Chapter 634: Chapter 603: Self-introduction, Toilet_1
He Tiantian didn’t understand the world of a top student, but she insisted that if she was going to learn something, she should learn it diligently and achieve excellent results. Otherwise, she shouldn’t bother learning at all to avoid wasting time.
However, the man was currently fuming, so she decided to be on her best behavior.
"Brother Yingjie, I’ve missed you," He Tiantian whispered.
In the future, he should just tell her what’s on his mind directly, so he wouldn’t be the only one getting angry, completely unaware of this little woman’s obliviousness.
Even when she realized, it was always after the fact.
The two of them fell asleep in each other’s arms.
In the middle of the night, when the child cried, He Tiantian got up groggily to nurse the baby. Huo Yingjie woke up to change the baby’s diaper. Working together, they were a well-oiled team.
Having eaten and drunk their fill, the two little ones fell asleep.
Only then could the couple go back to sleep.
Even though they were tired from the night’s efforts, the young couple still looked energetic in the morning.
Huo Yingjie took care of the child while He Tiantian cooked.
After they had eaten, they left the child with Grandma Wang, and Huo Yingjie rode his bicycle to school with He Tiantian.
He Tiantian’s home wasn’t far from Nan City University, a twenty-minute bike ride away.
Upon arriving at the university, Huo Yingjie dropped He Tiantian off at the Chinese Department before heading to the Chemistry Department.
Entering the classroom, He Tiantian looked up, searching for familiar faces.
He Tiantian was wearing a white blouse with blue straight-leg pants and white leather sandals on her feet. Her long hair was tied in a high ponytail, the tips curling slightly. Her face was fair with a rosy hue, and her big eyes sparkled.
Since He Tiantian had gone home after registering, she wasn’t familiar with the other students in her class. Many of them were seeing He Tiantian for the first time and couldn’t take their eyes off her.
"Tiantian, over here!" Huang Jingli waved, signaling for He Tiantian to come sit by her, where she had saved a spot.
When He Tiantian heard Huang Jingli’s voice, she smiled gently, quieting the classroom instantly.
The girls envied He Tiantian’s beauty, while the boys widened their eyes, hoping their gazes would attract her attention.
"Okay, I’m coming," He Tiantian said with a smile, walking towards Huang Jingli and sitting in the spot reserved for her.
She had wanted to talk to Huang Jingli and Cui Ying about things at the school, but then Teacher Chen, the class advisor, arrived.
The classroom was quiet, and Teacher Chen mistakenly thought it was because of his own presence, which pleased him greatly.
"Today is our first class, and I am your class advisor, Teacher Chen. I will be teaching you Chinese," Teacher Chen said. "We come from all over, unfamiliar with one another. For today, we won’t have a formal lesson; instead, let’s take some time to get to know each other."
"Now, starting with the first student, come up and introduce yourself," Teacher Chen said. In university, it wasn’t just academic knowledge that mattered, but also students’ emotional intelligence and practical abilities were to be nurtured.
Everyone introduced themselves one by one. Unless someone was particularly memorable, their introduction alone wouldn’t leave a lasting impression on the rest.
For example, one student had a particularly strange name. His surname was Ma, and his given name was Tong, which together sounded like "toilet" in Chinese.
Even thinking about the name made one feel there was an odd smell to it.
As a result, this tall and strong student named Ma Tong left a deep impression on his classmates, and almost everyone remembered him.
Also leaving a strong impression were the particularly handsome or beautiful students.
Huang Jingli was of average appearance, but she helped the teacher with the new student registration the day before, so most people remembered her, and she received warm applause during her introduction.
Then it was Cui Ying’s turn.
Cui Ying was a cold beauty who rarely smiled. Her self-introduction was perfunctory, but that didn’t matter because she was attractive. She received applause anyway, especially from the boys.
The boys at this time wouldn’t make any inappropriate gestures like whistling; instead, their polite way of showing admiration was to clap vigorously, staring intently without blinking.
When it was He Tiantian’s turn, the classroom suddenly fell silent.
He Tiantian stood at the lectern, scanning the students below. She smiled softly and said, "My name is He Tiantian, and I’m from Nan City. It’s my first time meeting you all, so please take good care of me in the future. Thank you!"
He Tiantian’s introduction was very brief.
She had prepared a lot to say, but with so many eyes on her, she felt shy and ended up saying just those few words, bowing to everyone before returning to her seat.
It wasn’t until He Tiantian had sat down that the classroom erupted into applause.
The first class ended with everyone’s introduction.
Teacher Chen didn’t speak but listened carefully at the side to the self-introductions, simultaneously memorizing the students’ faces and names.
The second class was also a Chinese class.
Teacher Chen began the lesson and, when calling on students to answer questions, he looked carefully at the name list, committing names to memory.
By the end of the two classes, Teacher Chen had memorized most of the students.
He Tiantian took notes diligently. Her pre-class preparations and thoughts had become more complete with the teacher’s explanations, expanding her understanding.
After class, the students chatted in groups of two or three.
Most of this year’s students were young people from the city, each with their own stories.
Listening to the discussions of her classmates, He Tiantian thought back to her times as part of the "sent-down youth."
At the beginning of the school year, everyone was keen and the learning atmosphere was intense. They all cherished this hard-earned opportunity to study, absorbing knowledge thirstily like sponges.
The morning passed amid the intense study.
A girl named Qin Li who sat in front of He Tiantian turned around after class and asked, "He Tiantian, class is over. Shall we go to the cafeteria together?"
"I would love to go to the cafeteria with my classmates," He Tiantian said diplomatically. "But I have two children at home that I’m worried about, so I have to go back during the midday break and can’t join everyone for lunch."
"What?" Qin Li looked surprised and scrutinized He Tiantian, who didn’t look at all like the mother of two children.
