Chapter 771: Chapter 740 New Favor_1

When Huo Zhekun and Jiang Lifang returned, the house became even livelier.

Since they didn’t know Huo Yingjie would come, the meal prepared was just a regular family dinner, nothing special.

"I have the day off tomorrow, I’ll prepare a big meal at home," He Tiantian said. "Dad, Mom, please come home early after work tomorrow afternoon."

"Alright, we will for sure." Jiang Lifang replied, feeling the joy and comfort of living with a daughter-in-law.

Jiang Lifang felt like she had gained some weight, but she had a grandson now, so it didn’t matter. As long as the food was good and tasty, it was fine.

In the evening, Grandma Wang wanted to take the two children out, but they were too excited because Dad was back, and didn’t want to leave.

"Grandma Wang, if the kids want to stay, let them be. Let Brother Yingjie tell them stories," He Tiantian said with a smile, also hoping that Huo Yingjie would spend more time with the kids.

Although she was extremely caring towards the children, a father also played a very important role in a child’s growth. Huo Yingjie couldn’t always be with them, so after his return, it was beneficial for the children’s development to have as much time with him as possible.

"Okay, I’ll head back first. You all should rest early, too," Grandma Wang said with a smile, not wanting to disturb the young couple.

After Grandma Wang left, He Tiantian washed up, changed into her pajamas, and played with the kids in the big bed.

"Dad, why aren’t you playing with me?" Huo Ruimin curiously asked when he saw his father was silent.

Huo Yingjie gave a wry smile. Why weren’t these kids asleep yet?

Now, he didn’t want to play with the kids; he wanted to play with their mom...

"Okay, Dad will play with you." Huo Yingjie withdrew his hands and started playing with the children.

After nine o’clock, the children started to feel sleepy and rubbed their eyes now and then.

"The kids are sleepy, it’s time for them to sleep," He Tiantian whispered, "Come on, let’s have a pee first!"

Now that the children were older, as long as they peed before bed, they wouldn’t wet the bed at night; upon waking up in the morning, they should immediately pee, or they would end up wetting the bed if it was too late.

After the children peed, He Tiantian lulled them to sleep, humming a melodious lullaby.

After the children fell asleep, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie moved them to their small beds.

The small bed had a mosquito net, the children wore pajamas, and inside, they had little undershirts on. Even if the small blankets were kicked off, they wouldn’t get cold or too hot; it was just right.

In winter, they put the children inside their bed because they were afraid the children would get cold.

After settling the kids, He Tiantian felt somewhat exhausted.

Huo Yingjie scooped up He Tiantian in a dominant princess carry and spun around the room.

He Tiantian was worried about waking the children, so she could only cover her own mouth.

"Be more gentle with your actions!" He Tiantian protested softly, "If you wake the children, you will lull them back to sleep!"

In the morning, when He Tiantian woke up, it was already past nine o’clock.

Huo Yingjie was outside playing with the children.

Realizing she had slept in again made He Tiantian’s face feel hot, but then she thought, being an old married couple, she should be used to this by now.

By the time He Tiantian got up, the two children were around her, speaking highly of their dad and singing his praises.

"Great, Dad is really amazing." He Tiantian agreed with the children’s praise towards Huo Yingjie.

Huo Yingjie smiled softly from the side.

Of course, he was amazing!

"There’s still some breakfast in the pot; I’ll warm it up for you." Huo Yingjie went into the kitchen, where there were steamed buns he had just bought, rice porridge, and some homemade side dishes.

He Tiantian was indeed hungry. She ate two bowls of rice porridge, four steamed buns, and a few snacks.

She ate even more than Huo Yingjie.

But He Tiantian consoled herself, reasoning that she had always had a big appetite, and she wasn’t afraid of Huo Yingjie making fun of her.

In reality, He Tiantian overthought it – he didn’t care about her appetite; she was just needlessly worried.

After breakfast, He Tiantian, Huo Yingjie, the family of four, along with Zhang Aijun and Yun Feng, visited Third Grandma Qi.

Passing by Sanfeng Bridge, He Tiantian picked up some newly introduced snacks.

Third Grandma Qi and Old Man Qi were very happy to see He Tiantian come over.

"It’s great that Yingjie has a day off," Third Grandma Qi said with a smile. "Tiantian, you’ve been working hard at home. You have to treat her well."

"I’ll remember that, Grandma Qi," Huo Yingjie replied; he intended to be the person who treasured He Tiantian the most.

"Let’s have lunch here; Grandpa Qi went fishing, and we’ll have fish at noon," Third Grandma Qi said. Although they didn’t have many familiar people around, the beautiful environment made it quite nice.

Upon hearing about fishing, the two children got excited and pleaded, "Dad, can you take us to watch the fishing?"

Huo Yingjie looked towards He Tiantian, seeking his wife’s consent.

Without He Tiantian’s agreement, he dared not go to the water’s edge alone.

"Just keep a close eye on them and don’t let them play with the water," He Tiantian instructed, feeling at ease with an adult supervising.

Previously, the two had sneaked off to the water’s edge, and if it hadn’t been for Little Rotating Turtle, they would have fallen in.

That time, He Tiantian had spanked their bottoms hard.

They cried loudly, but even the elders’ pleas didn’t work – a spanking was needed, a harsh one!

Since then, the two dared not go near the water’s edge anymore.

If they wanted to play with water, they would let Grandma Wang put some water in a big basin, and they would play with plastic ducks around it.

"Thank you, Mom, you’re really nice." Huo Ruimin kissed his mother on the cheek and followed his dad.

"I love Mom," Huo Ruihua added, not wanting to be outdone. After his sweet words, he cheerfully ran off.

Seeing the children’s joyous backs disappear outside the door, He Tiantian finally withdrew her gaze.

"Hehe, you’ve raised the two children very well," Third Grandma Qi commented. "I’ve said before you’d make a great mother, and you sure proved me right."

"I have learned from the best; you are the one who endured hardships first and the joy that followed," He Tiantian praised. "When I was fifteen and went to Qijia Village, all alone in the world, meeting you made me feel so close as if it was natural to want to be near you."

Third Grandma Qi smiled contentedly and replied, "That time I had fallen and was in so much pain I was about to pass out. If it hadn’t been for you, probably no one would have found me, and I may not have made it."
