, appearing hesitant.
"Hall Master Jing Yan, I dare to make a request," Yan Chao finally spoke up.
"Oh? Let’s hear it," Jing Yan raised his eyebrows.
"I have heard that Hall Master Jing Yan is very close to the Great Pill King Hu Donghe. Thus, I would like to ask Hall Master Jing Yan to introduce me to Great Pill King Hu Donghe. If Hall Master agrees to help me with this, I will give this piece of land to you as a gift."
"Of course, if it’s difficult for Hall Master, just forget what I said. This land can still be sold to you at the market price," Yan Chao said slowly.
Such a request was quite simple for Jing Yan.
He was confident that once he mentioned it, Great Pill King Hu Donghe would not refuse. He might even agree without consulting Hu Donghe.
Additionally, Yan Chao’s words did not upset Jing Yan in the slightest. It was a request, not an extortion, and Yan Chao would still sell him the land even if Jing Yan refused.
Yan Chao’s attitude was actually quite accommodating.
Just to introduce him to Hu Donghe was hardly an issue.
"Old friend, what do you want with Great Pill King Hu Donghe?" Chang Huan asked.
Clearly, he was unaware that Yan Chao would make such a request to Jing Yan.
"Grand Steward, don’t blame me for not informing you in advance; I actually just came up with this idea spontaneously. It was suggested to me by my subordinates, and I thought it might be an opportunity, so I made this rather bold request," Yan Chao said with a wry smile.
"I want to meet Great Pill King Hu Donghe to ask for his help in refining an elixir," Yan Chao explained.
"Oh?" Chang Huan’s eyes flickered slightly.
Jing Yan’s gaze also flashed.
"My time is running out."
"I’ve wanted to meet Great Pill King Hu Donghe for a long time but never had the chance. He is not someone I can just meet whenever I wish," Yan Chao sighed.
"Running out of time?" Chang Huan looked slightly startled.
"Yes! Grand Steward, I haven’t mentioned this to you before. Actually, my lifespan is rapidly depleting. If this continues, I will have no more than twenty years left to live," Yan Chao sighed again.
"How is that possible? Old friend, you are in the Daoist Emperor Realm, with a lifespan of a full two thousand years. You are merely about a thousand years old now, aren’t you?" said Chang Huan, clearly astonished.
