Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Falsehood, Courtesy_1

Bighead Yang was such a bad egg in Nan City that everyone wanted to beat him up, and He Tiantian definitely didn’t want to be misunderstood as being associated with someone like that, tarnishing her reputation.

Upon hearing He Tiantian’s words, Professor Wang was flabbergasted and stammered, "Bighead Yang has been removed from his position?"

At the time, Bighead Yang had called the shots in Nan City, and had been imperiously decisive. Hearing He Tiantian making such a claim, Professor Wang was somewhat incredulous!

"Mm-hmm, that’s right, the current director of the city office is a Director named Tang. Since he took over, he no longer acts recklessly. Everything is based on evidence now, and indeed, they’ve identified a few traitors. It’s said that they even found a radio station and some confidential documents," He Tiantian shared some of what she had heard in Nan City, making it clear that she had nothing to do with Bighead Yang and those people.

When Professor Wang heard that Bighead Yang had been removed from his position and was being investigated, he was greatly relieved and said, "Good, that Bighead Yang was no good, full of evil tricks. Old Wei wouldn’t have died in vain if it weren’t for Bighead Yang’s insatiable greed."

"Nan City isn’t like it used to be. I also asked around a bit, and in a year or two, you can write to the relevant departments in Nan City. Maybe after a review, you might be able to return to Nan City," He Tiantian suggested, "Although the hope is slim, having some hope is much better than having none at all."

"You’re right. We’ll be good and wait for the day when the organization trusts us," Professor Wang said earnestly, with more confidence in his future life.

This place isn’t too bad, but after all, it’s not home. She wanted to return to the familiar campus, to the familiar home.

After He Tiantian left the livestock team, Professor Wang shared the news with everyone. The people from Nan City were very happy, cursing Bighead Yang as getting his just deserts.

However, none of them had the courage to write back and ask. They wanted to wait for He Tiantian to return during the New Year, then have her inquire for them. If the situation really improved, they would then figure out a way.

Life in Qijia Village was not so bad, and they dared not take risks!

After lunch, He Tiantian took Qi Xiaoyan with her to the neighboring Hujia Village to deliver a package to Liu Lingli.

"Sister Tiantian, what’s inside this?" Qi Xiaoyan asked, noticing the bulging, rather large bundle.

"It’s winter clothes from my fellow villager," He Tiantian answered, "Her mother asked me to bring them over."

"You’re carrying so many of your own things, and still you’re delivering items for others, you’re really strong," Qi Xiaoyan said admiringly, "During the days you were gone, Qi Fangfang came looking for you several times, and she even wanted you to bring her gifts from Nan City. Did you get something prepared? If not, it would be pretty awkward if she asks you outright."

It seemed Qi Xiaoyan had experienced such a situation before, so she quickly warned He Tiantian.

"I did bring something, just afraid Qi Fangfang might scorn it," He Tiantian said with a laugh, "You’ve got something too. When Qi Fangfang asks me for hers, I’ll give you yours too."

"What is it?" Qi Xiaoyan was curious. "If Qi Fangfang might scorn it, how do you know I won’t?"

He Tiantian, unconcerned, laughed, "Whether it’s scorned or not doesn’t matter; I can keep it for myself!"

"What is it? Sister Tiantian, tell me now," Qi Xiaoyan was very curious, eager to know what her gift was!

Harried by Qi Xiaoyan’s pestering, He Tiantian rolled her eyes and said, "Actually, it’s just a bunch of hair ties."

Qi Fangfang’s ponytail wasn’t attractive, but she stubbornly liked wearing one, and He Tiantian certainly wasn’t stingy about making her look even worse.

"Haha, not just Qi Fangfang will despise it, I will too," Qi Xiaoyan laughed heartily, "but I’ll only despise you to your face, Qi Fangfang won’t despise you to your face, and what’s more, she’ll be very happy to praise your gift as nice. She’ll say she really likes it, but as soon as she’s out the door, her face would turn dark."

He Tiantian shrugged her shoulders in a helpless gesture, "It doesn’t matter! It’s the thought that counts, not the gift."

"Right, that’s the spirit," Qi Xiaoyan agreed, finding herself increasingly happy in He Tiantian’s company, as they shared a similar style in dealing with things.

The distance between Qijia Village and Hujia Village was only about four or five miles, not far, and they arrived in less than half an hour. He Tiantian went straight to the villagers to ask for the sent-down youth point, looking for Liu Lingli.

Liu Lingli was in the room, chatting and laughing with the other sent-down youths. Hearing someone outside saying there was a visitor, she immediately came out and saw He Tiantian.

"Tiantian, how are you free to come look for me?" Liu Lingli asked, "Oh my, what are you holding in your hand?"

Liu Lingli found the package somewhat familiar but wasn’t sure.

"I had to go home a few days ago because of some family matters. When I came back, your mom asked me to bring you a package. It has two cotton-padded jackets inside," He Tiantian explained, noticing that Liu Lingli was only wearing a light jacket—no wonder she didn’t come out, staying indoors was warmer.

Hearing this, Liu Lingli exclaimed happily, "Thanks so much! I had written to my mom asking her to send me more stuff, but I didn’t receive anything. I’m guessing my mom wanted to save money, so when she saw you were heading back, she gave it to you to bring to me."

As Liu Lingli spoke, she opened the package which contained two sets of cotton-padded clothes—one thick, one thin.

"You’re welcome. I have to go, Sister Lingli, I have something else to attend to," He Tiantian said, spotting a hint of dissatisfaction in Liu Lingli’s rolling eyes, and suddenly not wanting to deal with her any longer.

Liu Lingli probably had the same thought as her mother; if you were bringing something, why not bring more?

This time He Tiantian brought Liu Lingli some items, she repaid the favor from a past life! Aside from that, He Tiantian didn’t want to have too much to do with Liu Lingli.

Selfish people who don’t rise early unless there’s something in it for them, never thinking of others, only themselves. Being with such people, one would inevitably be taken advantage of.

"Oh dear, Tiantian, I’m so sorry for the inconvenience. Why don’t you sit down? I’ll make some food, and you can eat before you go?" Liu Lingli said politely, without any real intention of inviting He Tiantian to eat.

Feeling frustrated internally, He Tiantian decided to play along, "Hey, you’re too polite, Sister Lingli. Then I won’t leave. Just whip up something simple!"

Hearing this, Liu Lingli’s face soured even more, and she said with a pained expression, "He Tiantian, as you know, Hujia Village can’t compare to Qijia Village. The grains got damp, and we didn’t get much..."

With a mockingly amused look, He Tiantian smiled at Liu Lingli, "Hehe, I was just joking with you. I have things to do, so I’m leaving now."

"I really feel so embarrassed..." Liu Lingli heaved a sigh of relief, even more insincerely polite, intending to see He Tiantian out but then retreated back into the house, "Tiantian, it’s so cold outside, I won’t see you off. Take care!"

Qi Xiaoyan came out, muttering, "Fake kindness. You bring her things all the way from such a distance, and they won’t even let us in, let alone offer food."
