Chapter 45: Chapter 45 - Really Bad Timing_1
After Qian Duoduo got dressed and patted her injured area, finding no source of pain, a charming smile suddenly appeared on her attractive face.
Although she didn’t particularly like Zhang Xian, there was no doubt that his medical skills were extraordinary. She had no clue what techniques he used, but they were astonishingly effective.
Stepping out of the hut and entering the clinic, she saw Zhang Xian and Zhu Wen sitting together. Walking over, she laughed, "Thank you, Zhang Xian!"
"It’s nothing." Zhang Xian waved his hand dismissively.
"You’re really not going to charge me?" Qian Duoduo queried, "Because if you don’t want payment, I certainly won’t insist."
"I told you I would treat you for free," Zhang Xian nodded.
Seeing that Zhang Xian really didn’t intend to accept payment, Qian Duoduo felt a little embarrassed, "You should at least accept a little, it wouldn’t be right to let you operate at a loss now, would it?"
"It’s just a small matter, really, no need to," Zhang Xian shook his head.
"You really don’t plan on accepting anything?"
"Really, I won’t accept."
"Then I’m off." Qian Duoduo announced, and without looking back, she headed out.
As she reached the roadside and prepared to get in her car, a beautiful figure suddenly rushed out from the side. The stranger laughed: "Hello, may I ask you a question?"
"Sure," Qian Duoduo nodded.
"Just now, I was at the door listening to your conversation with the handsome guy inside. You mentioned something about removing scars, is it true?" the woman asked.
"You’re asking about that!" Qian Duoduo paused for a moment before starting to promote Zhang Xian’s work, "Well, you’ve come to the right person. I can definitely assure you that Zhang Xian can remove scars. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I just got a treatment. While there hasn’t been a visible effect yet, I didn’t feel any pain throughout the process."
"Pain? Is removing scars painful?" the woman asked curiously, "Could you tell me more about the process?"
"Scar removal involves cutting off the scar tissue. As for the process, I’m not sure. I didn’t look while I was being treated and the whole thing only took about a minute."
"Cutting flesh? Only a minute?" the woman’s eyes widened in awe.
"Indeed, the process is painless, quick to recover from, has no side effects and doesn’t interfere with daily life."
The woman’s eyes sparkled like a treasure hunter who had just stumbled upon a hoard of gold. She was extremely excited.
"Do you also have scars?" Qian Duoduo asked.
"Ah...yes, that’s why I wanted to ask if it’s reliable." The woman nodded, "I have to go now, thanks a lot!"
Watching the woman leave, Qian Duoduo turned her head to look back at Zhang Xian in the clinic. Seeing him watching her, she nodded before getting back into her car and driving off.
"What’s going on?" Zhang Xian muttered to himself.
He had seen everything that had just happened between Qian Duoduo and the woman, and he heard their conversation word for word.
Normally he would not care about such things, but something seemed off about the woman who’d been talking to Qian Duoduo. She had been lingering around the Humanity Clinic.
He had noticed her doing this more than once, although he had never bothered to ask her about it before.
"Dinglingling..." Suddenly, his cell phone rang.
Zhang Xian took out his phone and saw Mo Shaoyun was calling. He hesitated for a moment before answering, "Hello."
"Is that Zhang Xian?"
"Yes, what can I do for you?"
"What? I can’t call you unless there’s a reason?"
"Uh, no, I just meant... It’s a usual question, right?" Zhang Xian was somewhat annoyed.
"Hmph..." Mo Shaoyun snorted, "I need to discuss something with you face-to-face. Sister Nan should be arriving to pick you up soon."
"I might not have the time?" Zhang Xian was somewhat irritated by Mo Shaoyun’s assertiveness.
"You have to come."
With that, Mo Shaoyun hung up.
Listening to the busy signal from his phone, Zhang Xian’s mouth twitched painfully. Did this woman really believe she was some kind of queen, ordering him around?
"Screech... Screech..."
A sharp scraping sound abruptly sounded.
Accompanied by the noise, a red BMW M6 came to a smooth halt in front of Humanity Clinic.
As the car window rolled down, a beautiful delicate face turned towards the side and said to Zhang Xian, "Zhang Xian, Shaoyun asked me to pick you up."
Zhang Xian frowned, but in the end he chuckled bitterly and started walking out, "Old man Zhu, I’m stepping out for a bit. I might not be back for dinner tonight. Don’t wait up."
"Okay." Zhu Wen nodded, smiling, though his smile was somewhat strained.
Although the relationship between Zhang Xian and Mo Shaoyun was not good, this developing trend seemed somewhat unfavorable for his granddaughter.
"What does she want from me?"
Sitting in the passenger seat, Zhang Xian turned to look at Xiao Nan.
"She’ll tell you when you meet. Why are you asking so many questions?" Xiao Nan was not fond of Zhang Xian and didn’t care for his questions.
Zhang Xian’s lips quiver involuntarily, he didn’t ask any further questions. Instead, he took the opportunity to sneak a few glances at Xiao Nan out of the corner of his eye.
Well, even if this woman wasn’t as perfect as Mo Shaoyun, she was definitely a first-class beauty. Combined with a mature charm, she was irresistibly alluring.
A body with a curvaceous bosom, round and perky buttocks, and long, fair legs. To little men with a fetish for mature women, such a woman was undoubtedly a goddess.
"Um..."
A little later, Xiao Nan’s face suddenly changed. She quickly steered the car and parked it on the side of the road.
"What’s up?" asked Zhang Xian.
"You can drive, right?" Xiao Nan asked, a frown creasing her beautiful eyebrows.
"I can, but I won’t."
"What do you mean?" Xiao Nan glared at Zhang Xian.
"I don’t like this car. I don’t want to drive it. Is this reason okay?" Zhang Xian turned to look out the window.
"You..." Xiao Nan turned slightly green, "I’ve got a stomach ache. You drive, or we wait here."
"Let’s just wait then, I don’t mind."
Xiao Nan was furious. Just as she was about to retort, her face suddenly changed. Instinctively, she squeezed her legs together. Her cheeks turned crimson, even redder than the evening glow at the horizon.
After hesitating for a moment, she gritted her teeth and said, "Zhang Xian, go buy something for me."
"What, you can’t walk?" Zhang Xian sneered.
"I’m currently indisposed. I wouldn’t ask you otherwise." Xiao Nan retorted angrily.
"What’s going on?" Zhang Xian turned to ask.
"Are you going or not?"
"If you don’t give me a clear reason, I won’t go."
"I’m menstruating, alright?! I’m bleeding, is that reason enough?" Xiao Nan forcefully resisted the urge to slap Zhang Xian.
"What the... " Zhang Xian widened his eyes, "Seriously? Did you forget your.... you know what? How can you be so careless?"
"None of your business! How I act as a woman is not something you need to teach me. You act like you’ve been a woman before." Xiao Nan was livid.
"Come on, isn’t this being careless? You’re supposed to be prepared in advance for this."
"You think I don’t know that? Can you guarantee perfection in everything?" Xiao Nan gritted her teeth, "It’s an exception, okay? I wonder why men can’t suffer this once a month?"
Zhang Xian’s face clearly showed his confusion. What kind of logic was this?
Apparently, women tended to be cranky during menstruation, and Xiao Nan had just demonstrated it. If men were to go through it monthly, wouldn’t the world be in chaos?
"Hey, hurry up and buy me a pack of sanitary pads. I can’t walk now." Xiao Nan’s tone soften.
"Sis, that’s not funny at all." Zhang Xian’s face darkened.
"Do you think I’m joking?" Xiao Nan was distraught, "Hurry up, I’m bleeding."
"No... it’s not..." Zhang Xian scratched his head, "I’m a man, you know? Imagine me, a grown man, going to buy sanitary pads. Isn’t it ridiculous?"
"How is it ridiculous? I have seen men buy sanitary pads." Xiao Nan replied, "What era do you think we’re in? No one will ridicule you for this. Some women would even envy it, they will say you’re caring for your wife. Is there really that much of a difference between men and women these days? Afraid to buy a pack of sanitary pads?"
"You’re not my wife." Zhang Xian whined.
"Well... just treat it as if you’re buying it for your wife. I’ll pass it to Mo Shaoyun later."
"Am I sick or what? Why the hell would I buy sanitary pads for her out of the blue? And can you guarantee that she won’t freak out, come and slap me if she knew it was me who bought it? Don’t tell me Mo Shaoyun has a good temper, she slapped me before." Zhang Xian nervously pointed to the tissues on the dashboard, "you’ll have to make do with these tissues for now."
"Tissues won’t work." Xiao Nan shook her head, "I’m amazed, how can a grown man like you be so prudish?"
"How is this being prudish?" Zhang Xian looked away, "I’ll just sit here, whether you use tissues or go buy it yourself, it’s up to you."
"Zhang Xian, you’re not a real man." Xiao Nan was furious.
"No, you’re wrong, I’m just not a man who buys sanitary pads." Zhang Xian corrected.
Xiao Nan frowned, before suddenly leaning on the steering wheel and starting to cry.
If this scene were to be known by the bigwigs in Yanjing, they would never believe it. Xiao Nan, the strong woman of the business world, when did she ever cry?
"Hey, what’s the big idea?"
"None of your business."
"Stop crying! You’re a grown-up, aren’t you ashamed?"
"How is it your business?" Xiao Nan snapped, "You can go or not, it’s up to you, stop talking so much nonsense."
"No... I mean... okay...I’ll go buy it for you, just please stop crying." Zhang Xian gave in, feeling a pang of sympathy. It must have taken a lot for a woman like Xiao Nan to cry like this.
"Really?" Xiao Nan lifted her head.
"Yes, I’m truly going. Just stop crying." After nodding, Zhang Xian opened the door and climbed out of the car.
Seeing Zhang Xian leave, Xiao Nan quickly stopped crying and began to tidy herself up with the tissues.
"Damn, am I really about to buy sanitary pads? As a cultivator, isn’t this beneath me?" Zhang Xian stood at the door of a store, hesitating to go in.
He wasn’t especially thick-skinned, nor particularly sensitive. But he had never done something like buying sanitary pads for a woman before, and he knew what it entailed.
It’s true that people are more open-minded these days, but there are still some weirdos out there. If he went in so awkwardly, people would definitely mistake him for one of them.
