Chapter 751: Chapter 720 Interrogation, The Purple Box_1

"Please take care of it, Lao Lian," He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie began packing up, and they left on the tenth day of the new year.

Before they left, Old Madam Huo asked in the living room in front of Song Chunli, "Tiantian, I saw you and Yingjie hurrying out these past few days. Have you run into some trouble?"

He Tiantian was slightly taken aback and replied, "Grandma, we’re fine, just felt that we’re going back soon and wanted to wander around Yanjing a bit!"

"Really no trouble?" Old Madam Huo was somewhat disbelieving.

"Really no trouble," He Tiantian said. "Just out for a stroll!"

Since the matter of the house was not settled yet, she didn’t want to speak of it to avoid making Old Madam Huo feel upset.

Song Chunli’s eyes flickered, and she laughed, "Hehe, I guess Tiantian has been looking at houses everywhere, probably hasn’t decided yet, so she doesn’t want to talk about it."

Upon hearing this, He Tiantian froze, somewhat suspicious whether Song Chunli had sent someone to follow them.

But then she thought it was impossible.

With Huo Yingjie there, those who tried to follow them had nowhere to hide.

"Great-aunt is joking, why would I go looking at houses for no reason!" He Tiantian countered, denying it.

"Your business is doing so well, you must be thinking of opening a shop in Yanjing too," Song Chunli shifted the topic to He Tiantian’s business. Jiang Lifang wasn’t there today, and she wanted to see how He Tiantian would respond.

"Hehe!" He Tiantian chuckled, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. So it was this issue, she thought they had found out about the courtyard house they bought.

"Oh, Tiantian, you really want to open a shop in Yanjing?" Song Chunli’s interest piqued. "Can great-aunt have a share too?"

"No, really, just out for a walk and didn’t look at houses or buy any shops," He Tiantian explained. "I’m already too busy with my shop in Nan City, where do I have the time to open another in Yanjing!"

Hearing He Tiantian say this, Song Chunli was somewhat disappointed. She wanted to open a shop but didn’t want to leave her job and feared it would impact Huo Zheqian’s career. Thus, despite having money, she dared not venture into business.

As for her daughter-in-law, she was a doctor who, besides treating patients, had no other skills, and Song Chunli had no expectations there.

Now that finally someone in the family was doing business, Song Chunli was somewhat eager.

"Ah, then forget it," Song Chunli nodded. "I was just saying! If you ever open a shop in Yanjing, be sure to tell great-aunt, and I’ll partner with you then."

He Tiantian smiled and nodded, "Okay!"

After all, they were family, and if they came to Yanjing to open a shop, it would be good to give Song Chunli some benefits. If those in public service aren’t short of money, they wouldn’t think about being corrupt, and could go further in their careers.

But He Tiantian wasn’t planning on opening a shop in Yanjing any time soon.

Seeing He Tiantian respond in such a way made Old Madam Huo very happy. The reason she didn’t stand in the way of her daughter-in-law took these considerations into account. She wasn’t worried about her second son’s household, but she did worry about the eldest son’s.

She knew it wasn’t good to feel this way, but had to admit that people’s hearts are biased, which is why she showed more care for the eldest son’s family who was always before her eyes. It wasn’t just because of the companionship but also because the eldest household lacked the capability of the second, and needed more oversight.

"We’re one family, we should discuss things properly," Old Madam Huo said, having thought He Tiantian would disagree, but surprisingly she agreed so easily.

This He Tiantian was indeed perceptive!

She looked very much like Jiang Lifang in her younger days; it’s no wonder Jiang Lifang is so fond of He Tiantian.

Without her mother-in-law around, how could He Tiantian possibly confront others head-on?

Furthermore, He Tiantian had no intention of getting rich by herself, just enough to make others envious.

The gap was too big, and that’s not good.

Back in the room, Huo Yingjie asked, "Did grandma and your eldest aunt say anything to you?"

He Tiantian shook her head and replied, "No, there’s nothing for them to talk about with me."

"Heh, even if you didn’t say it, I could guess," Huo Yingjie said. "Lately, our eldest aunt seems to have a big problem with us, probably because she’s jealous of our family making money."

"You know?" He Tiantian smiled sheepishly. Living with someone smart meant she couldn’t lie.

Because if she lied, she would be exposed.

"I do." Huo Yingjie chuckled. "Our store in Nan City is our own business; she can’t control that. But when we get to Yanjing, I suppose she’ll want a piece of the action. However, she doesn’t have much money, so she likely won’t invest much. When the time comes, you might agree to a shop collaboration but just in a single shop, not all Yanjing stores. This way, we can meet their needs and also protect our maximum interests."

"Yes, that’s what I was thinking," He Tiantian nodded. "Grandpa and grandma probably think the same."

"It’s just unfair to you," Huo Yingjie said. "If you don’t want to, you can ignore their wishes; after all, that’s your personal business, your dowry."

"Heh, it’s all been handled after we got married; it’s our shared property," He Tiantian smiled. "Actually, I don’t feel aggrieved. Although my eldest aunt can be a bit dishonorable, she’s not without principles. Moreover, our family has money while my eldest uncle’s family is poor, which will affect their future. Since we’re a family, the first and second branches, even if they split, should help each other."

Huo Yingjie smiled and hugged He Tiantian tightly. He was so lucky to have married such a wonderful wife.

The couple packed their belongings, and after breakfast the next day, they bid farewell to their elders and left.

Huo Yingjun personally saw them off on the train, and Grandma Wang was in good health, not bothered by travel sickness at all.

"Grandma, please have some tea." Once on the train, He Tiantian got some hot water for Grandma Wang to drink to warm up.

"Okay, thank you." Grandma Wang said, then after having some tea, she took out a small box from her bag. "This is something Old Madam Huo asked me to give you, Tiantian. Keep it safe."

Just as He Tiantian settled down, she was taken aback by Grandma Wang’s words, "Grandma, what’s inside this beautiful purple box?"

"I’m not sure, you’ll know when you open it," Grandma Wang said with a calm smile.

Remembering what the Old Madam had said, Grandma Wang grew even more fond of He Tiantian.

Such a kind-hearted girl, empathetic, who wouldn’t like her?

"If you’re curious, take a look," Huo Yingjie urged. "I also want to see what grandma has given you!"

Carefully opening the box, He Tiantian’s eyes lit up. Inside was a pair of pale purple jade bracelets, a rare shade inside.

"Ah?" He Tiantian exclaimed in surprise. "Oh my, they are so beautiful! This... this... it’s too valuable."

Grandma Wang also paused, then nodded: "Indeed, these are very valuable. They were part of Old Madam’s mother’s dowry, always kept by Old Madam and never willing to take them out. I never thought she would give them to Tiantian."

"Yes, why would grandma give me something?" He Tiantian was curious, looking at Grandma Wang for an answer.
