Chapter 726: Chapter 695: Confident, Holiday_1
Seeing his wife speak like this, Zhou Yuan Chao realized he had lost his composure.
"In fact, I knew it even without you saying!" Zhou Yuan Chao said with emotion, "You don’t want to leave your sister-in-law, don’t want to leave the kids..."
"Yes, I don’t want to," Huo Yingjie said with a bitter smile, "but I still have to leave..."
"Doesn’t your sister-in-law want to come here?" Zhou Yuan Chao asked. If you don’t want to leave, your sister-in-law could come over as well, then the family of four wouldn’t have to separate.
"No, as I said before, your older sister hasn’t graduated yet," Huo Yingjie didn’t want to give too many reasons, talking too much might make them feel uncomfortable.
"Oh," Zhou Yuan Chao said with a smile, "once the older sister graduates and brings the kids over, you all can be together again."
"We’ll see when the time comes," Huo Yingjie said. Who knows what will happen after a year?
Huo Yingjie looked up at the sky, his silhouette tinged with melancholy.
Upon returning home, Wang Ying and Zhou Yuan Chao went back together, while Huo Yingjie went into the room across, his own room.
After a simple wash, Huo Yingjie lay in bed, picked up a photograph to look at it carefully twice, kissed it once, and then went to sleep.
The next day, Huo Yingjie got up for a run, jogging around the track to work out his body.
No matter what, one needs to have a robust physique.
After the run, he went back to take a shower, ate in the cafeteria, and then headed to Chief Engineer Sun’s office.
Qian Miaomiao, hearing that Huo Yingjie had arrived, came to Chief Engineer Sun’s office along with Tang Xinliang.
"Boss, you finally arrived," Qian Miaomiao said excitedly, "we can work together again."
Qian Miaomiao was overly enthusiastic, and Huo Yingjie quickly stepped back.
He was already married, and she was already wed.
It was best to maintain some distance.
"Stop, stop, you’re already a mother, you can’t act like this," Huo Yingjie reminded her, although they were only colleagues, being too warm wasn’t good, especially with her husband right there.
"Boss, you’re just an old fuddy-duddy," Qian Miaomiao chuckled, "Tonight, I will invite Zhou Yuan Chao, Wang Ying, and you over to my house for dinner."
"Well, I’m naturally happy with a dinner invitation," Huo Yingjie said with a smile, not refusing the friendly gesture from a former colleague.
Tang Xinliang laughed and took hold of Qian Miaomiao, saying, "Alright, enough talk, we can talk over dinner tonight, let’s let the boss inside now. Chief Engineer Sun has been waiting, it’s important to discuss official matters first."
Qian Miaomiao laughed and said, "Hehe, almost delayed the boss’s business. Boss, we’ll go to work first, we can talk more at dinner tonight."
"Alright, see you tonight," Huo Yingjie nodded and walked into the office building to enter Chief Engineer Sun’s office.
Huo Yingjie knocked on the door and only entered after hearing a voice from inside.
"Yingjie, you’re here, please sit," Chief Engineer Sun said with a smile, a thick manila envelope on the desk.
As Huo Yingjie sat down, Chief Engineer Sun smiled, took out a document, and said, "Sign here, after you’ve signed, you can read it."
"Alright," Huo Yingjie nodded, took out a fountain pen from his pocket, and signed his name.
Then Chief Engineer Sun pushed the document in front of Huo Yingjie, saying, "Now you can read it!"
Huo Yingjie nodded, picked up the folder, opened it, and was somewhat surprised but also pleased, the research institute had already started researching this.
But come to think of it, that’s true; we can’t always be importing from others.
It’s expensive, and we can’t buy enough quantities; being at the mercy of others is no pleasant feeling.
"So that’s the one!" Huo Yingjie chuckled, "I have some calculations in mind, I have thought about it before, and producing special materials for engines should not be a difficult task!"
"Ah?" Chief Engineer Sun was startled, "Are you really confident?"
Huo Yingjie nodded.
"How much time would that approximately require?" Chief Engineer Sun asked. According to the plan, the higher-ups had set a deadline of one and a half years.
Huo Yingjie chuckled and said, "About seven to eight months."
"Seven to eight months?" Chief Engineer Sun was taken aback, that’s half the time budgeted, "Are you really sure?"
"I’m sure!" Huo Yingjie chuckled again, and then looking at the project deadline smiled, "The deadline is one and a half years. If I can finish it early, could I use the remaining time as my vacation?"
Chief Engineer Sun was taken aback again and said with a wry smile, "To complete the task without thinking about the honors and rewards, you’re actually thinking about a vacation."
"I can’t help it; my wife and child aren’t by my side, it’s really weighing on my mind!" Huo Yingjie spread his hands, looking dejected.
Even though Chief Engineer Sun was the highest leader of the Nan City Research Institute, he couldn’t just approve a seven or eight-month vacation in one go.
"Okay, you start working, and when the time comes, I’ll naturally give you a long break. But, I can say with certainty, unless there is a special circumstance, there won’t be a vacation as long as seven to eight months, something more like two or three months is probable," Chief Engineer Sun said straightforwardly to avoid future grievances with Huo Yingjie over insufficient vacation time.
Huo Yingjie chuckled and nodded, "Alright, noted. Now that I’ve taken on the project, what about the staffing?"
"Zhou Yuanchao, Tang Xinliang, Qian Miaomiao, and two young people who were assigned, Wu Hao and Qian Feng," Chief Engineer Sun said, "If you run into difficulty, you can discuss it with the Materials Department!"
Huo Yingjie nodded and responded, "Great, they’re all old acquaintances; no need for acclimatization."
"Hmm, help me to properly train those two newcomers," Chief Engineer Sun said, "The older generation of researchers will retire sooner or later. You guys of your generation must strive to step up!"
"Yes, Chief Engineer Sun," Huo Yingjie nodded, understanding that the new waves will always push the old ones forward, an unchanging principle.
Without newcomers, the Nan City Research Institute would eventually be phased out.
"Alright then, Xiao Zhang will take you to your office," Chief Engineer Sun said, "Work hard!"
"I will," Huo Yingjie nodded, rose to his feet, bowed respectfully to Chief Engineer Sun, and then left.
Huo Yingjie’s office was in a sunlit room on the second floor.
The office was spacious, consisting of two large rooms, furnished with some magazines and books; on the large desk, there were many files.
On the wall behind, there was a very large safe.
Huo Yingjie opened the window to let the office air out, then walked over to his desk and began to look over the documents.
They were all from special departments that had collected some foreign materials through various channels.
Although not very detailed, they did outline some information about advanced engine materials from abroad, especially Germany, the United States, and Japan.
Through their research and development, these countries had moved to the forefront.
Huo Yingjie, while feeling the weight of his task, did not find it difficult; it was within his capabilities.
Having reviewed the information, Huo Yingjie already had a preliminary idea in mind for materials - low cost yet high quality.
He took out a stack of drafting paper from the drawer and began to write and draw methodically, with complex and precise chemical formulas emerging from his pen onto the pristine white paper.
