Chapter 554: Chapter 525: Make Way, Rush Ahead_1
Cui Ying was greatly shocked!
"You guys..." Just as Cui Ying was about to send a Teleportation Talisman to her little uncle and senior fellow apprentice, she was restrained by the Snake King and knocked unconscious.
Huo Yingjie frowned at the Snake King and asked, "How did you get here?"
The Snake King was in the midst of cultivation, but after the tomb passage was dug through, he was attracted to the site. He wanted to see if there was anything here that could aid his cultivation.
The Snake King remembered how the Gold-Threaded Jade Clothing from the owner of the last great tomb had greatly helped him. This time, he wanted to try his luck again, perhaps there would be a bigger harvest.
"I’m looking for things useful for cultivation. Why did you come?" The Snake King spoke indignantly, clearly upset that someone so powerful would still compete with him for items shamelessly.
"Hehe, just wanted to have some fun!" Huo Yingjie laughed and then disappeared.
The Snake King quickly followed suit and soon arrived inside the great tomb.
Even the Snake King could not help but admire the expertise of these Tomb Robbers, who managed to dig such a long tunnel in such a short span of time. They were truly talented, at least much more experienced than those archaeologists outside.
Once in the burial chamber, the Tomb Robbers all looked to Second Brother Lu as their leader.
Second Brother Lu, who also had experience, had visited a similar grand tomb before. He managed to avoid several traps and reached the main tomb smoothly.
This great tomb and the one before should be a joint burial, but why were they separated into two independent burial sites?
What the archaeologists considered valuable was worthless in the eyes of Second Brother Lu and the other Tomb Robbers. Therefore, they went straight for the burial goods.
Each person carried a hemp bag, planning to leave as soon as it was full. If there was time, they would make another trip.
In no time, their bags were full, with items of immense value.
One of them spotted the central coffin and seemed to be bewitched as he slowly made his way toward the golden coffin.
Second Brother Lu walked up to him and slapped the man twice, scolding, "You fool, don’t even think about the person or the objects inside the coffin. Those people buried so many offerings because they wanted to enjoy the same luxury in death as they did in life, and also it’s like spending money for peace. Now that we’ve taken their offerings, we should not disturb their rest. We’ve already taken enough, let’s go."
"Second Brother Lu, that coffin, so exquisite, aren’t you curious about what the tomb owner was buried with?" Ma Si said. "Let’s take a look. If it’s just ordinary stuff, we won’t touch it. But if it’s a rare treasure, let’s take it. It would be worth our while to make a big score."
Second Brother Lu squinted his eyes at the elegant and majestic golden coffin, feeling his greed surge.
"No!" Second Brother Lu tripped over something on the ground and regained some of his senses, "Hurry up and leave, this golden coffin is unusual and mesmerizes the mind."
Ma Si was startled by Second Brother Lu’s voice and quickly stepped back a few paces.
In the meantime, the other two, as if they were puppets, walked step by step toward the coffin.
"Ma Si, don’t stare at that coffin. Face down, and let’s pull them back," Second Brother Lu commanded. After saying that, he lowered his head and charged forward, pulling one of the men back forcefully.
Ma Si’s actions were brisk, successfully dragging back the person.
Ma Si, following Second Brother Lu’s example, slapped the man’s face several times.
Only then did the two regain consciousness, their faces swollen.
"Grab the stuff and let’s get out quickly. This place gives off a bad vibe," Second Brother Lu said. If they didn’t leave now, he feared they might never do so.
Tomb Robbers may be greedy for valuable items but knew not to be insatiable.
Upon hearing Second Brother Lu’s words, the rest quickly shouldered their loot and prepared to exit the way they came.
Halfway out, Cui Heng and people from Huashan encountered Second Brother Lu and his group.
"Who are you?" Second Brother Lu was taken aback, raised the gun, and pointed it at Cui Heng, as the four of them went on alert.
Cui Heng frowned and said, "Fellow tomb robbers, we don’t want to start a slaughter. Just take your things and go."
It would be easy to kill these people, but Cui Heng was worried that a fight might set off some unknown traps here, and even with their considerable skills, they might not be able to leave this place.
At the same time, Cui Heng also realized that they didn’t have any of the items that attracted them, just some antiques and jade, things made of gold and silver.
Such things were useless to them!
Second Brother Lu was stunned and didn’t expect these people to be so easy to talk to, which made him a bit suspicious.
"No need to doubt us. You’ve only taken part of the items; we’ll take what we need and leave as well. Let’s mind our own business without any casualties. If any of us start a fight, nobody gets out." Cui Heng said, trying to persuade them kindly.
If they could avoid fighting, that was naturally for the best, anyway—they would be the ones to go up first.
"Thank you!" Second Brother Lu said with a fist salute, "We’ll go right, and you go left; let’s not interfere with each other."
"Okay!" Cui Heng agreed.
They walked forward, facing each other, step by step.
When they got to the middle, everyone began to walk backward cautiously, guarding against any tricks.
Only after they were more than twenty meters apart did Second Brother Lu and his group begin to relax and leave quickly.
"Uncle Master, we’re just letting them go?" Huashan asked, "What if they reveal our whereabouts once they get out..."
"Don’t worry, Ying is still around. Do you think she’ll let these people off?" Cui Heng said, confident that even if these people had guns, Cui Ying could handle them.
Huashan thought about it; his junior sister’s martial arts were about the same as his, so she should be able to deal with the four of them.
"Hurry up, don’t dawdle," Cui Heng urged, feeling that they were getting closer and closer.
"Yes, Uncle Master!" Huashan responded.
While Huashan and Cui Heng were negotiating with Second Brother Lu, Huo Yingjie and Snake King had already reached the side of the golden coffin.
With a wave of his hand, Snake King lifted the lid of the coffin.
Inside was a young woman, as if in deep sleep, lying inside the coffin.
Huo Yingjie frowned, looked it over, and said, "This is the Gold-Threaded Jade Clothing!"
"Are you going to take it with you, or just absorb the Spiritual Energy right here?" Huo Yingjie asked; they didn’t have much time, as two other people were coming.
"Take it!" Snake King said, reaching out and stripping off the Gold-Threaded Jade Clothing.
"You really have no sense of cherishing beauty," Huo Yingjie teased, looking towards Snake King with a half-smile.
"She’s not my lover. Why should I cherish her?" Snake King responded, "We’ve got what we came for. Can we leave now?"
Snake King then put the lid back on the coffin.
In their eyes, only the Gold-Threaded Jade Clothing, full of Spiritual Energy, was a treasure; everything else was worthless trivia.
"Let’s go," Huo Yingjie said.
"Who is it?" Cui Heng asked sharply; he could feel that the young man in front of him was holding something that was fatally attractive to them.
Snake King and Huo Yingjie turned their backs to Cui Heng and Huashan. They had no intention of letting them see their faces and disappeared on the spot.
