Chapter 372: Chapter 343 Difficult and Long Journey_1
He remembered studying a thick letter he had received from his younger brother, which contained nearly ten design drawings. Among them were six outfits for girls and four for elderly ladies, complete with measurements.
Sure, it was possible to have such clothes made in Mainland China, but it would definitely attract some attention, which wasn’t worth it. Huo Yingjun sent the clothes directly to H Port for tailors there to make.
When they arrived in Hong Kong, they just had to try them on to see if they fit well.
If not, a little alteration would do the trick!
Some of the clothes for Third Grandma Qi were taken out, but she insisted on bringing the two cheongsams made from the fabric He Tiantian had bought for her.
They were hand-made by Third Grandma Qi herself and fit perfectly; she could wear them once the weather warmed up a bit.
Of course, she couldn’t leave behind the embroidered shoes she made for herself.
Without custom orders, it was impossible for Third Grandma Qi with her small feet to find fitting shoes.
After preparing everything, He Tiantian took Third Grandma Qi and, under cover of night, bid farewell to her parents and left Qijia Village.
Among Tiantian’s belongings were her usual clothing and an English dictionary. If she encountered unfamiliar words or didn’t understand something, she could look it up.
Village Chief Qi’s ox cart was put to use again. Once they reached smoother roads, Huo Yingjun’s car could be seen.
From his bag, Village Chief Qi took out a handkerchief-wrapped roll and said, "Third Grandma, this is a little something from me. Take this money; you might need it to buy some stuff."
Third Grandma Qi declined, saying, "Dazhu, I know this is your heartfelt gesture. But we will use official funds all the way, there is no need for our own money."
Her straightforward words made He Tiantian want to laugh.
"Village Chief Qi, we won’t need this money abroad. They don’t use RMB outside of China," He Tiantian explained. "Please take it back."
"Oh, right!" smacking his head, Village Chief Qi then realized this money could only be used in China.
Huo Yingjun reminded, "Village Chief Qi, this is confidential. Please don’t talk about it to others."
"Yes, yes, I understand. Please take care on your journey and look after the elderly and the young," Village Chief Qi nodded repeatedly, not worried, as he had already inquired with his second uncle. He was told everything would be fine and they would return safely.
"I will," Huo Yingjun promised.
Once inside the vehicle, Village Chief Qi watched the two cars drive off before he returned with the ox cart.
Village Chief Qi wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes. Third Grandma had a tough life, but finally, she would get to see the Shuliang brothers again. When he saw the Shuliang brothers, he intended to ask them, after so many years, why there hadn’t been any news at all.
The mountain roads were rough, and the car’s speed wasn’t high. To accommodate Third Grandma Qi, they drove even slower.
Finally, they arrived in Huai City just before three in the morning.
After a few hours of rest, Huo Yingjie secretly arranged for Third Grandma Qi to have a physical check-up.
The results pleased everyone; Third Grandma Qi was in good health, sturdy enough for the rough journey, and able to fly on a plane.
Then, Huo Yingjun, along with Third Grandma Qi, He Tiantian, and the others, went straight to the train station and boarded the express train to Guangzhou.
"Grandma Qi, if you feel uncomfortable at all, you must tell me. Don’t bear it in silence," He Tiantian said, handing a cup of water to Grandma Qi whose lips were dry.
Taking the cup, Grandma Qi drank a few sips and smiled, "I’m fine; some people get car sick, but I don’t."
Huo Yingjun brought a few oranges over, placed them on the small table, and said, "Grandma Qi, have some oranges."
This time, things went so smoothly that Huo Yingjun was much more at ease.
"Thank you," Third Grandma Qi said with a smile, taking an orange in her hand, "Yingjun, how much longer until we reach Hong Kong?"
Huo Yingjun looked at his wristwatch and said, "We still have to take the train overnight, and we’ll arrive in Guangzhou tomorrow morning. After that, we have to take a boat to reach Hong Kong."
"Oh, then there’s still plenty of time. Tiantian, don’t be nervous, eat when you should eat, sleep when you should sleep," Third Grandma Qi told He Tiantian, who was in a state of anxiety beside her, "If you keep this up, I’ll be fine, but you’ll wear yourself out first."
"Hehe, grandma, I got it," He Tiantian replied, realizing she truly didn’t need to be so anxious.
With Huo Yingjun around, arrangements must have been meticulously made, and even if something happened, there was still the Snake King!
So, as Third Grandma Qi had said, He Tiantian did just that: she ate when it was time to eat, drank when she needed to, and aside from looking after Third Grandma Qi, she had nothing else to worry about.
Finally, the train arrived at the station. Just before disembarking, Huo Yingjun asked, "Grandma Qi, do you feel any discomfort?"
Third Grandma Qi shook her head and said, "No, we can arrange for the boat today."
He Tiantian knew that Third Grandma Qi was eager to see her son and nodded to Huo Yingjun.
Two cars arrived at the train station and directly took Huo Yingjun and his party to the dock, where they boarded a fishing vessel.
The fishing vessel sailed over the vast sea and stopped next to an island.
By then, it was already dark!
Shortly after, a small boat came out from the other side of the island; Huo Yingjun helped Third Grandma Qi and He Tiantian aboard the small boat, which then took them to the cruise ship.
At this point, Third Grandma Qi was a bit tired.
He Tiantian took Third Grandma Qi to freshen up and rest!
Fortunately, Third Grandma Qi had a good appetite. After eating, she felt rejuvenated and said, "Tiantian, it’s really not easy to go on a trip like this..."
"Yes!" He Tiantian also remarked sentimentally that it would be much more convenient to go to H Port once it was reunited with Mainland China in the future.
"We’re lucky to have Yingjun with us; otherwise, the journey would have been much harder for us two, one old and one young," Third Grandma Qi said. "Tiantian, you should go to sleep on that bed over there; we’ll probably have to continue our journey tomorrow!"
The cruise ship rocked gently, and He Tiantian couldn’t fall asleep, tossing and turning.
After a while, Third Grandma Qi’s sleepy voice came through, "Girl Tian, why aren’t you sleeping?"
"It’s rocking too much; I can’t fall asleep," He Tiantian whispered in reply. "Grandma, am I disturbing you? Maybe I should sleep in the next room."
"No, you stay here and sleep. I won’t have peace of mind if you’re out there," Third Grandma Qi said. He Jingyu and his wife entrusted their daughter to her, so she had to ensure He Tiantian’s safety. "You know, you can think of it this way: the rocking is like being in a cradle, gently swaying back and forth; the sound of the sea waves outside is like your mother’s lullaby. Try thinking like that, maybe it will help you?"
Whether on the train or on the cruise at sea, Third Grandma Qi could always sleep.
Even if she wasn’t used to a new environment, she would find a way to make herself comfortable.
Compared to Third Grandma Qi, He Tiantian felt she was incredibly weak.
He Tiantian did as Third Grandma Qi suggested, imagining the bed as a cradle and the sound of the waves as her mother’s lullaby. She gradually relaxed and soon drifted into dreams.
