Chapter 432: Chapter 403: Life Isn’t Good, But the Person Is!_1
Not only did the Snake King benefit, but He Tiantian also gained significantly.
It wasn’t just in material terms, but also spiritually.
"So this trip to Country M has been worthwhile," He Tiantian said with a smile, "If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll take you to visit some famous mountains and rivers; perhaps it’ll inspire your cultivation."
"That would be great!" the Snake King nodded.
Thinking of the recent events involving her grandmother, He Tiantian asked, "Snake King, recently my grandmother’s stepsons and stepdaughters have been slandering her to achieve their goals. Those clowns are not to be feared, but I want to know, could they harm my grandma?"
The Snake King sneered and said, "Please don’t be so naive, He Tiantian. Your grandmother is much more formidable than you imagine; you should just enjoy this kinship."
"My grandmother really won’t come to harm?" He Tiantian asked again, seeking to confirm once more.
"She won’t. The power behind your grandmother is substantial," the Snake King said, "The reason she hasn’t dealt with those two personally is that she doesn’t want to dirty her hands."
He Tiantian grew even more curious and asked, "My grandmother is so mysterious, so will there be any danger for her when she travels with me to the country?"
"Danger?" the Snake King let out a cold laugh, "Some people couldn’t kowtow to her fast enough!"
Upon hearing this, He Tiantian was not just curious, but shocked, and she asked, "Snake King, could you explain a bit more? If my grandmother is merely wealthy, it’s not enough for people to fawn over her like this; is there something I don’t know?"
The Snake King did not reply.
"Snake King, please tell me quickly," He Tiantian pressed, "What is the reason? If you know, you must tell me, so that I can be prepared and avoid any potential harm!"
After pondering for a while, the Snake King finally said, "I scanned some of your grandmother’s documents and found many confidential files involving advanced weaponry."
He Tiantian was shocked and said, "Are you saying my grandmother is smuggling... smuggling arms?"
"Not smuggling, producing!" the Snake King replied, "In Country M?"
"Not in the United States, but on a secluded Latin island," the Snake King said, "Someone with such power would be too pathetic if they couldn’t even protect themselves."
He Tiantian was silent for a long while, thinking with the decades of television-watching experience from her previous life, that those involved with arms, if recognized by the government, are called military enterprises; those not recognized are terrorist organizations!
Such an identity would be very sensitive in both Country M and Country H. Under these circumstances, was it appropriate for her grandmother to go to Country H?
How to deal with such a situation was unknown to He Tiantian.
"Snake King, the business my grandmother is in is far too dangerous," said He Tiantian, "Is it really okay for my grandma to go to the country with me?"
Shrugging, the Snake King said, "That’s one of the Bai Family’s industries. Your grandmother has wanted to end this business sooner but couldn’t extricate herself. However, she is longing to see your father, so she doesn’t care about much else now."
"I used to think my grandma was just an ordinary businesswoman, and that going to the country wasn’t a big deal, but now that I’ve heard this from you, I also feel it’s not suitable for grandma to go back," He Tiantian said, "But grandma misses my father so much, she will surely go."
"Yes," the Snake King nodded, "And you can think of it this way. Your relationship with Bai Qiongyu is something any interested party could find out. Whether your grandmother goes back or not, it will now attract the attention of both countries."
"Yes, that’s true," He Tiantian remarked, "It’s only a matter of tearing through a layer of paper. Although I know about this matter, I can’t persuade my grandmother; I can only take it one step at a time."
The Snake King initially didn’t want to tell He Tiantian about these matters, as it worried she might overthink and waste her energy.
"Alright, don’t think too much. Your grandmother is a smart woman; she knows what’s best to do," the Snake King soothed, as it had already sensed that Bai Qiongyu was looking for a way out.
But the Bai Family’s operations were extensive, and it couldn’t be downsized immediately; it had to be done step by step.
Before 4:30 pm, Bai Qiongyu was already home.
Having heard that He Tiantian was resting in her room, she didn’t go to see Tiantian directly but changed into her house clothes and waited downstairs for Tiantian.
"Your grandmother is back," Snake King reminded, "there will be a way when the car reaches the mountain; don’t worry about the sky falling just yet."
"Okay," He Tiantian agreed, also changing into her house clothes.
When she went downstairs, Tiantian said with a smile, "Grandma, did you finish work early today?"
"I came back after handling the things at hand when I heard you were coming," said Bai Qiongyu. "Stay for a few days this time, keep me company."
He Tiantian smiled and replied, "Even if Grandma chases me away, I won’t leave, I brought all my clothes."
Hearing her granddaughter’s affectionate voice, Bai Qiongyu felt joy in her heart and said, "This is your home; you can come over anytime."
"Then I’ll remember what you said," Tiantian laughed, "I’m hungry, I’m going to see what Grandma Lan has prepared for dinner."
In the kitchen, He Tiantian happened to run into Mrs. Brown.
"Dear Mrs. Brown, I’ve missed your little puddings so much," Tiantian laughed. "Could you make some tomorrow?"
"Of course, I can," Mrs. Brown laughed. "I didn’t expect you to be the young lady of the house."
"Hehe, it’s all fate," He Tiantian said mysteriously. "I brought gifts for Jimmy and Amy; please pass them on to them tonight."
Mrs. Brown was very happy and nodded repeatedly: "Thank you so much."
Mrs. Brown hadn’t expected that, by helping Tiantian back then, she was assisting her employer’s granddaughter. After the employer learned she had helped Miss Janie, he gave her a 30 percent pay raise.
With this extra 30 percent in her salary, she could provide a comfortable life and schools for her children.
Once dinner was ready, Bai Qiongyu sat at the head of the table, with Xianglan and He Tiantian on either side.
Bai Qiongyu was in a good mood today and didn’t stick to the habit of not speaking while eating. She quietly asked Tiantian a few questions.
"Tiantian, it’s a pity you’ve only completed middle school and stopped studying," Bai Qiongyu said. "Will you follow me back after this visit?"
He Tiantian looked troubled, thought for a moment, and replied, "Although I want to go to school, I’d rather stay in my homeland."
"Why?" Bai Qiongyu asked. "Is life really that good in such a closed-off country?"
Maybe life isn’t great, but the people are!
"Because my parents are in my homeland, I don’t want to leave them," Tiantian said. Although she felt sorry for her grandmother being alone, she still didn’t want to leave her parents, nor did she want to leave Huo Yingjie.
"What if your parents are willing to move to the United States with me?" Bai Qiongyu asked, looking intently at Tiantian, wanting to know her true thoughts.
