Chapter 796: Chapter 765: Looking Down Upon the World, Knowing Your Place_1

He Tiantian carefully prepared a gift, which was no ordinary gift but a wedding present for Cui Ying and Huashan.

It was a pair of couple’s watches.

Although they were not the expensive diamond-studded kind, they were exquisite and elegant. The men’s watch was slightly larger; the women’s, a bit smaller and daintier.

She had previously bought them at the Overseas Chinese Store. The price was reasonable, and they really were very nice, perfect for giving as gifts.

When Huo Yingjie saw He Tiantian put the two watches into a small box adorned with a ribbon, he asked, "Is this the wedding gift for Cui Ying and Huashan?"

"Yes!" He Tiantian nodded, "What do you think?"

"Quite nice," Huo Yingjie said. "Isn’t it too valuable?"

He Tiantian looked carefully again and said, "It’s okay, we bought it together at the Overseas Chinese Store, and it wasn’t expensive. Besides, they are getting married, we aren’t giving cash gifts, so the present shouldn’t be too shabby."

"Alright," Huo Yingjie nodded, "you decide."

In Huo Yingjie’s heart, although he could not say he disliked Cui Ying, Huashan, and those people, he didn’t particularly like them either. After all, no one likes someone who keeps sizing up their house and yard.

However, He Tiantian knew nothing about it.

Forget it, it’s better if she doesn’t know, lest she get scared upon finding out.

Huo Yingjie also wanted to probe the other party and find out what they were thinking.

When the time came, He Tiantian left the child with Grandma Wang and followed Huo Yingjie to Cui Ying and Huashan’s home.

After graduating from university, they had bought a pretty decent house not far from the museum. Although the house was not big, it was very complete with sufficient rooms, and they could move in just by buying some furniture.

At the entrance of the alley, they coincidentally ran into Qin Li and Yuan Chengcai.

"He Tiantian, what a coincidence, you’re also going to Cui Ying’s place, right?" Qin Li laughed, very excited to see He Tiantian.

He Tiantian nodded: "Yes, we are going to Cui Ying’s home. Seeing that you are together, I guess good things are approaching."

This was Cui Ying and Huashan’s belated wedding banquet. Qin Li bringing Yuan Chengcai meant that the two must have settled their relationship; otherwise, given the ordinary relationship between Yuan Chengcai and Cui Ying, he would not have been invited.

Qin Li blushed, glanced at Yuan Chengcai beside her, and said, "We... we just got engaged last month."

"Oh, congratulations!" He Tiantian laughed, "Let me know when you get married, and I’ll come to have a toast."

"Sure, we’ll definitely send you the invitation when the time comes," Yuan Chengcai laughed. He Tiantian was still so beautiful, just without fate between them. Maybe if he had met He Tiantian earlier, he could have ended up together with her.

Huo Yingjie sized up Yuan Chengcai and squinted slightly. That man’s eyes, as always, were dishonest.

He really wanted to gouge them out and replace them with dog’s eyes.

As they were talking, Huang Jingli and Wu Youliang arrived.

"Oh, why aren’t you going in? Are you standing here waiting for me?" Huang Jingli laughed, her complexion radiant from her good work and family life.

He Tiantian covered her mouth and laughed, "Yes, we are all waiting for you! Without Head Huang and Chief Wu’s presence, we wouldn’t dare to go in."

"Sweetie, I like what you said," Huang Jingli laughed, linking arms with He Tiantian, pulling Qin Li forward, and ignoring the three men’s mixed expressions of laughter and tears.

Seeing the women leaving, Wu Youliang sighed softly, "What to do with a scatterbrained wife!"

Huo Yingjie cast a glance at the lovey-dovey Wu Youliang and chuckled, "Stop showing off, who doesn’t know you’ve got yourself a good wife? No need to boast about it in such an ironic way in front of us."

"Exactly, Chief Wu." Yuan Chengcai said, "It’s fine to be secretly happy, but it’s not cool to make it so obvious."

"Hehe!" Wu Youliang laughed, "You guys caught me!"

"We’re not blind, how could we not notice, Chief Wu?" Huo Yingjie said disdainfully, "Come on, they’ve already gone ahead."

The three men had to follow.

Entering the yard, Cui Ying was talking with He Tiantian, Huang Jingli, and Qin Li.

"Come on, come on, take a seat inside," Cui Ying said. "Oh, let me introduce you, this is my father, and that’s my uncle. Dad, uncle, these are my classmates He Tiantian, Huang Jingli, Qin Li, and behind them are their partners, Huo Yingjie, Wu Youliang, Yuan Chengcai!"

Cui Yong looked at the group and cheerily said, "Hello everyone, to take time out of your busy schedules to come here is an honor for my daughter. You all chat, I’m going to see to the kitchen—there are still two dishes I haven’t made yet!"

"Dad, you don’t need to go. You and Brother Huashan entertain the guests in the yard," Cui Ying laughed, "Tiantian, Jingli, Qin Li, you guys have some tea first, it’ll be ready in a bit haha."

"Mhm, okay, you go ahead with your tasks, we can look after ourselves," He Tiantian said with a smile, letting Cui Ying go about her business, and soon she would help out too.

Upon hearing this, Cui Yong then invited everyone to sit and have some tea.

Cui Yong’s gaze couldn’t help but linger on Huo Yingjie a few times more, but he dared not to use his energy to probe, relying solely on his eyes.

In every move Huo Yingjie made, there was a sense of reserved dignity.

This kind of demeanor was not simply arrogance, but rather a kind of presence that towered above everything hidden within his actions.

To outsiders, Huo Yingjie appeared to be nothing more than a man of few words, or perhaps arrogant and reserved.

But Cui Yong didn’t think so after watching him.

Huo Yingjie looked up and glanced at Cui Yong.

For some reason, Cui Yong suddenly turned away, unable to maintain eye contact with Huo Yingjie.

At that moment, Cui Yong was absolutely certain that this was no ordinary man, but rather a hermit master of some sort.

Yet, the information he had gotten from his disciple and daughter suggested that Huo Yingjie was just an ordinary person, with no cultivation or anything special about him. Nevertheless, Huo Yingjie gave them an indescribable feeling.

Standing in front of Huo Yingjie felt as if he could see right into one’s soul.

Good, he’s sensible for not using his weak spiritual sense to probe him, otherwise, Huo wouldn’t have hesitated to retaliate.

Huashan was somewhat worried, but seeing that Huo Yingjie did not make any special moves, he felt slightly relieved.

The master was also all smiles, and everyone was getting along amicably—any issues could wait until they knew each other better in the future!

He Tiantian couldn’t sit still, so she went to the kitchen to help.

"Professor Cui, you can go out. I’ll help out," He Tiantian said with a smile, since sitting around wasn’t conducive to talking, they might as well help out.

Huang Jingli and Qin Li followed her into the kitchen.

Seeing several women arrive to help, Cui Heng could only say with a smile, "Then I’ll have to trouble you girls."

Cui Ying was not at all bashful, "Uncle, they’re all my classmates, we can chat and cook at the same time. With you here, we’re a bit uncomfortable!"

"Alright, then I won’t disturb you anymore." Cui Heng smiled and walked out.
