Chapter 823: Chapter 792: Progress, Retribution
While others rested, Teacher He had to give them feedback.
It was extremely hard work.
"Yuan Hua, please take a seat," He Tiantian said. "Let’s take a look at your poetry!"
"Okay, thank you, Teacher He," Yuan Hua replied respectfully as she sat down next to He Tiantian, very earnestly.
He Tiantian smiled and said, "I don’t have very high insights about poetry, but I do know that literary works originate from reality, rise above reality, and can be both ornate and plain, like those ancient poets and lyricists."
"You’re right, Teacher He," Yuan Hua was enlightened. Literary works come from reality and rise above it, and this gave her a hint of understanding.
"Hmm, regardless of whether it’s ornate or plain, every poem expresses the poet’s emotions," He Tiantian explained. "That is the true essence of poetry. In yours, some parts don’t seem to have emotion; they just look like a pile of vocabulary."
Hearing her teacher say this, Yuan Hua was startled, her face flushed slightly as she nodded, "Yes, what Teacher He said is correct!"
Upon hearing this, He Tiantian smiled and said, "Don’t be disheartened. Poetry, since ancient times, has always been something distilled from experience, requiring delicate emotions and a pair of eyes good at observing."
"Yes, Teacher He, I’ve noted that down," Yuan Hua said. "I now know where my weaknesses lie."
"If you lack inspiration, you can read more, think more," He Tiantian advised. "’Remain true to our original aspiration and you will have the perseverance to succeed.’
He Tiantian simply pointed out the shortcomings in Yuan Hua’s poetry, while also offering her praise.
Yuan Hua wasn’t discouraged; upon reflection, she felt her thinking had become broader than before.
"Teacher He, I think I understand now," Yuan Hua said joyfully, as if the veil that had been over her eyes had been lifted, becoming transparent.
"Yes! You are very talented, keep working hard," He Tiantian said with a smile, knowing she had done her best, regardless of what the future held.
In the half-month that followed, He Tiantian had conversations with the students.
One girl, named Mo Xiaohui, loved romance novels, especially those by Zhang Ailing, so He Tiantian suggested she write some emotional fiction; there was a boy in the class, Ma Zichen, who knew historical figures like the back of his hand, and He Tiantian suggested he write historical novels, and so on...
He Tiantian’s efforts were appreciated by her students.
As they worked hard at their studies, they were also weaving their own hobbies and futures.
Time flew by, and before they knew it, winter had arrived.
The cold wind howled, and snowflakes fluttered down.
He Tiantian almost didn’t want to leave the house, but she still had to go to school.
Fortunately, with the exams half a month away, after today’s class and the exams prepared, He Tiantian wouldn’t need to go to school anymore.
When the exams came around, she would just need to go to the school to proctor them.
At home, while the students busied themselves reviewing, trying not to fall behind in their studies, He Tiantian was at ease.
If they didn’t do well on the exams, He Tiantian wouldn’t review their manuscripts in the future.
So, the students were more serious than usual, and with a good foundation, passing grades weren’t difficult to achieve.
As He Tiantian walked back from school, Grandma Wang hurried to help dust the snow off He Tiantian, saying, "Ah, having to work on a snowy day, how pitiful. When are the exams? You can have a holiday after the exams."
"The exams are in half a month, but during this time, I don’t have to go to school," He Tiantian replied. "The students are reviewing and when exam time comes, I just need to go proctor."
"Good," Grandma Wang said. "Come, come, have a bowl of ginger tea, and take this time to rest well."
He Tiantian nodded and said, "Thank you, Grandma Wang. That’s what I was thinking."
With no need to go to school, He Tiantian had a lot of spare time and busied herself with the accounts.
The end of the year was approaching, and business was at its best; they were currently stocking up.
Just as He Tiantian was settling down, Huang Jingli came over, bubbling with excitement.
"Tiantian, I have some good news," Huang Jingli said with a smile; this news made her happier than making money at home.
He Tiantian asked curiously, "What good news? Are you pregnant again?"
"No way!" Huang Jingli laughed. "It’s that Lin Xiaoru was chased all over the school by Qi Zhenzhen, getting beaten up. Now almost everyone at their school knows that Lin Xiaoru has been seducing a married man."
He Tiantian smiled slightly, "No wonder you’re so happy!"
Huang Jingli gave a wry smile and said, "I’ve suffered a lot because of Lin Xiaoru. If I tell others, they might think I take pleasure in her misfortune and act like a petty person who’s pleased with themselves. I can only talk about it with someone like you who knows what Lin Xiaoru is really like. That woman deserves it. All she cares about is herself and never considers others’ feelings. Having done such malicious things, if heaven doesn’t take her, naturally someone else will."
"You’re right," He Tiantian said with a smile. "Make sure to keep your doors locked tight to keep her from troubling you again."
Huang Jingli smiled proudly, "Heh, I don’t think that’ll happen."
"Why not?" He Tiantian asked, puzzled. "A cornered dog will leap over a wall. Desperate, Lin Xiaoru is capable of doing anything."
"Heh, Lin Xiaoru has gone to do her internship," Huang Jingli chuckled. "She must have slept with some school official as she was assigned to a large enterprise in Nan City, it seems to even be a joint venture."
"Well, Lin Xiaoru is starting to work now, and soon she will be making money," He Tiantian stated. "Even though she is malicious, as long as she is living well, she’ll be eager to enjoy herself instead of taking revenge on others."
He Tiantian knew Lin Xiaoru well.
Just like back in Qijia Village, when Lin Xiaoru got a temp job in the county town and went off happily, no longer needing to work, she could dance and sing every day.
"Yes, you’re right," Huang Jingli said. "Initially, to get even, I thought about writing an anonymous report to get her fired, but you have a point. She’d just stick to us like a plaster. If she’s living well, she won’t care about anything else, just satisfying her own desires for eating, dressing, and having fun. She won’t bother going through the effort to trouble me."
"That’s the idea. Glad you understand," He Tiantian smiled. "By the way, how’s your business back home? Seems like you’re doing well."
"Yes, I’m working hard at it," Huang Jingli said with a smile. "During the day, I visit our temporary farm on the outskirts, check the accounts, and when I have free time, I read novels, books, and write a little."
He Tiantian, curious, asked, "What are you writing?"
"Hehe, nothing much, just a novel about life in the countryside," Huang Jingli laughed. "I want to use fiction to record everything I’ve heard and experienced. Even if it’s not published, when I get old, I can still take it out for amusement."
"Oh, sure, bring it to me sometime; maybe I could offer some advice!" He Tiantian suggested with a laugh. She had read a lot and had the ability to appreciate literature, even if she didn’t write.
