Chapter 673: Chapter 642: The Old Place, Wild and Free_1

Who else could she trust other than Huo Yingjie?

This was their secret, one that others might not believe even if she told them.

"Actually, I wanted to take a look at that cave today, but with Da Niu around, it wasn’t convenient to bring her. There are tools I’ve used before, and I’m afraid they would arouse her suspicion," He Tiantian whispered, a place filled with too many memories.

When happy, she would go there to have heart-to-hearts with the Snake King and express her joy.

When unhappy or faced with hardships, He Tiantian would consult with the Snake King for solutions. In that place, she had room to be alone and reflect without fear of outsiders seeing her true feelings. It was very safe.

"If you want to go, I can take you there," Huo Yingjie said with a smile. Rather than letting her dwell on it, he thought it better to take her there for a visit, so she wouldn’t keep thinking about it.

He Tiantian sneaked a glance at Huo Yingjie, and seeing no hint of jealousy, she breathed a sigh of relief and asked quietly, "Really? We can go?"

Huo Yingjie could be somewhat petty at times, and He Tiantian worried that he might get jealous!

"Of course!" said Huo Yingjie. "Little Rotating Turtle is here to watch the children, and I’ve set up a barrier so no one will come near. We can leave."

Hearing this, He Tiantian was overjoyed and said, "Brother Yingjie, you are so kind!"

Huo Yingjie chuckled, "As long as you want it, I will fulfill your wish, no matter what it is."

Although Huo Yingjie often got jealous in daily life, it was just a playful part of their life. Deep down, he truly trusted He Tiantian.

Trust is the most important thing between spouses. With mutual loyalty and love, other conflicts can be resolved.

"Alright, let’s go then," said He Tiantian. She wanted to see the cave that held many of her youthful memories.

Discovering the cave had brought convenience to her life, and it also provided the Snake King with a place to cultivate.

"Alright!" Huo Yingjie nodded, then summoned Little Rotating Turtle to guard the children, while he set up the barrier to prevent any person or animal from approaching.

Even Little Rotating Turtle was tasked with protecting Huo Ruimin and Huo Ruihua outside the barrier.

Huo Yingjie and He Tiantian took advantage of the moonlight and headed to the cave in the back mountain.

Their pace was quick and in no time, they arrived at the cave in the back mountain. Not far off, they could see the cabin guarding the Peach Orchard.

"Let’s go in," Huo Yingjie said, opening the barrier and entering the cave with He Tiantian.

As He Tiantian stepped in, it looked the same as the last time she had been there, unchanged.

It wasn’t exactly unchanged. The sour date tree had grown even sturdier, its branches laden with unripe green dates.

Perhaps because the soil here was fertile, that sour date tree was particularly robust and heavy with fruit.

"Brother Yingjie, will this sour date tree be ripe in a month?" asked He Tiantian, swallowing, as she thought of the delicious taste of fresh sour dates, especially the ones from this tree.

Huo Yingjie chuckled, "It should be. You see, some of them are already blushing. They’ll be ripe soon."

"That’s great, then. I want to pick all the sour dates from this tree," He Tiantian stated. "But how do we carry them away?"

Huo Yingjie laughed and said, "Heh, after that Little Spirit Snake left, the space at your ankle is still there. You can fit quite a bit in it."

"What?" He Tiantian was stunned. "Oh my, how come I didn’t know about this? Brother Yingjie, if you knew, why didn’t you tell me?"

If she were traveling alone with Brother Yingjie, she could have easily stored all sorts of things in the space at her ankle!

"There’s no need usually, so why mention it?" Huo Yingjie said with an awkward smile, absolutely not admitting that previously he was petty, didn’t want He Tiantian to remember the Little Spirit Snake, and even less wanted her to keep using the things the Little Spirit Snake had left behind.

He mentioned it now because they were married, their relationship was solid, and their family was warm.

And in He Tiantian’s heart, the Little Spirit Snake was a benefactor, a friend.

As her husband, Huo Yingjie naturally was no longer petty.

"Fine," He Tiantian said, not convinced, her suspicious eyes accusing Huo Yingjie.

Huo Yingjie looked embarrassed and turned to gaze elsewhere.

He Tiantian busied herself looking around the cave and didn’t dwell on the matter.

In the corner of the cave, there were tools she had used and some spears left behind by tomb robbers. The water in the pool was ice-cold, with a spring bubbling up and flowing into the Dark River.

"The water here is still so clear," He Tiantian remarked nostalgically. "It wasn’t so cold before. I’ve taken baths in it!"

"Baths?" Huo Yingjie’s eyes lit up with interest—it seemed like a good idea.

So Huo Yingjie cast a spell, slowly warming the water.

"Actually, you could take a dip now," Huo Yingjie said, testing the water’s temperature with his hand. "It’s warm now. Just need to stir it a bit and it’ll be ready."

He Tiantian was tempted, but with Huo Yingjie by her side—though they were married—she didn’t want to be so unreservedly open. It was too embarrassing.

"Let’s not," He Tiantian shook her head and took a step back.

In Huo Yingjie’s eyes shone the light of eager curiosity.

Because of the presence of children by their side, he had always been restrained and couldn’t fully enjoy their time together.

Now, with the rare opportunity to be alone in such a quiet place, he certainly wouldn’t pass it up.

When He Tiantian woke up, it was already past nine in the morning the next day.

Oh no, she had overslept. What about the children?

He Tiantian scanned the surroundings. The house was silent, but outside, the sounds of adults playing with children could be heard.

Only after He Tiantian sighed with relief did she feel the soreness in her body and promptly remembered everything from the previous night.

He Tiantian’s face flushed with heat. Rubbing her face, she decided to get up—no more lounging in bed.
