The Sweetness of the Seventies
Chapter 856 - 825: Praise, Hope

Chapter 856: Chapter 825: Praise, Hope

Hearing this, Jiang Wenwen was unable to hold her anger any longer.

"Can’t I even make a dress for myself?" Jiang Wenwen argued. Her family was against her pursuing fashion design primarily because this cousin would always tell their parents and grandparents that tailoring was a lowly job that only served others, and it was all a messy business.

Old feudal thinking!

Thinking about how her cousin wore clothes she made herself, which weren over quite unique in style and looked better than what was available at the tailor’s, Jiang Wenwen felt stifled.

"Of course, of course, making your own clothes showcases your clever hands and mind," Jiang Wenhui said, "By the way, I like the dress you’re wearing today. I have a piece of fabric, why don’t you make one for me as well?"

"I don’t have time," Jiang Wenwen flatly refused, "I have to attend classes at the Youth Palace soon, and I won’t have time to make clothes."

"You’re just being stingy," Jiang Wenhui complained, "We’re family. I always keep you in mind when something good happens, so what’s the big deal in making a dress for me?"

"Nothing’s wrong," Jiang Wenwen responded, "Don’t you remember the last dress I made for you? You said I ruined it and wasted the fabric after you put it on. If it was really ruined, that’s one thing, but if it’s not good-looking, why do you wear it all the time?"

Jiang Wenwen just didn’t like people like Jiang Wenhui, who don’t appreciate others’ hard work.

Jiang Wenhui was about to say more when He Tiantian smiled and asked, "Wenwen, are you going to the Youth Palace to teach children art?"

"Yes, there are quite a few kids there." Jiang Wenwen replied, suddenly remembering she was not at her own home but at her cousin’s house.

Today was her cousin’s housewarming, a joyful occasion, and her quarreling with her cousin at such an event was quite rude; she’d find an opportunity to apologize to her cousin later.

"Oh, other than art, are there any other hobby classes?" He Tiantian asked, "My child and Xiao Yan’s child are also getting mischievous at home, and I was thinking of enrolling them in some hobby classes."

Jiang Wenwen, exasperated, answered, "Cousin, they should go to the Yu Hong Class, not a hobby class. They’re too young; the kids there are all about ten years old and can take care of themselves. The kids who still need help in the bathroom, they don’t accept them there."

"Oh, I see," He Tiantian said," then we’ll send them when they’re a bit older."

Jiang Lifang noticed He Tiantian and Jiang Wenwen were enjoying their conversation, felt it was pointless, and took her leave after saying goodbye.

At that moment, Qi Xiaoyan came in.

"How are the children?" He Tiantian asked, as she had been busy with guests and had left the children in Qi Xiaoyan’s care.

"They are all playing in the toy room," Qi Xiaoyan said. "There are many children and lots of toys, so they don’t need adults to accompany them."

"Then you should join us, let’s all chat." He Tiantian smiled. "Xiao Yan, this is Yingjie’s cousin Jiang Wenwen; Wenwen, this is my good sister, Qi Xiaoyan, who is currently studying at Huaxia Music College."

"Wow, Xiao Yan, you’re amazing," Jiang Wenwen praised, "You have a beautiful voice, and you’re good-looking too."

"You flatter me," Qi Xiaoyan said. "You’re very pretty too! By the way, where did you buy the dress you’re wearing? It’s really nice."

Jiang Wenwen was overjoyed to receive such praise for her dress; it pleased her even more than compliments about her looks. She eagerly asked, "Really? You think it looks good too?"

"It’s lovely, really very beautiful," Qi Xiaoyan said. "The collar on your dress is quite unique, unlike the usual round necks—it’s triangular, and the sleeves are three-quarter length as are the pants, which makes it both stylish and cool. Plus, these ruffles around it make it look playful and cute."

Feeling as if she had found a kindred spirit, Jiang Wenwen said, "You’re absolutely right, I designed and made it myself. To my family, these cute ruffles are just a waste of fabric, utterly superfluous."

Hearing the clothes were made by Jiang Wenwen herself, Qi Xiaoyan’s eyes lit up. She couldn’t afford, nor dare to dream about, those clothes sent from abroad to He Tiantian, but having some unique clothes made probably wouldn’t cost much.

From Qi Xiaoyan’s expression, He Tiantian knew what she was thinking, probably hoping Jiang Wenwen would make clothes for her too.

"Wenwen, you’re really amazing," Qi Xiaoyan praised, "If I buy some fabric, could you make one for me too? I can pay you for your work."

Someone appreciating her craft made Jiang Wenwen very happy, and she said, "No need for labor fees, just bring over the fabric and I’ll make it for you. When I open my shop in the future, I’ll start charging you then."

"That’s really kind of you," Qi Xiaoyan said, and since there was no charge, she could give Jiang Wenwen some gifts.

"Wenwen, now it’s not called a tailor’s shop but a fashion design studio," He Tiantian said, "You can offer custom orders for individuals, design your own clothes, and find factories to produce them for your store."

Hearing He Tiantian’s words, Jiang Wenwen’s eyes brightened and she said, "Right, right, it should be a fashion design studio! Tailor’s shops do indeed sound a bit old-fashioned."

The three of them had a lot in common and laughed and chatted in the house.

Afterwards, He Tiantian checked the time, saw that it was time to start cooking, and went to help in the kitchen.

With many hands making light work, they prepared two large banquet tables and one smaller one.

One table for the men, another for the women, and since the children were around four or five years old, old enough to eat on their own, they separated some child-friendly dishes into another table for the children to eat together.

After a hearty meal, the older folks felt a bit tired, and He Tiantian arranged for them to rest.

After resting for more than an hour, everyone gathered together to chat and laugh.

Old Madam Jiang was very pleased to see her daughter had a house of her own.

There were some things Old Madam Jiang knew but couldn’t talk about, yet she finally didn’t have to worry as much as before.

Old Madam Huo was also sighing endlessly, no wonder the second branch didn’t want to stay at the old mansion.

With a large house, who would want to crowd with others?

However, Old Madam Huo was pleased as well, as long as her son and grandson were doing well, nothing else mattered.

Song Chunli wanted several times to discuss the contract matter with He Tiantian but seeing the Jiang Family around, it indeed wasn’t appropriate to speak now, so she had to restrain herself.

By the afternoon around three or four o’clock, Old Madam Jiang saw it was getting late and began to take her leave, followed gradually by the others.

Only the Huo family members remained.

Seeing He Tiantian busy cutting watermelon, Song Chunli hurriedly said, "Tiantian, leave the watermelon cutting for later, let’s go inside and talk, when exactly are you opening your shop?"

He Tiantian put down the watermelon knife, smiled, and said, "It should open in about a month."

"A month?" Song Chunli was overjoyed, "Then about the matter of distributing some shares to us that we spoke of earlier, how exactly are you planning to distribute them?"

He Tiantian washed her hands and said, "Since you asked, Aunt, it saves me a trip to the old mansion. I have already drafted the contract. If you think it’s suitable, you can invest."

"Alright, let me have a look," Song Chunli said, "Oh yes, Tiantian, is it possible to allocate more shares to us? You know, our family has many members, and we need money for everything; too little doesn’t make much difference."
