Chapter 608: Chapter 608: One Finger Annihilation [Third Update]

The Seventh Elder’s face grew red with urgency!

"Presumptuous! Your Brother Jing Yan has returned, why don’t you come to greet him!" the Seventh Elder bellowed sternly.

"Brother Jing Yan?" Jing Xi’s mouth hung open as he finally saw Jing Yan standing in the back of the crowd.

"Brother Jing Yan, when did you return?" Jing Xi’s face beamed with joy.

In fact, he was slightly older than Jing Yan.

"Hmm?" However, the joy on Jing Xi’s face quickly vanished.

He had seen Jing Yan, and naturally, he had also noticed Yan’er and the old hunter standing by Jing Yan’s side.

Why were they here?

After a brief moment of distraction, Jing Xi immediately realized that something might be wrong.

"Jing Xi, do you recognize them?" Jing Yan’s gaze fixed on Jing Xi.

"Jing Xi, do you recognize Yan’er and her grandfather? Speak up and tell Jing Yan!" urged the Seventh Elder.

"Brother Jing Yan, who are these two people? They don’t have any energy fluctuations on them, so they must just be ordinary people, right?" Jing Xi quickly recovered from his surprise, his astonishment flashing by in his eyes for just a moment before he smiled and said.

Not bad acting, he really did seem like he didn’t recognize Yan’er.

But what was Jing Yan’s level of Cultivation? Jing Xi might deceive others, but he couldn’t fool Jing Yan. From Jing Xi’s first reaction upon seeing Yan’er and her grandfather, Jing Yan was certain that Jing Xi definitely recognized them.

Now he was denying it.

So the answer was clear, those hoodlums were instigated by Jing Xi.

"Look, Jing Yan, Jing Xi genuinely doesn’t know them. Someone must be doing vile deeds under his name," the Seventh Elder exhaled with relief and said.

Jing Yan let out a cold laugh.

"Seventh Elder, from now on, you better not utter another word," Jing Yan narrowed his eyes.

"Yan’er, do you recognize this man?" Jing Yan asked Yan’er.

"Even if he turned to ashes, I would recognize him. Those people were instructed by him; I saw it with my own eyes, all of them following behind him. It was only after he left that they stopped my grandfather and me from leaving," Yan’er said through clenched teeth.

She, of course, hated Jing Xi.

If it weren’t for Jing Yan’s timely arrival, her fate today would have been dire, and her grandfather might have been killed.

"You girl, don’t speak nonsense! Do you know who I am? If you throw dirt on me, you can’t bear the consequences," Jing Xi shouted fiercely.

By now, he could somewhat guess what had happened; it must have been his followers who were caught snatching people by Jing Yan, who had just returned to Donglin City, leading to the present situation.

"Brother Jing Yan, you surely don’t believe this crazy girl’s words?" Jing Xi gave Yan’er a malicious glance then turned to Jing Yan with a wronged expression.

"Ah..." Jing Yan only sighed.

This Jing Xi was rotten to the core.

Jing Yan didn’t pay any attention to Jing Xi but turned to Jing Chengye.

"Clan Leader, do you truly know nothing about the things Jing Xi has done?" Jing Yan’s calm voice was like the sea before a storm.

His heart was filled with utmost fury.

He had never imagined that disciples of the Jing Family would commit actions that even gods and humans would resent. It seemed he had been too presumptive. With the family size, it’s inevitable to have the good mixed with the bad. If the upper echelons don’t enforce strict controls, scoundrels will inevitably take advantage of the family’s power and become lawless.

Jing Chengye could vaguely sense that Jing Yan’s heart was probably not as calm as his words suggested.

For a moment, he didn’t know how to answer Jing Yan’s question.

"What a disappointment!"

"Jing Chengye, I entrusted you with the Jing Family, what have you been doing?"

"With people like Jing Xi, you turn a blind eye. What’s the point of having such a powerful family? If this is the case, then I would rather have the Jing Family from several years ago when our family’s disciples would not bully the weak and commit despicable deeds that everyone spurns."

"Seventh Elder!"

"The vile acts of your grandson, Jing Xi, are not just one or two instances. I don’t believe you know nothing about them. If you are aware of his actions and yet you do nothing to stop him, in my eyes, you are an accomplice."

"It seems the family may need a thorough cleansing."

Jing Yan exhaled deeply, shaking his head again.

Everyone in the Council Hall fell silent, wrapped in a chilling atmosphere so oppressive it seemed they could scarcely breathe.

In their memory, Jing Yan seemed to have never been so furiously angered.

By this time, everyone could sense the anger hidden behind Jing Yan’s calm words.

"Brother Jing Yan, what are you implying?"

"Are you saying you want to kill me?"

"Haha, even if I did what you think I’ve done, so what? I’ve just played with a few women; what’s the big deal?"

"With over ten million people in Donglin City, what does it matter if dozens die?"

"They are all worthless; to me, they are no more than ants. Is stepping on a few ants worth such a fuss?" Jing Xi was used to his arrogance.

At this point, he didn’t think he had done anything wrong. In his eyes, it was Jing Yan who was making a mountain out of a molehill.

If it weren’t for Jing Yan’s high prestige and strength, he would probably have cursed or even struck him by now.

Within the entire Jing Family, there were not many who Jing Xi respected. He could disregard even some of the family elders without ceremony.

This had led him to an astonishing level of arrogance.

"You admit it?" Jing Yan’s voice remained calm.

"Admit it? Yes, I admit it! Over the last few years, I’ve played with quite a few of those lowlifes, those worthless lives. I reckon, almost three or four dozen. Most of them are dead, killed by me," Jing Xi was becoming unhinged.

His soul was twisted, or it could be said that he had become demonized.

"Jing Yan, what do you really want? I didn’t kill any Jing Family members, so do you intend to go against me for some outsiders? To go against your own clan brother?" Jing Xi’s eyes turned blood-red, as if Jing Yan were the one at fault.

"Jing Xi, just take your own life!" Jing Yan shook his head.

He no longer wished to exchange any more words with this scum, nor did he even want to kill him personally.

"What did you say?" Jing Xi stared intensely at Jing Yan.

"Jing Yan!" the Seventh Elder’s voice was filled with sorrow, "It’s my fault; I didn’t look after Jing Xi properly. I beg you, for the sake of my old face, spare Jing Xi’s life. I... I can die in his place. Take my life for his!"

"Do you think if I let him go this time, he would repent? He’s already demonized, he has no remorse!" Jing Yan glanced at the Seventh Elder and shook his head.

"Enough, it seems impossible for him to take his own life. I’ll do it myself!" Jing Yan’s heart was brimming with disappointment.

He raised his hand and flicked a finger.

"No! No! Jing Yan, you can’t kill me! You bastard..." Jing Xi aimed to flee, but he felt completely immobilized. He was enveloped in a killing intent, and as Jing Yan flicked his finger towards him, he screamed hideously.
