Chapter 682: Chapter 651 I thought of Snake King..._1

The summer brought plentiful rain.

It would rain every two or three days, and twice He Tiantian was caught in the rain while out playing with the kids.

Fortunately, they hadn’t ventured out today to face such heavy rain.

Both children lay on their bamboo mats fast asleep, little blankets covering their bellies.

Through the window, He Tiantian watched the pouring rain outside with an inexplicable sense of joy.

This puzzled He Tiantian quite a bit, what was there to be happy about in the rains? She used to hate rainy days, the ground would get sticky, and her shoes would be soiled the moment she stepped outside.

He Tiantian stood up, drawn to the door as if by some force, held back the impulse to dash into the cascade, and simply stretched out both hands.

Upon touching the rain, He Tiantian felt an indescribable sense of comfort that made her reluctant to pull her hands back.

Somehow, every time she saw water, her heart would overflow with happiness.

But in the past, this feeling wasn’t so prominent, it only became noticeable at certain moments, and those moments were few and far between.

Huo Yingjie, holding an umbrella and carrying a thermos, stepped inside from the rain and spotted He Tiantian playing with water with a face full of joy.

"Aren’t you cold?" Huo Yingjie asked, astonished, as he set down the thermos and closed the umbrella.

"Not cold!" He Tiantian replied, "Not cold at all!"

Even if she wasn’t cold, Huo Yingjie still got a towel and wiped He Tiantian’s hands.

"Alright, you’re an adult now, how can you be more playful than Ruimin, sneaking around to play with water." Huo Yingjie said softly, carefully wiping her hands and then applying some moisturizer.

He Tiantian felt a little reluctant, but she also knew it wasn’t right.

If the kids were to see her and imitate her, playing in the water whenever it rained, that wouldn’t be good.

"Brother Yingjie, I don’t know why, but I really love water," He Tiantian whispered, "As long as it’s clean and clear, it always lifts my spirits to see it, to touch it with my hands."

"Heh!" Huo Yingjie chuckled, "I’ve noticed that. In the cave, you seemed to really enjoy the water as well..."

At those words, He Tiantian glared at Huo Yingjie and chastised him, "Don’t talk nonsense... It’s all because you were causing trouble..."

"Haha!" Huo Yingjie laughed loudly, knowing that in the water, his wife looked even more enchanting and lovely.

No more talk, for if he went on, he’d be the one at a disadvantage later.

He Tiantian might appear very gentle, but inside her dwelt a little wild cat that could lash out unpredictably, scratching painfully when provoked.

He Tiantian would grumble about this from time to time, especially on rainy days.

Initially, Huo Yingjie didn’t take it seriously, but gradually he sensed that something was amiss.

It wasn’t until one day at Xuanwu Lake, when a child fell into the water.

Without a second thought, He Tiantian leaped into the lake, swimming with astonishing speed. In just a few seconds, she reached the child and pulled them to safety.

Huo Yingjie was dumbfounded; he had just been about to dive in to rescue the child himself.

He knew that He Tiantian could swim, but he had not expected her dog paddle to be so fast!

"Thank you so much, we can’t thank you enough. Neither my husband nor I can swim. If it weren’t for you, my child would have been gone," the grateful woman said, clutching her child. "Can you leave your address or place of work? I would like to send you a banner of thanks."

"There’s no need," Huo Yingjie said, wrapping the child’s thin blanket around his wife, "We should hurry home."

"Ah, ah..." the woman persisted with her questions.

He Tiantian turned her head and said, "Hurry and take her to the hospital to get checked out! We were just lending a hand."

When they got home, Huo Yingjie’s face was dark, and he hadn’t spoken a word to He Tiantian on the way.

He Tiantian rolled her eyes, stuck out her tongue, and made faces behind Huo Yingjie’s back.

Without guessing, it was clear that Brother Yingjie was angry.

"Brother Yingjie, I’m sorry." He Tiantian decided to apologize first. Saving someone was tough, exhausting, dangerous work, which should have been done by him, Huo Yingjie.

She should just be a quiet and beautiful young wife!

"You think you’re so capable, how could you make a mistake!" Huo Yingjie muttered grumpily. Jumping in so quickly without even warming up, even if you can swim, you could cramp up!

He Tiantian giggled sheepishly and said, "Next time, let Brother Yingjie be the one to save people, okay?"

"I never scold you for doing good deeds, but why don’t you think more about yourself? Don’t you think about me and the children? Jumping into the water without warming up, what if you’d cramped up? What if you’d gotten tangled in the weeds?" Huo Yingjie questioned her. He had to be stern with He Tiantian for not taking care of herself.

He Tiantian’s head lowered further, looking like she had indeed made a serious mistake.

"I was wrong, and it won’t happen again." He Tiantian said. "Actually, I don’t know what happened to me, I heard cries for help and jumped in without thinking. I wasn’t like this before. And the moment I hit the water, I felt even lighter than on land, like all the muscles in my body were stretching out."

Huo Yingjie half-believed her and queried, "Really?"

"Really, husband, I’m not lying to you. Now when I think about the refreshing feeling of entering the water, I want to go swimming again." He Tiantian hurriedly explained, even though it sounded a bit fantastical, that feeling was real.

Huo Yingjie fell into thought, and after a while, seeing that the two children had fallen asleep beside them, he finally made up his mind and said, "Let’s go, I want to see what’s really going on under the cover of darkness."

"Go where?" He Tiantian was surprised, "It’s about to get dark outside, even if we go out, we should have dinner first before leaving!"

"Hmm, then let’s have dinner first." Huo Yingjie nodded.

After dinner, Huo Yingjie left the children with Grandma Wang, as they had something to take care of outside.

Arriving at the edge of Xuanwu Lake, a cool breeze off the lake hit their faces, particularly refreshing.

He Tiantian squinted her eyes, a look of complete enjoyment on her face.

"Yes, that’s the feeling!" He Tiantian said, "I really want to go swimming!"

Huo Yingjie nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll join you."

Like a mermaid, He Tiantian jumped into the water and swam back and forth a few times.

Huo Yingjie frowned. After a while, he noticed that there were two tear-shaped, crystal-clear things in the palm of He Tiantian’s hand.

This seemed familiar. Where had he seen it before?

But Huo Yingjie couldn’t recall at that moment.

Only when He Tiantian had had her fill of swimming did she emerge from the water, took the blanket from Huo Yingjie’s hand, wrapped it around herself, and then changed into dry clothes.

"Brother Yingjie, what are you thinking about?" He Tiantian was cheerful, and her mood was extraordinarily blissful.

"When you were merrily swimming around in the water, what did you think of?" Yingjie asked. He seemed to have a faint guess but wasn’t certain yet.

Without a second thought, He Tiantian said, "I remembered the Snake King..."

Hearing this, Huo Yingjie’s brows furrowed tightly.

"Of course, I also thought about my husband!" He Tiantian extended her hand, "And about the kids..."
