Chapter 724: Chapter 693: Strange, Graduation Thesis_1

Seeing a good brother lifted his spirits!

"Hehe, didn’t you say you were going to Chief Engineer Sun’s? Go call your wife, let’s head over now," Huo Yingjie said. He had already prepared some gifts, just right for giving to Chief Engineer Sun and Aunt Li in a gesture of goodwill.

"Sure!" Zhou Yuan Chao said happily, "Let’s go now."

Zhou Yuan Chao went across to knock on the door, and Wang Ying, holding her things, came out from inside.

Huo Yingjie was carrying a large bag of pastries, including both Western-style and Chinese-style treats, among which were Xinghua Building’s furong cakes.

Along the way, Zhou Yuanchao kept introducing the situation of the research institute to Huo Yingjie.

Huo Yingjie listened while asking some minor questions to better understand the situation here.

She had heard from her husband before that his relationship with Huo Yingjie was good, but she hadn’t expected it to be this good!

Ever since Huo Yingjie arrived, her husband Zhou Yuanchao had barely glanced at her.

Fortunately, Huo Yingjie was already married, otherwise... she might get the wrong idea.

Once at Chief Engineer Sun’s house, Aunt Li was cooking, and it was Chief Engineer Sun who personally answered the door.

"Chief Engineer Sun, hello," Huo Yingjie approached and respectfully gave his salutations, facing a well-respected senior deserving of honor.

Chief Engineer Sun smiled kindly, "Come in, come in. No need to bring anything!"

Wang Ying stepped forward, confidently helping with pouring tea and laughing, "Chief Engineer Sun, this is the dried radish I prepared myself. Cut some in the morning and mix it with rice porridge—it’s especially appetizing."

"Good, Aunt Li and I both love the dried radish you make," Chief Engineer Sun responded with a smile, the gifts were trivial, it was the thought that mattered.

Huo Yingjie and Zhou Yuanchao took their seats.

Huo Yingjie took out some pastries from his bag, placed them on a plate, and said, "These are from my wife’s bakery. They’re really tasty, so I brought some over."

"Great, let me try," Chief Engineer Sun picked up a piece of butterfly pastry, took a bite, "Mmm, it’s good, very nice. Aunt Li will definitely like it too."

"If she likes it, I’ll have her send more next time," Huo Yingjie laughed. Having not returned for over three years, he felt somewhat guilty in front of Chief Engineer Sun’s amiable demeanour.

"Hehe, that I won’t refuse," Chief Engineer Sun chuckled, "I’ll be honest with you, the transfer orders you received this time have nothing to do with me."

"It wasn’t you, sir?" Huo Yingjie was surprised, "Then who was it?"

Within the Weapons Research Institute, besides Chief Engineer Sun, Zhou Yuanchao was the one constantly wishing for his return. There shouldn’t be anyone else, right?

Chief Engineer Sun shook his head, "I’m not sure either. When I received the letter, it was around the same time you got your transfer orders. I do hope for your return, but I was thinking after your university graduation, not now."

"If not you, who else could it be?" Huo Yingjie felt puzzled. Normally he could deduce such things, but being bound by the constraints of Heavenly Dao, he couldn’t see his own fortune clearly nor make accurate predictions.

"I’m looking into it for you!" Chief Engineer Sun said, "But don’t worry, this person likely bears no ill will. If someone wanted to target you, they could have transferred you to a remote research institute, not back to your old unit."

Huo Yingjie thought it made sense. The Huo family was now in a period of rapid and steady development, particularly with his father emerging as a dark horse. With his father and grandfather present, he was comfortably positioned as a third-generation beneficiary of their status!

However, some people just couldn’t stand to see him living at ease, probably wishing to put him through his paces and prepare him to inherit the Huo family’s enterprise.

That was something for later!

"Then I’ll trouble you, Chief Engineer Sun," Huo Yingjie said with a smile, "After two years at university, I wonder if I can get a graduation certificate?"

"Don’t worry about it. I will communicate with your university. Your project involvement can count as your graduation thesis, and we’ll definitely get you your graduation certificate," Chief Engineer Sun assured, though the certificate wasn’t a magic bullet, having attended university without receiving a diploma would be a pity.

Zhou Yuanchao was taken aback and asked, "Our project subjects are confidential. Wouldn’t using them as a graduation thesis breach confidentiality rules?"

"Hehe," Chief Engineer Sun laughed, "Of course, I won’t disclose secrets. Ah, when thinking about problems, can’t you consider a different way of thinking? If the thesis can’t be released, then I can become Yingjie’s thesis advisor!"

"Ah!" Zhou Yuanchao was startled, "That’s possible?"

"Of course, it’s possible!" Chief Engineer Sun said, "I spent two years teaching at Nan City University. A letter sent there to restore my teaching status will allow me to supervise Huo Yingjie."

"Hehe, so that’s how it is!" Zhou Yuanchao laughed, "Then could I possibly earn a university certificate here through self-study?"

"Technically not, but in the future, there may be options for those who are already working and wish to improve themselves. Then, you could give it a try," Chief Engineer Sun stated. Previously, he had encouraged Zhou Yuanchao to attend university, but the young man had declined. Now that he was interested again, with a family and a stable job, he didn’t have time to pursue education.

"I’ll count on you then, Chief Engineer Sun," Zhou Yuanchao said, "Seeing the Boss become a university graduate makes me a bit envious."

"When I told you to go before, you wouldn’t, and now you regret it, right?" Chief Engineer Sun chuckled, "If you really want, it’s still possible, I’ll keep your job for you..."

"No thanks, having to go to school every day? I don’t have the patience for that," Zhou Yuanchao pleaded off. If it wasn’t possible, then so be it; he didn’t plan on attending university.

"Hehe, just go on being lazy," Chief Engineer Sun smiled, then turned to Huo Yingjie, "Yingjie, how was your university experience? Did you gain anything?"

Huo Yingjie grinned, "As for gains, in terms of knowledge, not much that I didn’t already know."

"Boss, then didn’t you waste two years?" Zhou Yuanchao exclaimed, puzzled. If he hadn’t learned anything new, why bother attending university at all, wasting time!

He guessed rightly; the Boss was simply too content with his life of leisure to care.

"Hehe, not learning anything new doesn’t mean there weren’t gains," Huo Yingjie chuckled, "These two years, my mindset for problem-solving has evolved quite a bit. I have new ideas for some research projects, and being abroad let me access foreign science journals. Although the information was vague, it gave me a lot to ponder, and I believe it will be very useful in my future work."

"Hmm! We’ll see how you perform," Chief Engineer Sun looked forward to Huo Yingjie’s future, acknowledging that although Zhou Yuanchao had also grown considerably, his innate talent and his way of thinking had certain limitations.

However, whether it’s talent or leadership, analytical abilities or intellect, Huo Yingjie was top-notch.

Such a person is naturally born to be in scientific research,

Any other profession would be a waste, waste, waste...

Important things are worth stating three times.
