Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Zhang Xian is the Poisoner?_1
"I have been invited here by the patient’s family to treat the patient. Do you have a problem with that?" Zhang Xian asked, looking at the pimple-faced nurse.
The pimple-faced nurse laughed scornfully, saying, "Little boy, are you joking with me? Do you think I am a three-year-old child who can be easily deceived? These patients are all our hospital’s important care objects, with a dedicated team of specialists in charge. What are you, a greenhorn doing here? And look at you, do you resemble a doctor at all? Stop pretending to be sophisticated here."
Although the other nurse did not speak rudely, she also did not believe that Zhang Xian was a doctor.
Well, even if Zhang Xian was a doctor, then what? If the patient’s condition baffles even the specialist team, could a whippersnapper cure him? Is this some kind of international joke?
Zhang Xian glanced at the ironic nurse, then looked at the middle-aged man and asked, "Do you want me to treat him?"
The middle-aged man nodded, "Of course, we are counting on you!"
"Good," Zhang Xian smiled and said, "You go to process the discharge procedures, or sign a contract stating that whatever happens to the patient, it has nothing to do with the Central Hospital."
Without the slightest hesitation, the middle-aged man nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll write it down."
"Hey, you..." the pimple-faced nurse called out, seeing that the middle-aged man was not paying attention to her, she quickly gestured to the other nurse.
The nurse nodded and turned to leave.
Zhang Xian understood the nurse’s intention— she was merely going to call for backup. He had no intention to stop her and waited patiently by the door.
Before long, many doctors rushed over. They were the so-called specialist team.
Leading them was an old man with white hair and black-framed glasses. He rushed into the ward and began to examine the patient by the bed. Seeing that the patient was not in immediate danger, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
He had been scared when he heard from the nurse that a youngster was about to treat their patient. They were responsible for these patients, and any mishap would hold them accountable.
Zhang Xian didn’t bother with the specialist team and continued to lean against the door.
The old man leading wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and turned to the nurse, asking, "Who said they were going to treat our patient?"
The pimple-faced nurse said, "It’s that guy over by the door."
The leader wrinkled his brow and walked towards Zhang Xian to ask, "Young man, are you offering to treat my patient?"
Zhang Xian replied, "Correct, it’s better to let me handle it than wasting your time."
"You seem very confident," the leader sneered coldly, and asked, "But I am curious, who are you, why are you here, and why are you touching my patient?"
"Naturally, I’m not so bored as to come here and muddle in this mess." Zhang Xian wiped his nose and said, "To tell you the truth, I’m from Zhu Pharma. These patients were poisoned by our drugs, so I have a duty to treat them. As long as these victims are not fully recovered, Zhu Pharma cannot shirk its responsibility and must shoulder the hefty medical fees."
The leader frowned and said, "These patients seem to have been here for half a month, right? If you can cure them, why didn’t you treat them sooner?"
"I would like to, but the relatives didn’t trust me, even though I had previously cured a patient. They still dragged it until today to find me." Zhang Xian gave a bitter smile and said, "Do you know how much medical expenses Zhu Pharma has to pay in this half a month? It seems a lot was spent on your professional team’s research, but half a month has passed, what’s the results?"
"This..." The leader was a bit embarrassed.
Remembering something, he asked in surprise, "Young man, you said you cured a patient before?"
Zhan Xian replied, "Correct, if you don’t believe it, you can ask the relatives of the victims."
The leader looked at the others, clearly not believing Zhang Xian’s words. They were all seven of them, and all high-level virus research experts. They spent more than half a month to develop a drug to restrain the virus, but could not utterly eradicate it. This young man in front of them was barely twenty, how could he surpass their authoritative professional research team?
A middle-aged man stepped forward, "Zhang Xian did cure a patient, otherwise, we would not have sought him. We delayed until today because we were afraid of side effects. However, in actuality, none occurred."
"This..." The leader was surprised.
Could this youngster really have a remarkable skill? But his age was too young, making it hard for them to believe it!
The pimple-faced nurse frowned and said, "Hey, you are from Zhu Pharma, didn’t you create this poison? If it was you, then it would make sense. You might have the antidote."
Upon hearing this, the leader felt the nurse’s words made sense.
Otherwise, how could a twenty-year-old youngster handle a novel virus that not even their professional team could crack?
If there was a mastermind that created this virus and then gave the antidote to the youngster in front of them, it would make sense.
"Zhang Xian, was it you?"
Several relatives surrounded Zhang Xian when they heard this.
They were astounded by Zhang Xian’s skills earlier. But now, as the pimple-faced nurse suggested, they believed it was possible. After all, Zhang Xian was too young and didn’t seem like a divine doctor.
"I didn’t create the poison, otherwise I wouldn’t have come to detoxify it."
Seeing the nurse’s suspicions, Zhang Xian quickly explained, "Besides, I am the Zhu family’s son-in-law, how could I possibly put the Zhu family in danger?"
The freckled nurse smirked, "Not necessarily. As far as I know, the Zhu family has two daughters. You, being the Zhu family’s son-in-law, it wouldn’t be unlikely for you to covet the Zhu Pharmaceuticals. Now that Zhu Pharmaceuticals is suddenly in trouble and you’ve appeared out of nowhere to save the day, the Zhu family would surely look at you in a new light. And who knows, Zhu Pharmaceuticals could even fall into your hands."
Upon hearing this, the others couldn’t help but nod in agreement, thinking it not impossible and that Zhang Xian indeed was suspicious.
"Bloody hell, this woman has quite the imagination!" Zhang Xian cursed in his heart, and said, "Either way, the poison wasn’t administered by me. If you insist on believing otherwise, there’s nothing I can do. I came here today to treat the sick, not to seize control of Zhu Pharmaceuticals, as some nurse has suggested. If you want me to treat the patients, I’ll definitely help. If you don’t want my help, I won’t force it."
The freckled nurse, having a dislike towards Zhang Xian, snorted coldly, "What’s the matter? Run out of things to say, so now you’re trying to wriggle out of it?"
"How am I wriggling out of anything?" Zhang Xian asked.
The freckled nurse retorted, "Well then, if you can produce evidence to prove that you are not the poisoner, we’ll believe you are genuinely capable."
Zhang Xian snorted, "Well, Miss Freckles, I have to ask, do you have any evidence to prove that I am the poisoner? If not, can I accuse you of defamation?"
"You...what did you call me?" The freckled nurse was furious.
"Your face is full of freckles, it’s plain for everyone to see, how can you blame me for that?"
Zhang Xian wiped his nose, "Moreover, why should I call you a beauty when you’ve inexplicably singled me out?"
"You..." The freckled nurse’s face turned a livid colour, "Fine, I won’t argue with you. You are the poisoner, even if there’s no evidence, you are the most suspicious."
At these words, everyone nodded in agreement. Based on this alone, the police could arrest Zhang Xian for investigation.
The leading elder wasn’t interested in whether Zhang Xian was the poisoner, but he was very interested in the antidote, "Young man, I don’t care whether you are the poisoner or not, but I think the patients are the most important right now. If you really have the antidote, could you give it to us to examine? I’m not doing this out of selfishness, I can also make this public to ensure that the results of your labour won’t be claimed as someone else’s."
Zhang Xian shook his head, "There is no antidote for this virus."
The leading elder asked, "Do you mean, the patients earlier were cured by your own ability?"
Zhang Xian nodded, "Of course, that’s the truth."
The freckled nurse scoffed, "Professor, there’s no point in talking with this sort of person. If he won’t hand over the antidote, we’ll call the police."
Zhang Xian gave a sideways glance at the freckled nurse, not intending to pay any attention.
"Huh? Isn’t this the Divine Doctor from last time?"
A junior nurse passing by the ward was somewhat surprised to see Zhang Xian under attack. After hesitating for a moment, she hurried off in a certain direction.
Zhang Xian had run off after treating Hong Hua last time, and the hospital headmaster had been wanting to see him since hearing about it. But the relatives seemed to bear a grudge against Zhang Xian and had deliberately kept quiet about it.
Now that she had stumbled upon him and he seemed to be in trouble, she hurriedly ran to the headmaster’s office.
"Uh, don’t you know you’re supposed to knock before entering?" The Headmaster was working in his office.
Seeing the junior nurse rush in, he was a bit annoyed, "Which department are you from? Who’s your head nurse? How come you have no manners?"
"No... It’s not..." The junior nurse was anxious and had forgotten to knock. She quickly explained, "Headmaster, I... I have something urgent to report to you, so I forgot to knock."
The Headmaster frowned, "What’s so urgent?"
The junior nurse quickly said, "When I came over just now, I ran into the Divine Doctor from last time."
"What?"
The headmaster quickly rose to his feet, "Where? Hurry and take me to him."
"At the inpatient department," the junior nurse replied.
The headmaster nodded, not saying a word as he got up and walked out of his office, heading straight to the inpatient department.
Since last time, he had been eager to find Zhang Xian, but didn’t dare to make a fuss about it for fear of offending someone. The Divine Doctor had disappeared after treating Hong Hua and obviously didn’t want people to know about it.
When he asked about it from the relatives, for one reason or another he couldn’t get a straight answer and still hadn’t found him.
Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been the need to set up any special group within the hospital.
"Headmaster, it’s right there," Upon arriving at the inpatient department, the junior nurse pointed at a ward crowded with people, "It seems like the Divine Doctor has run into some trouble."
Upon hearing this, the headmaster quickened his pace.
If someone in the hospital who had no regard for others offended the Divine Doctor, wouldn’t this just add to his troubles?
