"Exactly, I see that clearly now, so I don’t like him anymore," Qian Miaomiao said. "Auntie, you don’t have to worry about me."

"That’s good to hear," Director Liu said with relief. "Work hard, and I will keep an eye out for any talented young men we have here for you."

Feeling embarrassed, Qian Miaomiao smiled awkwardly and said, "Auntie, I’m still young, no rush! Anyway, I should go now, there’s a lot of work I haven’t finished yet! If I don’t finish it, I’ll get scolded again."

After picking up the office supplies, Qian Miaomiao didn’t dare stay longer and hurriedly left.

"Yes, yes, Boss!" Qian Miaomiao hurriedly handed out the items and got to work.

Three hours later, they finally completed the experiment.

"Okay, gather up the materials for me. We’ve finished the task ahead of schedule, so no work this afternoon; you can all take a break," Huo Yingjie said gently, a stark contrast to the loud voice he used during the experiments.

If one didn’t know Huo Yingjie well, they’d surely think he was a schizophrenic madman.

Although working with Huo Yingjie was hard, the rewards were substantial!

Not only was there a bonus, tangible rewards, but also vacation time!

"Yes!" Everyone was overjoyed, looking forward to a good meal that night and a sound sleep.

Huo Yingjie returned to his office and started writing the report, waiting for his subordinates to finish organizing the experimental data. After checking them over, he would hand them to Chief Engineer Sun.

This task was completed five days ahead of schedule. Afterward would come another task, which he also wanted to complete early. After several tasks were done, he estimated he could apply for a ten-day vacation.

Huo Yingjie had to admit, he missed He Tiantian, missed her terribly!

Because of confidentiality, He Tiantian couldn’t come here, so Huo Yingjie had to find a way to get out.

To achieve this, he took on the formidable tasks assigned by Chief Engineer Sun. Fortunately, his approach was correct, saving him from many detours, making this method workable.

After sorting everything out by noon, Huo Yingjie handed the report to Chief Engineer Sun and then went to the cafeteria for lunch.

Zhou Yuanchao had already prepared Huo Yingjie’s meal and was waiting for him, but instead of Huo Yingjie, it was Zhou Yuanyuan who showed up.

"Where’s Huo Yingjie?" Zhou Yuanyuan asked bluntly.

Zhou Yuanchao was taken aback. Ah, this is a young girl spoiled by her family! Aside from being a bit more gentle in front of Huo Yingjie, she was direct and condescending to everyone else.

They were all colleagues, and even if her family was prominent, that was no excuse to look down on others!

"He’s in his office!" Zhou Yuanchao replied and then, not waiting for Huo Yingjie, grabbed his lunchbox and started to eat.

Seeing two lunchboxes on the table, Zhou Yuanyuan asked, "Is this Huo Yingjie’s?"

"Yes," Zhou Yuanchao responded. Normally so talkative, he had no desire to utter another word in front of Zhou Yuanyuan.

He felt fortunate indeed, not to have a woman like her take an interest in him!

Since the meal was here, Zhou Yuanyuan decided to wait here, knowing that Huo Yingjie would eventually come back for it.

By the time Huo Yingjie arrived, Zhou Yuanchao had already eaten most of it.

Although there was braised pork among the dishes, with a woman sitting across from him, Zhou Yuanchao found his appetite diminished.

When Huo Yingjie saw Zhou Yuanyuan, his gaze darkened. Why had she come to find him again?

Huo Yingjie sat down to eat, acting as if he hadn’t seen Zhou Yuanyuan at all.

"Brother Yingjie, I heard you’ve completed your assignment and have some time off. Let’s go out and have some fun," Zhou Yuanyuan said, having already inquired about it before coming.

Huo Yingjie continued eating without looking up, remaining silent.

"Brother Yingjie, I’m talking to you. Why won’t you answer me?" Zhou Yuanyuan said plaintively. Every time she saw Huo Yingjie, she was infuriated to the point of vowing never to bother with him again.

But once she was back, not seeing Huo Yingjie, she found herself missing him terribly!

She had been poisoned by something called "Huo Yingjie"!

"Eat in silence, sleep without talking!" Huo Yingjie said succinctly, continuing to eat without raising his head.

Zhou Yuanyuan was so frustrated that her face turned red and her neck swelled. Huo Yingjie’s words made her feel crude and ill-mannered.

Zhou Yuanchao quickly finished eating and left with his meal box.

In such a situation, having him there was superfluous. Zhou Yuanyuan’s glares had already left several holes in him.

Huo Yingjie was indeed hungry. Compared to talking with Zhou Yuanyuan, eating was now a form of enjoyment.

Huo Yingjie finished everything in his meal box, closed the lid, and went off to wash it.

"Now that you’ve finished eating, can we talk?" Zhou Yuanyuan asked, worried Huo Yingjie would head back to the dormitory or his office, and she would lose her chance to speak.

Huo Yingjie fixedly looked at Zhou Yuanyuan. There was no affection in his eyes, not even the closeness that comes between acquaintances, and he said, "Go ahead, what is it?"

Zhou Yuanyuan bit her lip, feeling aggrieved, "Brother Yingjie, it was Yingqi who invited me to go out together. We’re both new here and don’t know any good places, so we were hoping you could show us around."

Upon hearing this, Huo Yingjie was taken aback and asked, "Where is Huo Yingqi?"

"She’s stationed not far from our research institute; she’s a doctor there," Zhou Yuanyuan explained. "She wrote to me saying she has tomorrow off and can come out. I’m off too, and you’re not working, so let’s all go out together."

If it were just Huo Yingqi, as a brother, Huo Yingjie would have taken Yingqi out.

But now there was Zhou Yuanyuan, who was eyeing him eagerly. Huo Yingjie would never go out under such circumstances.

"You two go ahead, I’m not free," Huo Yingjie said before picking up his meal box and standing to leave.

Zhou Yuanyuan was stunned, having not expected that even bringing up Huo Yingqi, he would still refuse.

"Huo Yingjie, don’t treat me this way!" Zhou Yuanyuan cried out, "You can’t treat me like this!"

There were other people in the cafeteria eating, and upon hearing Zhou Yuanyuan’s exclamation, they all started looking at Huo Yingjie.

Because of Director Liu’s promotion, everyone knew about Huo Yingjie having a young female acquaintance from his past. Now there was another woman, apparently a doctor from the research institute’s hospital, crying and making a scene. It was clear that Huo Yingjie was two-timing.

Huo Yingjie turned around and said coldly, "We are only colleagues, please have some self-respect. Don’t make statements that lead to misunderstandings. I have been rejecting you from the beginning and will not accept you in the future either."
