Chapter 929: Chapter 898: Principles, Visiting
Seeing the expression on his son’s face, Old Master Tang was quite proud.
"Little rascal, I’ve finally found a way to deal with you."
Soft approach works better than hard one, huh!
"Father, those are the things you like, just keep them for your collection. I have my own ways to handle money matters," Tang Qian said, "When your son has made money, whatever you fancy, I’ll buy it for you, to properly show my filial piety."
"Good, then I’ll wait for you to strike it rich," Old Master Tang said. He wasn’t much interested in wining and dining, but he did enjoy collecting antiques and paintings.
In their circle, he was a connoisseur, and over the years, he had acquired some treasures.
"I mean what I say," Tang Qian said, hoping to take care of his parents through his own efforts and not to worry them anymore.
Seeing his son like this, Old Master Tang finally reminded, "Tang Qian, doing business is fine, and sometimes using certain methods and influence is allowed, but remember, you must not be unreasonable when you’re in the right, bully others with your power, and most importantly, you must not involve yourself in any murderous lawsuits."
In their level of society, certain methods are tacitly approved since most people operate that way. If you don’t, you’ll be seen as not fitting in and will be ostracized.
However, if you get involved in a case involving a life, you may hide it for a while, but not forever.
Keep in mind there are no walls without leaks in the world, especially for people in high positions like them. If there is a will to investigate, there are no secrets that can’t be uncovered.
When in power, you might escape punishment, but once you lose power, or if you block the path of an even greater power, those things will be brought to light, with certainty, and even if you don’t face a firing squad, you’re likely to spend the rest of your days in jail.
This is a matter of principle.
It is also a basic principle for self-preservation.
"Yes, Father, there are rules and systems in business. I won’t do anything that harms others’ lives, so don’t worry," Tang Qian, who had hustled on the outside for years, naturally understood his father’s meaning.
That’s also why he wasn’t angry when He Tiantian blocked him and scolded him.
It’s important to stand up for oneself, but offending people, that’s not acceptable.
"That’s good. If there’s anything you can’t solve, you can ask your brothers and sisters for help," Old Master Tang said, "However, if you want to secure this deal, it’s best to get closer to the Huo Family’s Second Wife."
"Hmm, I’ve already made an apology and introduction visit last time. I plan to find time to bring some gifts and pay a visit to Huo Yingjie," Tang Qian said. Although He Tiantian might be the one in charge, Huo Yingjie was He Tiantian’s husband after all.
With his former reputation as a playboy, going straight to He Tiantian could lead to misunderstandings, which would not only offend the Huo Family but also lose a great opportunity.
The first time Tang Qian saw He Tiantian, he was captivated.
The second time, he had some thoughts.
But later on, Tang Qian realized He Tiantian was not someone he could touch as he pleased, and he could only think of getting along with her peacefully.
Furthermore, now he understood, as long as a man has money and power, what kind of women can he not have!
Now his mind was set on making a comeback. As for women, he’d think about that once his career was stable.
Afterward, Tang Qian began gathering information, inquiring here and there, and found out that the visitors were indeed the biggest shareholders of Fuxi Automobile, Qi Zhenghan and Qi Zhengmin.
Tang Qian also found out that He Tiantian was helping out. Although he hadn’t seen those cars, with the joint venture technology, they should not be too shabby.
The most important thing was, with money, one could just buy them!
No need for all those messy certifications.
Having figured out these things, Tang Qian took his father’s two bottles of special supply, mounted his clunky old bicycle, and whizzed off to Maoer Alley.
Huo Yingjie was in the courtyard, leaning on his cane as he moved around to exercise his body and joints. Two children were playing games to one side, and he watched them.
Grandma Wang, with nothing particular to do, was helping out by picking through vegetables and occasionally looked up at the two children not far away.
"Yingjie, what has Tiantian been busy with these past few days?" Grandma Wang asked. Last semester, even though He Tiantian also had classes and the shop, she spent a lot of time at home.
This semester, she also has classes three days a week, but Tiantian has been bustling about outside, sometimes not even coming home for dinner.
Huo Yingjie was also feeling somewhat gloomy, and he regretted supporting He Tiantian in becoming a car dealer. But his opposition was futile, those shares were already Tiantian’s.
Huo Yingjie understood that in He Tiantian’s heart, she was particularly protective of her own things and had to do well.
Making money was one thing, but for He Tiantian, losing money would be more painful than cutting flesh.
"Hehe, just some business matters," Huo Yingjie said. "I can’t help much with it, she’s working hard."
"That’s right, Tiantian is very hardworking and enduring. How well our family lives is all thanks to Tiantian," Grandma Wang said. Just working wouldn’t allow us to live this well. A fixed salary alone isn’t even enough to cover the household grocery expenses.
Huo Yingjie affirmed this point.
But with the Huo Family backing her, He Tiantian could be confident and bold in her business endeavors. As long as she operated with integrity, there would be no problems at all.
None of the government departments would come looking for trouble, nor would any hooligans come to disturb her.
Just as Huo Yingjie and Grandma Wang were talking, someone rang the doorbell at the Huo Family’s entrance.
Old Guo, who was cleaning the yard, hurried to answer the door and saw a young man outside, asking, "Comrade, who are you looking for?"
Tang Qian smiled politely and said, "Hello, uncle. Is Huo Yingjie home? I’m Tang Qian. I would like to talk to him about something."
Old Guo, seeing that Tang Qian didn’t look like a bad person, said, "Wait here for a moment. My master is not well and is resting at home. I’ll ask him and see if it’s convenient for him to meet with you."
Old Guo opened the door and first let Tang Qian inside.
There was a small room to the side, specially for waiting. The room was elegantly furnished, and there were fruits, magazines, and other items placed around.
Ah, the customs of the Huo Family as a distinguished household had really taken shape.
At the very least, he was more than willing to wait here.
Hopefully, his trip today wouldn’t be in vain.
Old Guo entered the second door and found Huo Yingjie, saying, "Sir, there’s someone named Tang Qian outside asking to see you. If you don’t want to see him, I’ll tell him you need to rest and ask him to come another day."
Huo Yingjie raised an eyebrow, now a bit curious.
Tang Qian?
Hadn’t this person already apologized?
Why would he come again?
Since he had nothing else to do at the moment, Huo Yingjie nodded and said, "Okay, let him come in."
Huo Yingjie stopped moving and sat on a stone bench, which already had a thick cushion laid on it; even the stone table had a tablecloth on it.
Tang Qian followed Old Guo and walked in.
"Yingjie, hello!" Tang Qian said with a smile. Although Tang Qian was younger than Huo Yingjie, according to the family hierarchy, he was of an older generation, on the same level as Huo Zheqian and Huo Zhekun, so addressing Huo Yingjie by his first name was normal.
