Chapter 902: Chapter 871 Peace of Mind? Persuasion
In the afternoon, He Tiantian went home, washed herself, changed her clothes, and brought dinner over. She was going to stay with Huo Yingjie that night.
That evening, He Tiantian arranged for someone to take Song Chunli back to the Huo Family Old Mansion.
At night, Zhou Yuanchao woke up.
He Tiantian helped Huo Yingjie over to visit Zhou Yuanchao.
Seeing Zhou Yuanchao awake and able to speak, Huo Yingjie finally felt relieved.
This time had been too dangerous.
However, now that Zhou Yuanchao had pulled through this time, he would be safe and smooth sailing for the rest of his life.
"Yuanchao, don’t worry about home or work; just focus on your recovery," Huo Yingjie said, feeling even greater respect for Zhou Yuanchao in his heart. He would be even better to this brother in the future.
"Boss, thank you for looking after my family," Zhou Yuanchao replied with a slight smile. "I don’t think there is anything seriously wrong with me now. The doctor also said I’m fine, so you all don’t need to worry about me."
"Good brother, I’ll wait for you, and we’ll create our enterprise together," Huo Yingjie said. "The results of this incident will come out in two days, and by then, I’ll come and tell you myself."
"Hmm, how are the other colleagues?" Zhou Yuanchao asked, hoping everyone else was alright since they all worked together.
"Your injuries were the most severe; the others were just minor," Huo Yingjie said. "I’ve just received the newest information; we’ll soon be building a new laboratory, and by then, we’ll be in charge. I promise such an incident will never happen again."
"Boss, I believe in you," Zhou Yuanchao said. "I will rest up well and then give it our all together, brother."
"Hmm, rest assured," Huo Yingjie said. "Your parents will arrive tomorrow."
"Ah, it pains me to have them travel in such cold weather," Zhou Yuanchao said with a wry smile. "Ah, but at home, there’s only Wang Ying. Even if she takes time off, she can’t take off for months to take care of me! We can only have our parents come over."
"Yuanchao, you’ve always wanted your parents to come over. Now is a good chance," Huo Yingjie said. "Of course, with your condition, it’s inconvenient to live upstairs, so I’ve already had someone renovate the house you’ve bought. Your parents can stay in your current room for now, and once you’re settled, you’ll move in after you’re discharged from the hospital," Huo Yingjie said. "Living on the ground floor is more convenient."
Zhou Yuanchao was moved and said, "Thank you, Boss!"
"No need to thank me," Huo Yingjie said. "You were injured for me; it’s the least I can do."
"Boss, back at the base, you also saved my life. Since I discovered the danger slightly earlier this time, naturally, I couldn’t let you face danger," Zhou Yuanchao said. "From now on, I can proudly say that our bond is forged through life and death."
Wang Ying was startled; she had been comfortably accepting help from He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie all this time, thinking her husband’s injury was because of Huo Yingjie, but she hadn’t realized that Huo Yingjie had previously saved her husband’s life as well.
It seemed she would have to change her thinking.
Quickly adjusting her mindset, Wang Ying became even more respectful towards Huo Yingjie and He Tiantian.
"Alright, you get some rest. I’ll come see you again tomorrow," Huo Yingjie said, and with He Tiantian’s support, he headed back to the hospital room.
"Boss, you rest well too," Zhou Yuanchao said, watching them as they left.
After He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie had left.
Wang Ying asked cautiously, "Yuanchao, when did the Boss save your life?"
"It was supposed to be confidential, but you’re my wife, and since this concerns both of our families, I should make it clear to you, so we don’t take the Boss and his wife’s kindness for granted," Zhou Yuanchao didn’t want his wife’s actions to harm the relationship between the two families.
Though Zhou Yuanchao was not one for sweating the small stuff, as a researcher, he was highly intelligent—how could he fail to notice the shift in his wife’s attitude?
She probably felt that since he had saved the Boss, they were entitled to others’ help.
Wang Ying’s face showed some embarrassment as she said, "You were so badly injured, I was panicking, completely at a loss..."
"Mhm, I understand your pain, thank you for being with me the whole time," Zhou Yuanchao said, "Back then, in the secret base, during our experiment, a missile exploded near us..."
Zhou Yuanchao recounted the harrowing incident from before, and also how Huo Yingjie had rescued others.
"Oh, I’ve got it," Wang Ying said, "I won’t be so petty again."
"Mhm, you’ve had a hard time, I’m a bit tired, I’ll get some sleep first," Zhou Yuanchao said, "You should get some sleep too, don’t worry about me, I’ll call you if I need anything."
Wang Ying nodded, "Okay, you rest."
Seeing that Zhou Yuanchao had closed his eyes, Wang Ying also lied down on the adjacent hospital bed to rest.
She was so exhausted that once relaxed, Wang Ying soon fell asleep. Still, with Zhou Yuanchao on her mind, she would wake up from time to time during the night to check on him and would only go back to sleep once she was sure he was okay.
Zhou Yuanchao woke up once during the night and was touched to see his wife so concerned.
Having married such a good wife, even though she sometimes made mistakes, she would correct them once told, and she was kind to his family—a good woman indeed.
He Tiantian had been busy during the past couple of days, running between home and the hospital.
It was just revision time for the students, and come Monday, she only had to proctor for a day before the semester ended.
Song Chunli and Zhao Huanhuan took turns coming over during the day, as did Huo Yingjun to take care of Huo Yingjie.
Zhou Yuanchao’s parents arrived, and seeing that Zhou Yuanchao had regained consciousness, they finally let go of their long-held worries.
"Dad, with Big Brother’s help, Wang Ying and I have bought a property in Yanjing. You and Mom should settle down in Yanjing," Zhou Yuanchao said softly, "so we can take good care of you. By the way, don’t you still want a granddaughter? Once I’m recovered, let’s have one, and you can help me with the child."
Zhou Yuanchao’s stepfather, Amur, showed a hint of gratification on his dark face and said, "Okay, I’ll stay for a couple of days to keep you company, then go back to handle those things before coming to Yanjing."
"Thank you, Ah Bu," Zhou Yuanchao said, "If you find the city life too quiet, I can lease you a piece of land in the suburbs or on a hillside to keep you busy, how does that sound?"
"Good, good!" Amur said with a simple smile, "I’ll work the land, and Ah Bu can raise cows and sheep to provide meat for Yuanchao."
This simple, forthright man might not be good at sweet talk, but he had always shown his love and protection through his actions.
Now that he was old, it was time for Zhou Yuanchao to properly honor his father.
Zhou Yuanchao’s mother, Yan Cui, looked at her son and husband, finally in agreement, no longer torn between the two.
As they aged, there were many tasks they could no longer do.
Settling in Yanjing with their son sounded good. She wanted to come back.
"Brother, sister-in-law, I’ve missed you," Hasqiqige said, emerging from behind their parents, his chubby red cheeks making him especially adorable.
