Chapter 702: Chapter 671 Sanfeng Bridge, Raw Material_1

Bai Qiongyu had previously opened an account for He Tiantian in Xiangjiang, hoping that Tiantian would go there to study.

However, Tiantian didn’t go, so the money inside remained untouched and unused.

Tiantian felt very conflicted whenever she received money from her grandmother, as she had not accepted her grandmother’s plans.

On one hand, her grandmother’s money allowed her to live a comfortable life; on the other hand, Tiantian felt guilty for not considering her grandmother’s feelings for her own sake.

In her past life, Tiantian was only a woman who ran a marinated meat shop and was unaware of the real estate prices in Xiangjiang.

Tiantian might not have known, but Huo Yingjie did.

Huo Yingjie found the current map of Xiangjiang and marked two places, despite having never visited. He then sent a telegram to the branch office in Xiangjiang to have their agent help purchase some properties.

The branch office agent in Xiangjiang was competent and quickly completed the purchase for a total of 250,000 RMB.

Seeing that Tiantian was sincere, Old Master Chen sent a telegram to his son to check on the real estate. After confirmation from his son, he went with Tiantian to transfer the property titles.

Soon, Tiantian obtained the property deeds for three properties and signed an exchange contract with Old Master Chen.

To ensure clear ownership, the exchange contract was very comprehensive, with four copies made: one for Tiantian, one for Old Master Chen, one for the real estate bureau in Nan City, and one for the real estate department in Xiangjiang.

Originally, Tiantian hadn’t thought of this, but it was suggested by a lawyer from the branch office in Xiangjiang to avoid any future trouble.

Considering her father-in-law’s work and Huo Yingjie’s job nature, Tiantian accepted this suggestion.

Though it was troublesome at the beginning, it saved future hassles, which was better.

Within a month, back and forth, the transaction between Tiantian and Old Master Chen was completed.

After one last look at the old Chen family house, Old Master Chen said, "I ask that you take good care of these houses in the future."

"I will," Tiantian promised. "Old Master, the residential and commercial properties I exchanged with you in Xiangjiang may not be very expensive now, but as Xiangjiang develops rapidly, as long as you hold onto them, they will greatly appreciate in value."

Old Master Chen nodded and replied, "I will, thank you. The location of that shop is good, and the monthly rent of a few thousand RMB is enough for my living expenses in Xiangjiang. Most of the old furniture was taken, only a few pieces remain, which I am giving to you."

"Thank you," Tiantian said. "When will you be leaving, so I can see you off?"

"There’s no need," Old Master Chen replied. "I can’t carry so much luggage alone, so I’ve already shipped it; there’s just a few small items I can carry myself. You’re all very busy, so there’s no need to trouble you to send me off."

"Then, Old Master, I wish you a smooth journey," Tiantian said with a smile, hoping the elderly man could spend his twilight years peacefully in Xiangjiang.

Old Master Chen then took out three sets of keys and said, "These are the keys to the three places, which I’m handing over to you."

Old Master Chen was very reluctant to part with them but staying here alone, guarding the huge house, was pointless.

"Thank you!" Tiantian took the keys, ready to start renovation work the next day.

Having acquired the three properties, Tiantian was very excited.

Aside from the appreciation of the properties’ value, she would soon start a business that would bring her wealth.

She was determined to work hard!

Qian Shikun, who was renovating his own home and familiar with building materials, came over to help renovate the new store.

There were eight shops in total, and Tiantian did not want to replace the quaint wooden doors, so she had them repainted, which made them look brand new. The cabinets for displaying marinated meats were all glass, allowing customers to see but not touch the food, ensuring hygiene.

Several large Chinese knots hung on the walls and some imitation landscape paintings were placed on the back wall.

"Brother Yingjie, what do you think we should call our store?" Tiantian asked with a smile. "It needs to be memorable and carry some significance."

After some thought, Huo Yingjie suggested, "The shop is right beside Sanfeng Bridge, why not just call it Sanfeng Bridge?"

Tiantian’s eyes lit up, and she murmured to herself, "Sanfeng Bridge? Sanfeng Bridge? That’s a good name. I remember my grandfather saying that Sanfeng Bridge has over a thousand years of history. Almost everyone in Nan City knows of this place. With this name, everyone will know our store’s location, and it does sound nice."

"Yeah!" Huo Yingjie chuckled. "Not only does it sound nice, but it also has historical significance."

"All right, let’s go with Sanfeng Bridge," Tiantian decided. "Now that we have a name, let’s move on to the branding. Brother Yingjie, can you help me come up with a nice-looking trademark? I want it to be printed on our packaging paper and bags in the future."

"Sure, no problem," Huo Yingjie readily agreed. He couldn’t help with financial matters, but this kind of task was doable.

Tiantian made another tick in her notebook.

Marks were for completed tasks; unmarked items were still pending, especially the raw materials.

Although the market had liberalized and people were allowed to trade freely after fulfilling their public grain quota, there weren’t many meat vendors. If they kept procuring meat from the supply and marketing cooperative, the high price and limited quantity would affect future development.

Huo Yingjie had already sketched three flying phoenixes in different poses using a pencil. The design wasn’t complicated but captured the elegance and nobility of the phoenixes.

"What do you think?" Yingjie asked. "Three red phoenixes."

Tiantian’s eyes brightened, and she nodded, "That’s great! I’m very satisfied; Brother Yingjie is truly amazing."

"What are you thinking about?" Yingjie inquired. "You’ve been frowning."

"I’m thinking about the raw materials," Tiantian responded. "Should we procure them from rural suppliers or buy from the supply and marketing cooperative?"

Huo Yingjie nodded and said, "Since we’re just starting, profit is secondary; stability is a must. How about this: secure a portion of the meat from the cooperative, and procure another portion from the countryside. This way, if one source has issues or isn’t able to supply enough, it won’t force us to close the shop."

"Hmm, that’s a good idea," Tiantian agreed. "By the way, Wu Youliang’s mother farms at home, and their family lives in the suburbs of the county town below. We could encourage them to raise chickens, ducks, and geese, and we could purchase all of them!"

Huo Yingjie laughed and said, "You’re just thinking of this now? Wu Youliang and Huang Jingli decided to start raising livestock last year after hearing we wanted to open a marinade shop. They’ve raised eight pigs and plan to get two hundred chickens in the spring! His father has also retired, and since he used to manage fisheries, he contracted a large fish pond in the village. I reckon they’ll produce a lot this year."
