Chapter 862: Chapter 831: Debate, Surprise
Grandma Wang smiled and said, "The more children there are, the less picky they are at mealtimes."
"Yes, I heard that Ruixiang, who used to be picky, just finished all his food. Back when he was at the old mansion, he was especially fussy," Jiang Lifang said. "And when there are more kids at home, it’s lively!"
Everyone nodded, agreeing with Jiang Lifang’s words.
Grandma Wang smiled again and said, "No wonder the Old Madam likes having the children around her. Watching these kids eat, I even had an extra half bowl of porridge myself."
"Hehe, so did we," Jiang Lifang said.
This side was warm and pleasant morning and evening, but the atmosphere was not so harmonious over at the Huo Family Old Mansion.
Song Chunli got up early and didn’t see her eldest grandson, so she searched everywhere. When she found out her grandson was not at home, she hastily asked, "Huanhuan, Ruixiang has never stayed outside before. Aren’t you afraid he’ll cry if you leave him over there?"
"Mom, Ruixiang asked to stay there himself because he wanted to play with his brothers and sisters," Zhao Huanhuan explained. "Little kids just like lively places."
"How can you be a mother and just leave your child outside like that?" Song Chunli frowned and said, "Hurry up and bring him back for me."
Huo Yingjun entered from behind and said, "Mom, that’s my second brother’s place, they won’t mistreat Ruixiang."
"Even if he is mistreated, we wouldn’t know," Song Chunli said, thinking about the previous unhappiness with the second branch of the family. The others couldn’t do anything about her, but what if they targeted her grandson?
Zhao Huanhuan was somewhat speechless; her mother-in-law’s pettiness was acting up again.
"Mom, if Ruihua and Ruimin were left at our place by my second brother and his wife, would you mistreat those two children?" Huo Yingjun asked, knowing that his mother might be muddled but wouldn’t make things difficult for kids.
"Of course not," Song Chunli said. "I may not get along with your second aunt, but what do the children know? Why would I hold anything against them?"
They were all descendants of the Huo family; she wouldn’t do such a thing.
"Hehe, there you go," Huo Yingjun said. "So, you shouldn’t worry about the second aunt and second sister-in-law mistreating Ruixiang. They’ve watched him grow up and would be too heartbroken to mistreat him; there’s no need for such complicated thoughts!"
"That’s true, your second aunt is sharp-tongued, but she wouldn’t really do such a thing," Song Chunli said. "Ah, I won’t play the villain anymore. If you all aren’t worried, I’m just fretting for nothing. Huanhuan, go send some clothes to Ruixiang and check to see if he’s cried."
"I’ve packed the clothes. If Ruixiang can’t get used to it, I’ll bring him back," Zhao Huanhuan said, relieved that her mother-in-law had finally stopped nagging.
After breakfast, Zhao Huanhuan went to work and dropped by to deliver some clothes.
The three children were playing with sand and didn’t seem unhappy in the least.
"Sister Tiantian, have the children caused any trouble for you?" Zhao Huanhuan asked. "If Ruixiang is naughty, I’ll take him away."
"He hasn’t been naughty; after eating well, he’s been playing in the sand over there," He Tiantian explained.
Playing with sand seemed rather dirty.
Seeing her sister-in-law’s expression, and knowing she was a doctor who might have some germaphobe tendencies, He Tiantian quickly said, "Hehe, Sister-in-law, don’t worry. Yingjie personally cleaned that sand; it’s very clean with no mud."
"Hmm, that’s good," Zhao Huanhuan said with a forced smile. "Since he’s so happy, I won’t take him away. Could you watch over him for another day or two?"
"It’s no trouble at all," He Tiantian said with a smile.
"Mommy, good morning," Huo Ruixiang greeted his mother when he heard her voice.
"Good morning, Auntie," the twins greeted.
Zhao Huanhuan was stunned. When had the kids become so polite? She smiled and replied, "Ruixiang, Ruimin, Ruihua, good morning to you too. Mommy is going to work now. Shall I come to see you tonight?"
"Mommy, you go to work. Don’t come to pick me up tonight; I want to stay at my aunt’s house for a week," Huo Ruixiang said, thinking a week was a long time in his young mind.
Zhao Huanhuan gave a wry smile and turned to He Tiantian, "My goodness, this child is away from home for the first time and he doesn’t even miss it. That’s really something. Before, he wouldn’t even agree to stay at my mother’s place."
"There are kids playing over here," He Tiantian said with a smile. "Big sister, it’s getting late. You should head to work. I’ll watch the kids for you."
"Okay, I’m off then," Zhao Huanhuan said with a smile.
"Bye, Mommy."
"Goodbye, Great-Aunt!"
The three children just lifted their heads briefly, then continued playing with the sand.
It was a critical moment now; the castle was about to be completed, and there was no time to get up and be coquettish with Mommy.
Zhao Huanhuan felt a pang in her heart, just one day had made her feel that her son was different.
He didn’t seem as naughty as before and had also become much more sensible.
It seemed that she should take the opportunity to learn from her younger brother and his wife on how to teach children, to make them so well-behaved and obedient.
When it was a little past ten in the morning, He Tiantian juiced some fruit and gave each of the three kids a cup.
Sour and sweet, just what the children loved.
Lunch, nap time, and then more playtime in the afternoon.
Huo Ruixiang really liked it here, he didn’t want to go home and was thoroughly enjoying himself.
When Zhao Huanhuan came to pick up her son after work in the evening, her son simply refused to go home with her.
Upon arriving at the Huo Family Old Mansion, Song Chunli was irritated not to see her grandson brought back by Zhao Huanhuan, but she held her tongue in front of everyone else.
Qi Xiaoyan had nothing to do during the summer vacation and came over to find He Tiantian for a visit.
The house was bustling all day long.
After finishing her tasks here, Jiang Lifang started packing her belongings to go back.
She was no longer worried about the little ones here and began to miss her husband in Nan City.
Before she left, Jiang Wenwen came to visit.
She brought three pieces of clothing with her.
"Auntie, come and see, this is the clothing I made for you," Jiang Wenwen said. "I designed it myself, and you will definitely look good in it."
Seeing that her niece had her in mind, Jiang Lifang was moved by the sentiment before even considering the quality of the garments.
"Okay, I’ll try them on," Jiang Lifang took a white blouse and orange cropped wide-leg pants and went into the room.
"Sister Tiantian, this is the design I have for you," Jiang Wenwen said. "Has Xiao Yan sister not arrived?"
"Who’s looking for me?" Qi Xiaoyan said as she arrived with the kids.
Since Qi Xiaoyan had nothing much to do at home and often brought the kids over, she had just happened to run into Jiang Wenwen.
"Xiao Yan Sister, it’s me. Your clothes are ready. Hurry over and try them on," Jiang Wenwen spoke excitedly, very satisfied with the three pieces of clothing she made.
Qi Xiaoyan, always keen on new clothes, replied, "Good, good, I’ll try them on right away."
As He Tiantian and Qi Xiaoyan went into the house to try on clothes, Jiang Lifang came out of the room.
All could see Jiang Lifang clad in a white V-neck blouse with three-quarter sleeves, slightly cinched at the waist, and sporting orange cropped wide-leg pants. The pant legs were slightly flared, paired with black leather sandals on her feet.
"Wenwen, I really like this outfit," Jiang Lifang had inspected herself in the mirror in the room and thought it looked much better than her usual shorts and long pants.
