Chapter 115: Turning Defeat into Victory_1
Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Turning Defeat into Victory_1
In front of the Xitan District Public Security Bureau in TianDu City.
After getting out of the car, Qian Bo smiled ruefully and strode towards the bureau.
"Secretary Qian, don’t be in such a rush."
At this moment, a young man in a white suit approached from one direction, a faint smile on his face.
Qian Bo turned his head and looked at him curiously, "Dan Wei, what are you doing here?"
Dan Wei grinned, "Actually, I came specifically to see you. You came all the way to this Xitan district bureau probably for Zhang Xian, right?"
"You know Zhang Xian?"
"Not really." Dan Wei shook his head, "But I do know that the current situation is unfavorable for Zhang Xian. No one else dares to stand up for Zhang Xian except me. But I’m not here to testify—and I’m not foolish enough to openly confront Yao Shuai and Tan Xiaofu. Today, I’m here just to give you something that might save Zhang Xian."
"What is it?" Qian Bo asked curiously, "You just said you don’t really know Zhang Xian, why would you help him?"
"It’s a video that can prove Zhang Xian acted in self-defense." Dan Wei smirked, "As for why I want to save Zhang, that’s not my own intention, but my sister’s."
Qian Bo was startled, "As far as I know, you don’t have a sister, do you?"
"Secretary Qian, you’re asking quite a lot!"
"Haha, I assumped. But where did this video come from?" Qian Bo found it questionable.
"Don’t worry, I have no secret scheming. It was just a coincidence." Dan Wei explained, "That day at the Flying Bird Club, I was bored and saw Zhang Xian getting into a fight with Tan Xiaofu and Yao Shuai. My sister keeps talking about Zhang Xian, so on a whim, I took out my phone and shot the video, thinking to go back and show my silly sister for fun."
...
Inside the interrogation room, Zhang Xian looked at Tan Yaowei with a light smile, not showing any tension.
Whenever Tan Yaowei looked at Zhang Xian, his face turned grim. He couldn’t understand how Zhang Xian could manage to smile at this crucial moment.
An enemy’s happiness is one’s own suffering, his son was still in hospital, but Zhang Xian was here smiling and unbothered. Even though he had everything under control, he didn’t feel satisfied at all.
With a twitch at the corner of his mouth, he said in a low voice, "Chief Tao, what are you waiting for? Can we conclude the case now?"
"Eh, of course." Tao Weiran nodded, then turned to a police officer, "Go get the confession form."
The officer nodded, turned, and left.
When he came back, he had a confession form in his hands. He handed it to Zhang Xian, saying, "Take a look. If there are no problems, sign it."
Zhang Xian waved his hand, opened the confession form, "I’m innocent, I won’t confess."
"You..." Tan Yaowei got angry, "Zhang Xian, refusing to confess only makes things difficult, don’t be ignorant, can’t you see the situation you’re in?"
"I won’t sign it, what can you do to me?" Zhang Xian looked at Tan Yaowei, chuckling, "I know you can’t wait to deal with me, but I just won’t do as you wish. I kindly remind you, don’t think you’re invincible just because you’re a mayor. Other people may fear you, but I, Zhang Xian, don’t. Don’t act so high and mighty."
"You..." Tan Yaowei was furious, he glared at Tao Weiran and roared, "Chief Tao, I don’t want to waste more words on this stubborn person, but I want to see results."
Tao Weiran just kept nodding, "Mayor Tan, don’t worry, I assure you a satisfactory outcome."
Tan Yaowei gave Zhang Xian a cold glance and then left, "Director Zheng, let’s chat outside. I have some concerns about your work."
Zheng Youhua sighed, and with a gloomy face, followed suit.
Seeing this, Tao Weiran was in high spirits, feeling as if he were already the head of the city bureau.
He sat down opposite Zhang Xian, smiling, and said, "Zhang Xian, come on, sign this confession. We’ve chatted before, let’s not end this on a bad note. Otherwise it won’t do any of us any good."
"What for?" Zhang Xian smiled, "You seem to be leaning toward Mayor Tan. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, he can’t be trusted."
Tao Weiran frowned, saying, "Zhang Xian, I’m only speaking to you like this because we’ve had a talk before. Others wouldn’t get this kind of treatment. Don’t make things difficult for me."
Zhang Xian scoffed, "Bro, you gotta be kidding me. If I were to sign that, I’d be going to jail. Do you think I’m stupid?"
"If that’s the case, then I’m afraid that..." Tao Weiran gave a cold laugh and stood up. Turning to several police officers behind him, he said, "Teach him a lesson. When he agrees to sign, we stop."
The police officers nodded and approached Zhang Xian with their batons.
But at that moment, Tao Weiran’s hair suddenly caught fire. Within a few breaths, half his hair had burned, and a smell of charred hair filled the interrogation room.
"Damn, my hair..." Tao Weiran howled, frantically trying to put out the fire.
The other officers were also terrified and hastily used their batons to smother the flames on Tao Weiran’s head, hitting him over and over again.
Zhang Xian sat on the side, crossing his legs, watching the scene with immense satisfaction.
These little tricks didn’t have much destructive power, but they were certainly effective against stubborn pieces of garbage. A tiny spell could produce miraculous effects.
"Damn it, how did my hair catch fire?" Tao Weiran took out his phone to look at himself, found that he hardly had any hair left, and exploded with rage.
The police officers glanced at each other, indicating they were clueless.
Tao Weiran suddenly turned back to Zhang Xian and roared, "Hey, punk, did you do this?"
Zhang Xian shook his head, saying, "It’s not my fault. I just sat here, not moving at all. How can you blame me for your hair catching on fire?"
"You..." Tao Weiran roared angrily, "Get him."
Upon his command, several policemen slowly approached Zhang Xian.
...
Outside the interrogation room, in the corridor.
Tan Yaowei, hands behind his back, his expression serious, said, "Director Zheng, you’re the top dog of our Tiandu Public Security Bureau, aren’t you?"
Zheng Youhua nodded awkwardly and laughed, "Indeed I am."
Tan Yaowei snorted and said, "Then how have you been doing your job? Zhang Xian is a suspect, and you ordered the sub-bureau to treat him with the greatest hospitality. No negligence is allowed in your orders?"
Zheng Youhua bowed his head, speechless.
"Fine, as a law enforcement officer, this is how you enforce the law." Tan Yaowei gave a cold smile, "At tomorrow’s standing committee, I’ll raise this issue for discussion."
Upon hearing that, Zheng Youhua felt like crying but shed no tears. His tenure as director was likely coming to an end.
"Hey? Mayor Tan, Director Zheng, what are you doing here?"
Suddenly, an elderly man in a suit walked over from the outside. He was Qian Bo, the top official of Tiandu City.
"Secretary Qian?" Tan Yaowei gave a cold smile and asked, "What brings you here?"
Once Zheng Youhua saw Qian Bo, he took a sigh of relief. He had always aligned himself with Qian Bo politically. With this big boss present, he suddenly felt more relaxed.
However, he knew that his political career had come to an end. Tan Yaowei had the facts in his grasp, and any further quibbling would be in vain.
Qian Bo looked at Tan Yaowei and laughed, "I came for the same reason as you did. Although we are here for the same thing, our goals differ."
Tan Yaowei frowned and asked, "What do you mean? Are you here to advocate on behalf of Zhang Xian?"
Qian Bo gave a cold smile and ignored Tan Yaowei. Looking at Zheng Youhua, he asked, "Director Zheng, where’s Zhang Xian?"
"In the interrogation room," Director Zheng replied.
Qian Bo nodded, "Hmm, bring him out."
Tan Yaowei frowned, glaring at Qian Bo, and asked, "Secretary Qian, what do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean?" Qian Bo chuckled, "Mayor Tan, you are indeed bold! As the mayor of a city, is this how you allow your son to behave recklessly?"
"How am I indulging my son?" Tan Yaowei’s face turned cold and he told Qian, "Secretary Qian, you can’t just say anything you want."
Secretary Qian took out his phone, played a video, and then said, "You watch it yourself, and see how arrogant your son is. ’Beating people to death, I’ll take responsibility for what happens.’ He has quite the audacity!"
Tan Yaowei’s face turned ghastly as he took the phone to watch the video.
Seeing his son, Tan Xiaofu, acting wildly without constraint, swaggering about and threatening to beat Zhang Xian in the video, his face turned ashen.
"Um, Secretary Qian, there...there’s a fight inside."
Zheng Youhua, who had gone in to call Zhang Xian, came running out of the room, speaking strangely.
"What’s the situation?" Qian Bo went to look into the interrogation room and was stunned.
Inside the room, Zhang Xian was seated on a chair, his hands cuffed. Next to him on the ground, a few policemen lay beaten, groaning in pain.
"Oh, Secretary Qian, you’re here!"
Sitting in the chair, Zhang Xian crossed one leg over the other and said, "Sigh, these guys went too far. They dared to get violent with me. If I hadn’t been so quick-witted, they might have forced me to confess."
"With your ability, would anyone force a confession out of you?" After murmuring this to himself, Qian Bo said, "It’s okay, let’s go!"
Zhang Xian seemed a little dazed, jumped up, and asked, "Am I okay now? Can I leave?"
"Hmm ..." Qian Bo nodded his head, stepped outside and saw Tan Yaowei standing there with a deadly pale face and a twitching mouth. He laughed and said, "Mayor Tan, you’ve got a good son there."
Tan Yaowei glared at Qian Bo, speechless for a long moment.
The video indeed showed that his son and Yao Shuai had initiated the fight, and had moreover, been involved in a heinous group assault. His precious son had even behaved so arrogantly.
"Mayor Tan, I’ll be careful with this matter," Qian Bo chuckled and then suddenly called out sternly, "Director Zheng."
Zheng Youhua walked over and said, "Yes."
"Take someone to the hospital to check on Mayor Tan’s son. Once he’s recovered, take him for some re-education through labor. This is just too much!"
"You..." Tan Yaowei was almost choked with anger.
"Mayor Tan, don’t worry, it’ll be fine," Qian Bo patted Tan Yaowei on the shoulder, smiling. "It’s common for young people to make mistakes. I understand. Once he’s been through re-education through labor, he’ll get on the right track."
