Chapter 789: The 758th Chapter Huo Yingjie Makes Big Money_1

The automotive factory project progressed methodically.

After half a month, all the terms were finally settled; as soon as the funds were in place, construction could begin.

Some vocational colleges had started relevant courses to train technicians for the automotive company.

The following period was dedicated to leisure and sightseeing.

This was arranged by the national authorities, and many citizens from Country M took a special train to tour several major attractions domestically.

He Jingyu, Bai Qiongyu, Qi Shuliang, and others were not interested in going, preferring to stay at home.

The main reason for their return was to spend time with family, not to travel for pleasure.

Qian Zhigao returned to Yanjing with his wife and child.

Qian Shikun and his wife, Mrs. Liao, invited He Tiantian, Huo Yingjie, and He Jingyu and his wife to be their guests.

He Jingyu conversed with Qian Shikun and Mrs. Liao, being well-acquainted with Qian Shikun, there was much to discuss. Having lived in Xiangjiang for many years, Wang Shuping had also been abroad for a few years, so they also had plenty to talk about.

Qian Zhigao asked his wife Xie Wanying to keep He Tiantian company and called Yingjie out for a chat.

Qian Zhigao took out a briefcase, which contained this year’s company accounts, and said, "Here’s the company’s ledger; you have a copy here, and I have another. In the first half of the year, thanks to the patent licensing of your video cassette, we have received a total of 1.5 million US dollars in patent fees."

"Only 1.5 million?" Yingjie was startled, "Why so little?"

"As it’s a new product, many are uncertain about its prospects and only wanted a one-year licensing agreement. Moreover, this is just for Country M and Xiangjiang; I’m sending people to negotiate in Europe," Qian Zhigao explained. "But I am very optimistic about your product. After this year, they will definitely want to extend the licensing period."

Yingjie nodded and said, "Next year, the licensing fee for just one year will be 800,000 US dollars for Xiangjiang, 5 million US dollars for the United States, 5 million for a selection of competitive companies in European countries, and as for Japan, 8 million."

Qian Zhigao, although optimistic about the patent, couldn’t dare to count on that much in licensing fees!

"That... that’s too high, isn’t it?" Qian Zhigao questioned, "I’m worried it won’t work..."

"It certainly will. Before, people could only watch on TV, but TV programming is fixed; you can’t just watch whatever you want. Especially movies, so if people want to watch movies, they can only go to cinemas—but cinemas only show the newest releases, making it difficult to watch older hits. If we could record those great old movies and shows onto video cassettes, buy a VCR, and then be able to rent or buy these tapes at any time, wouldn’t that be very cost-effective?"

After hearing this, Qian Zhigao indeed found it convincing.

"All right, I’ll try my best next year," Qian Zhigao said. "By the way, do we have upgraded products for our patent?"

"Yes!" Yingjie replied, "But for now, these are enough. Once the current hype dies down, I will release the new related upgraded patents."

"That’s great." Qian Zhigao suddenly felt confident, knowing that following Yingjie’s lead would bring greater achievements in the future.

Previously, he was just a law professor at Xiangjiang University, occasionally helping with legal cases, but he keenly sensed that patents would be a promising direction in the future. Meeting someone as talented as Yingjie, it was an instant match.

Although it had been hard work, the past half year was fulfilling.

"I’ll leave that in your hands," Yingjie said. "If there’s anything, you can contact Tiantian."

"I will," Qian Zhigao replied. "Once I return this time, I plan to quit my university teaching job and focus entirely on developing our business."

"That’s good, you won’t be disappointed," Yingjie assured. "I have some things on my side that I’ll sort out in a few days and then give to you. Manage them well, and I promise you’ll be a millionaire within three years."

"Then I thank you in advance," Qian Zhigao said, feeling more confident.

His wife’s family was a locally prominent clan. Although not the wealthiest, they were well-off. They had gone through many hardships before coming together. His father-in-law’s family looked down on him, and while this was a blow, thankfully, his marriage was strong.

He didn’t mind, suffering only one or two times a year, but he didn’t want his wife to feel aggrieved. Hence, he was prepared to take a gamble, to provide her with a rich material life and let her hold her head high before her family.

"Do you need me to transfer this money?" Qian Zhigao asked. "If not, I can wire it to Swiss Bank for future use."

"No need for now, just deposit it in the bank for me. Use Tiantian’s name instead of mine," Yingjie said with a wry smile—his current job was too troublesome.

But since resigning wasn’t an option, he had to keep enduring.

"Okay," Qian Zhigao said. "With the current economic climate improving, I’ve heard some people from Xiangjiang plan to set up factories in Mainland. It’s a great opportunity. Originally, I wanted to persuade my father-in-law and brother-in-law to set up a factory here, but it seems they’re quite pessimistic about the Mainland, so I didn’t bother mentioning it."

"Heh, that requires foresight," Yuejie said. "Some people may miss out on this chance if they’re not confident. But you can’t force a bull to drink. Doing well in your own ventures is what matters most."

"Exactly!" Qian Zhigao laughed. "That’s what I think too."

He had reminded his father-in-law’s family without holding past grudges, but if they didn’t listen, there was nothing he could do!

Having discussed their matters, they all had a pleasant day.

Back at home, He Tiantian saw that Yingjie had brought a briefcase full of ledgers.

"Brother Yingjie, what’s this ledger for?" He Tiantian inquired, noting it contained English and Chinese.

"Qian Zhigao gave it to me," Yingjie responded. "We now have an extra 1.5 million US dollars in cash."

"Oh my, that’s a lot!" He Tiantian exclaimed. She worked hard at her store all year and only made so much, but Yingjie had earned so much just from a patent.

"Not much, next year will be more," Yingjie stated. "I’ve saved it under your name. If you need money, I can ask Qian Zhigao to wire it to you."

He Tiantian hesitated, then waved her hands to refuse, "Not for now, that’s too much money; I’m afraid it’s not appropriate. Let’s wait a few more years."

"Okay," Yingjie nodded. "As you wish."

"Brother Yingjie, you’re amazing," He Tiantian praised. "It’s unbelievable how quickly our family has obtained so much money."

"There’s nothing unbelievable about it. There will be even more in the future, so you don’t need to worry about money or push yourself too hard," Yingjie said. "I’m here for everything!"
