Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Haven’t Done Anything Else! (1100+) _1

The next morning, Huo Yingjie and his parents rushed to catch the train. Since the train was at six o’clock in the morning, and they needed to leave at five to avoid being late, they decided not to have breakfast to avoid troubling the He family.

After He Tiantian returned home last night, she slept only briefly before getting up to cook for the three members of the Huo family.

She made dough and rolled out noodles, adding some cabbage leaves and eggs to make the noodle dish.

Once He Tiantian was finished, she went next door to call them over for the meal.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Lifang chided her, "Girl Tian, didn’t we agree on this yesterday? It’s too early, there’s no need to make breakfast."

He Tiantian smiled unconcernedly and said, "It’s so cold out, it’s too cold to go without eating something."

"You’re too considerate," Jiang Lifang said with gratification, feeling that Tiantian was even more caring than her own daughter.

"Aunt Jiang, Uncle Huo, Brother Yingjie, hurry up or the noodles will get overcooked," He Tiantian chided. "Anyway, you’ve already packed your things, just push the tricycle and take the luggage, and you’ll be at the train station in no time."

"Haha, Tiantian is so thoughtful, we shouldn’t be polite," Huo Zhekun said, and they all came over to eat the noodles.

He Jingyu and Wang Shuping had already gotten up.

Third Grandma Qi and Old Man Qi were advanced in years and required less sleep, so they woke up early as well.

The three members of the Huo family entered and each ate a large bowl of noodles, warm and comforting.

Then He Jingyu rode the tricycle and helped them take the luggage to the train station together.

Wei Zhekun, Jiang Lifang, and He Jingyu talked about work matters upfront.

He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie quietly conversed in the back, as if they had endless small talk to share.

The three adults ahead saw this, and each snickered covertly, while the two behind remained unaware, chatting away merrily.

When they arrived at the train station, ticket checking had already begun inside.

Since they were all adults capable of carrying their luggage, He Jingyu didn’t buy a platform ticket. After entering the ticket checking area, he could no longer see them.

He Jingyu left the train station with He Tiantian, and seeing his daughter a bit downhearted, he said, "Tiantian, come on up, Dad will take you home."

"Thank you, Dad," He Tiantian smiled, knowing she still had her parents. Seeing that it was starting to get light outside and people were beginning to fill the streets, she climbed onto the tricycle.

Meanwhile, Huo Yingjie boarded the train with his parents. They had bought connecting sleeper tickets, so they were together. Huo Yingjie, who hadn’t slept well the previous night, climbed up to his bunk and fell asleep as soon as he got into the carriage.

Jiang Lifang wanted to ask some questions, but seeing her son so exhausted, she held back.

By noon, Huo Yingjie woke up, climbed down from the upper bunk, and seeing only his mother, he asked, "Mom, where’s Dad?"

"Your dad went to buy something to eat," Jiang Lifang replied. "Son, come here, I have something to ask you."

Huo Yingjie sat down with a hint of nervousness and said, "Mom, what do you want to ask?"

"Of course, it’s about you and Tiantian!" Jiang Lifang said, "Girl Tian, your dad and I like her a hundredfold. But Tiantian is young, and you mustn’t be reckless!"

Seeing his mother speak like this, Huo Yingjie’s face turned red, and he hurriedly said, "Mom, I’m grown up now; of course I know what’s right and wrong. You don’t have to worry."

Jiang Lifang patted Huo Yingjie’s head and said, "It’s precisely because you’ve grown up that I’m reminding you. The situation is unclear, and Tiantian will have to stay in the countryside for a while longer; she can’t come back from the countryside yet. As much as I want to hold a grandson soon, I can’t bear to see Tiantian suffer like this. It’s already tough being alone in a foreign place. If she also has a child, wouldn’t it be even more pitiful? And our Huo Family’s grandson can’t be born under such circumstances either!"

Hearing his mother’s words, Huo Yingjie looked even more embarrassed and said, "Mom, how can you say such things about your son! I obviously know I can’t let Tiantian suffer; all I did was kiss her, nothing else!"

"That’s good," Jiang Lifang nodded and said, "As long as you understand what’s important, I just hope the situation stabilizes soon and Tiantian can come back earlier. Once the time comes, we will settle your matters."

Huo Yingjie chuckled and said, "Mom, don’t worry, things will get better. We will get through this period and then new opportunities will come."

"As soon as you came back, you talked to your dad about some things and left me out; I don’t even know what you were discussing," Jiang Lifang said, "Anyway, both you and your father have plans of your own, so I won’t bother worrying needlessly."

"Mom, I will give you and Tiantian a good life," Huo Yingjie said, patting his mother’s arm to comfort her.

Just then, Wei Zhekun brought over three lunchboxes filled with soup, saying, "Today is a good day; we’ve even got seaweed egg soup. Come on, get up and eat something."

"You eat first, I’m going to wash my hands," Huo Yingjie said, and after speaking, he took a towel and went to both ends of the train.

After using the toilet and washing his hands, Huo Yingjie brought over a clean, damp towel to wipe his parents’ hands.

Then he took out a package containing pancakes skillfully made by He Tiantian.

"Oh my, Tian’s cooking skills are even better than Jingyu’s wife," Huo Zhekun said. "These pancakes are well made, soft and fragrant."

"Indeed, Tiantian has suffered in the countryside," Jiang Lifang said. "It’s heartbreakingly endearing, but that’s a good thing. Once Yingjie and Tiantian marry, I’ll feel at ease even if we’re not around."

"Exactly, having a wife who cooks tasty meals is a blessing," Huo Zhekun agreed, saying, "These years, you haven’t improved much in the kitchen. I usually eat at work, and Yingjie mostly eats at the He Family’s place."

Jiang Lifang replied with an embarrassed smile, "I’m really curious why, when I cook the same ingredients, it doesn’t taste as good as Shuping’s. Back in the day, if you said this, I’d get angry, but now that I’m older, I know some things can’t be forced. If I can’t do it, I can’t do it."

"Everyone has their own strengths, and you’re the top surgeon at your hospital!" Wei Zhekun praised. "There might be some regrets, but I don’t look down on you for that, rest assured."

"Tsk!" Jiang Lifang rolled her eyes and said, "You, all you do is talk nonsense, in front of the child too!"

"Hehe," Huo Zhekun chuckled, "Our child is eating; he didn’t hear."

Huo Yingjie rolled his eyes—could they not ignore their own son like that? It was not okay!

He may have been eating, but eating only involved the mouth—he could still see with his eyes and hear with his ears!

He Tiantian had prepared quite a few things for them, and with the Grain Coupons they brought themselves, even though the journey was dull, at least they weren’t wronged when it came to food. At night, the family of three slept on the bunk beds, and even though they occasionally woke up when people got off the train, they still managed to get a good amount of sleep.

The journey was filled with chatter and laughter; they were neither lonely nor very tired.
