Chapter 311: Chapter 282: Agree, Maneuver (2/5 for Monthly Votes)_1
Qi Shushen took a few deep breaths before continuing, as the next part was critical.
"What do I need to do to see my mother?" Qi Shushen asked with a solemn voice, unable to wait any longer.
He was middle-aged, in good health, and could afford to wait, but his mother was already in her sixties, approaching seventy, and didn’t have many years left to wait.
"Mr. Qi, what we need to do is to allow countless people like you, separated from their families, to return to their homeland as soon as possible. Please help us," Huo Yingjun said, using the word "help," which made Qi Shushen feel more at ease.
"When can I see my mother then?" Qi Shushen, so intelligent, understood what he needed to do without Huo Yingjun saying it directly.
To change the relationship between the two sides, world recognition was necessary. However, the United States, as the leading superpower, simply could not be bypassed. Only by establishing diplomatic relations with the United States first, could they quickly alter the situation.
"You can see her once the diplomatic relations are established, and the situation will change accordingly," Huo Yingjun said. "Mr. Qi, you will be a guest of honor at our table."
Qi Shushen clenched his fists tightly before finally saying, "Take good care of my mother, I know what to do now!"
The stalemate wasn’t a solution; he couldn’t quickly erupt the situation, but he could maneuver in Country M.
Life is short, with not many twenty years left.
"Thank you, Mr. Qi," Huo Yingjun said. "Aside from the mission, we are actually relatives! Rest assured, Mr. Qi, we will protect Grandma Qi and Second Uncle Qi well."
"That’s good to hear," Qi Shushen nodded, having learned what he wanted to know and ready to leave, his gaze falling on the photos on the table. "May I take these with me?"
Huo Yingjun nodded, "Of course, we wanted to give them to you."
Qi Shushen nodded, holding the photos as if they were the most precious treasures, and walked out of the private room where Huo Yingjun was.
Back in his own private room, Qi Shushen couldn’t calm down for a long time, his gaze burning with intensity as he looked at the photos.
Anna had been concerned about her husband the entire time. Even though he had returned, his heart was no longer at the concert.
The concert ended, and the family didn’t follow the original plan to eat out before heading home.
Back at home, Anna, Qi Zhenghan, and Qi Zhengmin didn’t go upstairs but instead looked at their father, hoping for an explanation.
Seeing this, Qi Shushen knew they wouldn’t return to sleep without a word from him. He pulled out the photos and said, "This is your grandmother, she’s still alive. Just remember her in your hearts, and don’t mention it outside."
Indeed, Anna nodded, "Thank God, dear, mother’s alive, that’s wonderful. When can we go back to see her? Or perhaps bring her here, so our family can live together."
"Yeah, Dad, when can we meet Grandma?" Qi Zhenghan asked with concern. He was sixteen and capable of his own thoughts.
Qi Zhengmin was still young, but with her parents and brother missing Grandma so much, she also longed for the grandmother she’d never met.
"After China and the United States establish diplomatic relations," Qi Shushen said. "Only our family can know about this; you must not talk about it outside, as it could endanger the safety of our entire family. Especially you, Zhenghan, and Zhengmin, you’re still young, and you absolutely cannot talk about it. If you do, not only will you not see your grandmother, but I might also lose my life because of it."
Anna was anxious and said, "Dear, we most certainly won’t speak of it. You must be careful."
"I won’t say it either," Qi Zhenghan and Qi Zhengmin also quickly promised.
Their father had always been gentle and elegant, never as serious as he was now, and they recognized the gravity of the issue!
Qi Zhengmin, the youngest, didn’t understand why, but she believed in her heart that if she spoke about this matter, she would no longer have a dad.
After explaining things to his family, Qi Shu began to spare no effort from that day on for this cause!
He had only one thought in his heart, and that was to see his mother, to live with her, and to perform his filial duties by her side.
Huo Yingjun had been keeping an eye on Qi Shu in secret, and some of Qi Shu’s actions had caught his attention. He couldn’t help but feel moved, thinking Qi Shu was someone remarkable, and finding a breakthrough through him would certainly be successful.
What he needed to do now was to protect Qi Shu and his family from the shadows.
In Taoyuan County, far away, Third Grandma Qi was combing He Tiantian’s hair, unaware that on the other side of the Earth, someone was striving hard to return and see her.
"Oh dear, now we can only make braids, unlike in our childhood when there were many hairstyles. If you wanted, you could change three times a day, and not repeat for half a month," Third Grandma Qi said. She sat in a big chair while He Tiantian sat on a small stool in front of her.
"Actually, I want to cut my hair short for convenience in washing and combing, but my mom said, my hair is so good, it would be a pity to cut it. So I’ve been keeping it, and now it’s this long," He Tiantian said, her facial shape fitting both long and short hair.
Third Grandma Qi said with a smiling face, "You have good hair, black and shiny, without split ends. With hair like yours, let it grow a bit longer, and it would be perfect for hair embroidery."
"Hair embroidery?" He Tiantian asked with curiosity, "Grandma, is that embroidering with hair?"
"Yes, but I can’t do it. It’s an old craft that fewer and fewer people are learning nowadays," Third Grandma Qi said, "Alright, take a look in the mirror, does it look nice?"
Third Grandma Qi handed over the mirror to He Tiantian.
He Tiantian took the mirror and saw herself in the reflection with two braids.
Third Grandma Qi didn’t start braiding from the neck like others but instead split the hair in two from the top of the head, braiding it very neatly, without a single stray hair."
"It looks beautiful, really beautiful," He Tiantian said, "Grandma, your hands are so skillful!"
Third Grandma Qi looked over He Tiantian and noticed that her bangs were too long, so she took out scissors, "Come, let’s trim your bangs a bit. A girl should look beautiful, it would be a shame to waste a pretty face."
With a few simple snips, Third Grandma Qi thinned out He Tiantian’s bangs, then cut them horizontally to create tidy, thinned bangs. These bangs revealed He Tiantian’s delicate, curved eyebrows and her lively, big eyes.
"Even more beautiful," He Tiantian said, unable to hide her joy, "Thank you, Grandma."
"I always dreamed of combing my granddaughter’s hair and making clothes for my grandson. Now that I have this opportunity, I should be thanking you," Third Grandma Qi said, "By the way, when you go to Huai City, listen to Village Chief Qi and don’t run around."
He Tiantian nodded, "I understand, Grandma."
The reason for such a grand attire was not to go to the back mountain to work but to attend the commendation ceremony in Huai City.
He Tiantian was participating as a representative of urban youth, in addition to another pair of model workers from the village, all of whom were industrious and always willing to put in effort.
